Ok, so let's just summarize it by saying someone (not me) left a bag of new potatoes in the back of a lower pantry shelf... left it there until one day when a "dead Rat smell" started coming out of that area, and I found the bag along with a puddle of black "stuff" where the potatoes had started to decompose or whatever they do. Very VERY nasty smell. These were sitting on a cheap shelf in a cabinet. Lysol, and even three cleaning with bleach have not got rid of the smell. I don't want to have to rip out the shelf (it doesn't just lift out) and replace it. Are there any of you Susie-Q

Your cell phone has more germs than a toilet handle...
greg30127 replied to greg30127's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I can't count how many times I've gone into a public restroom and am just standing there, having a happy pee, when in the stalls I can hear other guys talking on their cells while taking a dump. Now, assuming they actually take the time to wipe afterward with one hand, many of them come out of the stall still talking on the phone. No doubt some hand-swapping took place during the "wiping process", so bingo - you have a party on your cell. Then many guys (and from what I hear many women, too) do a short water rinse at the sink, and walk out to join the family in the food line to get a slice -
Ok, sorry, slow night. But I had seen this done on TV once before a while back. They took cell phones from people in an audience of a talk show and tested them live. Founds tons of germs and "fecal matter" germs on their cell phones. Said the average cell phone is rarely cleaned by those who use/own it, and has more germs than some public toilets. This story add to it: http://www.celebrities-with-diseases.com/health-news/mobile-phones-beat-toilet-handles-by-carrying-18-times-more-harmful-bacteria-6821.html Moral: Clean your cell phones each day.

I haven't been up to Costco in a few weeks, but sometimes they have discounted tickets to the Aquarium in blister packs on display. I think maybe I've seen them at Sam's Club, too. Worth checking out if you go to these places. If you're into Aquariums, make time someday to go to the one in Chattanooga. A lot of people prefer that one over the one downtown here (I'm one of them). A bit more interactive, and while not as large, is in two buildings along a really nice riverfront area with boats, restaurants, etc - where you can actually walk a block without having 6 people ask you for mon

I tried to get a 'front' shot but couldn't get at the right angle. This guy wasn't trying to look like a woman (I don't think). I mean, no makeup or a wig or anything. Looked like a typical older bald gray haired guy from the face - was just wearing a Warrior Princess outfit and jogging shorts. lol As a matter of fact, he KINDA in the face looked like this older actor who's been a bit part in tons of movies like the Princess Bride named "Wallace Shawn", only with some facial hair (link to actor's pic: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3631057920/nm0001728 ).

The only possible legit reason I could see for something like this would be if you moved to a new city and wanted to "rent" someone who could take you around the place, and show you where the major areas were for shopping, recreation, parks, etc. It's a lot easier to get oriented to a new location if you have someone to show you personally around, and for that reason, I could see a reason for a service like this - but I thought similar services existed anyway. Other than that, for any other reason, yeah I think renting a friend is odd. I browsed through some of the listings too, and a

Well, I wish this had actually happened at Walmart because I could then submit it to the peopleofwalmart site, but it was at the BJ's warehouse in Austell today on the E/W connector. I couldn't get a pic of the front 'cause I wasn't sure how nutty this guy was, but imagine this if you will: Guy around 60 years old. Bald, mustache, hairy back. Wearing yellow jogging shorts, and over top of it some kind of one-piece woman's tanktop/mini-skirt leather thing with a leather strap across the back. Oh yeah, baby.... Stood at the Netbook area for over an hour. The employees wouldn't

Thanks for the info. Might be enough of a red flag for me to say "no" to it, then. I need something that is very very dependable for talk and getting texts quickly. Sounds like if it's using the Nextel stuff and texts are still sluggish to receive in some areas, it might not be great for me. Shame. Boost has a new "rugged" smartphone, the i1, that's water/drop/dust resistant that is a big step up from most prepaid type phones. You can use it as a prepaid or get the $50 a month unlimited plan for it. Gets good reviews even though the phone itself costs quite a bit. But coverage

Anyone using Boost Mobile out here? I know they use the Sprint network and it's not quite as covered as Verizon, but old complaints about the service said sometimes it took forever for text messages to be delivered to phones. Just wondered if that's still a problem for anyone who might be using them or if there are any other complaints.

