Lawsuit seeks to halt US swine flu vaccination campaign
greg30127 replied to SoapMom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The problem is, they're just now finding out some things about the H1N1 virus and changing the details. They are now discovering that it's NOT "just a young persons disease", and that the mortality rate of those who are older who now ARE getting it is pretty high - as well as a higher risk to those who are overweight, etc. Articles: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/11/03/eveningnews/main5514708.shtml http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1flu/qa.htm http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=80327 (this article shows that countries that are comparing data are now finding that overweight peop -
If you don't want to download/install programs on your computer's hard drive, you can also use Google's free document creator which is Word compatible. Not as feature-ish as Word itself, but for most stuff it's ok. Check it out here: http://www.google.com/google-d-s/intl/en/tour1.html

It's showing for me and others - maybe your browser is stuck or photobucket where it's linked to hiccuped. The weather is supposed to be sunny and dry for the next week (unless it changes). That MIGHT according to some, cause some more color to come out better in the trees that are left that haven't changed yet. So maybe the area around Sweetwater Lake itself might wind up with some color after all if it continues. Here's one more taken on the "red" trail near the ruins - more color again, on the actual trails....

Went to Sweetwater Creek today around lunch time. Weird colors. All the rain has caused some trees to drop early, others to be at peak now, and still others to only just now be starting. So when you're going around the Sweetwater Lake, it doesn't really look like much. Once you get down to the cooler hiking trails though, there's a little more color variety. I guess the extra shade down there has something to do with it. Either way, if you're going to go over there, do it now. This week. Maybe next week some trees will catch up too, but time's running out. The main trail to t

What soap mom said - when you have certain types of digital cameras - especially those where the flash is pretty close to the lens, then the light from the flash will reflect off of dust, dirty, "whatever" is in their air and create these effects. The closer the stuff is to your lens, the more round and "orb like" it appears in the pic.

Mayberry Moderators Need Your Help
greg30127 replied to Sheriff Andy Taylor's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You have to have thick skin to moderate ANY web board. I'm a moderator elsewhere on a large-scale board and can say that you can get dozens of "love letters" from members when you do your stuff. You might get a couple of kissy faces and an "I love you" followed immediately by a "I hope your hoohah rots off and rats eat it" the next second. Tossed in with a comment about your mother, what you eat for dinner, and bathroom jokes. Yep - thick skin. You need uniforms though. Make it official. Maybe a special weapon or two. Form an allegiance of Moderators and never back down. Modera -
Well, I'm right in Powder Springs and I heard one of them. All three of my dogs just about broke the back door glass to get back in when it went off it was so loud. I was on the phone and not paying attention though - I thought a transformer nearby had blown but couldn't see anything when I went out. This was louder than those typically sound when they blow, though.

The Gray Aliens might be offended though - they don't normally have mustaches and hats.

It's official ... they're making a movie based on the super hero "Green Lantern". Filming is supposed to start right after the Christmas season, with a tentative release date of July 2011. PLOT/STORYLINE: Green Lantern is a guy named Hal Jordan, a test pilot for fighter planes, who is chosen by a dying alien to replace him as a member of the Green Lantern Corps - basically, "space police" who use rings that with special energy can create whatever the person wearing it can imagine, to fight crime. The movie will be an "origins" type movie going over how he came to be who he is, with sequ

Most Men Don't Wash with Soap in the Restroom
greg30127 replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm a nut about germs, and yeah, wash my hands multiple times per day. Examples of my attitude toward "non-washers".... 1) Once had a coworker who had been working around the office all day walk up and stick their hand in my box of Cheese-its without washing their hands first - I made them buy me a new box. I also usually will not shake hands unless I know I'm going to be able to wash my hands very shortly after doing it. I KNOW what other guys do with their hands all day - and can only guess what feminine hygiene douchey things the women have been handling in the bathroom - I don't w -
Anyone who knows anyone who lives inside the city limits should really push them to get out and vote on election day for that Mary Norwood. Her top priority is to not only increase the police there but to beef it up to what projections say it should be (3000+ officers as opposed to the 2000 they have now), so there could potentially be a lot more jobs lined up. Let's not forget that a number of Atlanta's thugs like to drive their stollen SUVs out to the suburbs to commit crimes - the more cops there are in Atlanta locking these guys up, the less "spillover thug" crime WE have to deal with o

Good luck getting an answer from him - remember, he's running for Governor now.

Awww crap. I lost $1.00. Heck, no one here guessed Vultures. I thought the Vultures had things around their necks that looked like collars or something - figured these were for sure Hawks or Eagles.

Ok, first of all, apologies for the complete crap quality of these pics. These were taken with a Fuji point-and-shoot that I carry in my car, of birds that were literally 1/2 mile away, then the center blown up a great deal so you can see them.. so again.. crap. I didn't put these in the photo forum because I'm not showing them off - I just need a quick I.D. of what these are as everyone at work is curious about it. Anyway - I work West of Atlanta and our building is on the edge of a small swamp/bog area. There's this really tall dead tree out in the middle of it, and this morning it ha

The radar looks reasonably clear after this evening's storms pass through. I'm sure as predicted there will be pop-up stuff tomorrow, but betting there will be plenty of clear spots for stuff to continue and go on, too.

I'm having a hard time grasping the concept of staying with someone you can't stand (and who can't stand you) simply to hold on to material things. Sorry - I don't see how that helps anyone. If you need to live in a small 2BR rental home or apartment and drive one so-so car, then so be it. Eat in. Rent Netflix instead of going to the movies, etc etc.. do whatever you need to in order to make it financially, but to say you are staying with a "downright mean" guy just so the both of you can keep your stuff... I can't (if I'm offering a personal opinion) condone that as healthy in any s

I know there are West Cobbers on here, so thought I'd pass this on to them, or anyone else interested: Tomorrow (Saturday Oct. 10) from 11am to 6pm there will be a charity event in downtown Powder Springs in the square for Powder Springs and Austell flood victims. There will be live music, kid activities, and food. They ask that anyone who wishes to donate bring gift cards or monetary donations only to donate to the local charities, as they will not be set up to take in material donations (food, clothing, etc.. so don't bring these - only gift cards or cash/checks). Sounds like it's g

This is what happens when everyone farts at the exact same time.

They're cool, but more cool than practical. I mean, by the time you plug in a mat and set it up, you could just as well have plugged in a charger cord and plugged it into the device. What would be cool, is if they could get together and do one standard charging mat that would work with ANY and ALL devices. So, when you came home, you could just put your cell phone, digital camera, iPod, etc etc.. all on the same mat at the same time, and they'd all charge up together. Now I'd buy something like that.

This was on a link today. Goes to show you what might happen if you don't turn your cell phones off when in a theater - you might get called out! (might show an ad first - sorry) http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true&am...c4-108c3c90fb8d

I fully agree with this. Sorry to sound old-fartish, but "in my day" (early 1970s), it would NEVER have been considered for a parent to allow a kid under the age of maybe 10, to stand on the side of the road to wait for a bus. The parents stood with their kids at a designated stop, or "a" parent took turns with others to stand at a designated stop, until the bus came. Or, the parents would drive their kids to school. If that meant the kids arrived early because the parent had to go to work - so be it. Early in the morning, you have drivers who are speeding because they're runnin

Oct. 10 is a busy day in Dallas.
greg30127 replied to nicholascolephotographer's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'll probably go, as these things help to support local artists, plus give me a kick in my butt to start getting back into my photography and stuff again. But I do have to ask - what makes an arts fair "Wholesome", compared to other arts fairs? I've never seen strippers and chugging contests at other festivals. LOL -
The WSB site says this is now officially a "once every 500 year flood", as it was THAT bad (even BROKE flood gauges in most locations). As others say, take pics, pics, and more pics. If you know anyone who has one of those flipvideo things or if your camera has video capability, it won't hurt to video a "walk through" of your house, too - even after you meet with FEMA, as you may need it for future assistance. Wait till FEMA does their thing, but ask about GRANTS. I have no idea how these work, but here's what someone told me years ago, so I don't know how they work now: If you

I see no problem with a law that makes you pay for a rescue if it's due to something you did on your part via your decision making abilities (or lack thereof), as in, "straying from a set path", or surfing when a hurricane is coming, skiing in areas during avalanche warnings, etc etc. They SHOULD have set fees, though, and be consistent with those as well as who gets charged. I agree it's dumb for a handful of people up there to be charged $230 and then this kid gets a $25,000 bill - no, that's sounds dumb. ANYONE who has to be rescued due to "duh" actions/decisions should foot a hefty bil