Powder Springs also has one in the evenings that just started for the 3rd season. Every Thursday from 4pm - 8pm in the town square. It's good that all the local ones are doing it at different times, though. Gives folks a chance to hit more than one or if they have a crazy schedule, at least get to one. I think there's also a weirdly houred one at the Avenues of West Cobb too on Wednesday from 10am till something (weird schedule).

Thoughts on certain cell phone service that starts with "S"
greg30127 replied to bigocobb's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It really does depend on where you live. I thought service was a lot more spotty out this way with Spring. I like Verizon. Never a dropped call yet. Sprint's Coverage Map: http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp Verizon's Coverage Map: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/CoverageLocatorController -
I need to enlist the help of the computer guys that are on here. Someone built me a computer to use at work. Set it up and everything was fine, until it got to the point where it did a large "Catch up" Windows 7 update download when I shut it down. Then it got caught in one of those endless loops where it boots halfway, then starts over saying there's an error. It has Windows 7 Ultimate on it. The first time, I was able to boot up in safe mode and I did a pre-update restore, and the computer worked fine. Then upon shut down, it downloaded the stuff again and started the whole thin

Orhid people: Can someone please identify this Orchid for me, please? If possible, I need the common and sci name for it. I looked all over several orchid I.D. sites and could not find a pic of this exact one. Thanks.

thanks for that.

Yeah, I know the white ones are pitcher plants 'cause they all had dead bugs in them. The red ones are the ones I'm trying to I.D.

Went to the Botanical gardens this weekend to check out the skywalk thing they opened. Need help with the I.D. of a plant. They had a field of what I know are called "pitcher plants" that catch bugs, but there were some dark red flowers mixed in with them and I never saw a sign for them. Pic below. Can someone I.D. them for me? Thanks

Nah. He has a separatist mentality. The country needs to work together, not against DC because it's trendy with some right now. I've heard a couple of his speeches and so far haven't heard any "let's work together to get things done" type of messages - only "let's take it back from them" type of stuff. I'm voting for the Porters. So far they're the only ones who have at least come close to a message of trying to get folks to work together to fix problems.

Let my dogs out one night (all girls) and went out to get them a few minutes later. They were at the fence kissing a male Coyote. Tramps. He took off the second he saw me on the deck but it's an established neighborhood with not a lot of large wooded areas. They're everywhere these days. Lots of folks mistake them for Shepherds or thin Huskies when they see them loose.

All of the victims had the same last name, so it's assumed they were her sons. The two 17 year olds were not wearing seatbelts and according to the article, were both ejected from the vehicle - one is in critical condition, the other is not. The 25 year old is being treated but not critical. The driver of the third vehicle had minor injuries. Oh and of course, the idiot who pulled out in front of them, Jeffrey L. House of Powder Springs (according to article) was not injured at all, but faces charges. The side streets in that area are extremely dangerous. Between the teens texting and

Maybe they just need to do away with this feature entirely. What's the reason for it? Regardless, there should be a way to report a crank call. Even if the number is restricted from showing up on your cell phone, surely there's a record of it's origin via the cell/phone company data base. They keep track of all inbound/outbound calls. You may not see the number, but I'll bet it's on their computers. You should be able to dial a code after a crank call and have it go on record with the carrier and let them do the work to contact the source and threaten them. AT&T offers this with

I'm thinking about just going back in time and telling friends/family to just call me on my land line at home and just use my cell for emergencies or when traveling. I find it stupid that the cell companies have no way for you to block calls from freaks who have nothing better to do than call you every day and make noises on it. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have said this, but I'm beginning to think I'd support a Federal law that forbids people from blocking/hiding their phone number for any reason when making calls.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that just about every night between 6:30 and 8:30pm, I was getting a call from what caller ID shows as a "Restricted" number on my cell phone. I have not answered one yet. Twice I was next to it and just pushed to "go to voicemail", and the rest of the times I've not been in the room to hear it ring, or the phone was off and they went to voice mail. Every time, someone is leaving a message that consists of just them making a bunch of weird noises into the phone and that's it. Goes on for 10-30 seconds and they hang up. I called Verizon and there's no way

The large Goodwill center in Hiram (old Circuit City)... I've not been there. Does anyone know if they ever have outdoor patio chairs and stuff like that, or is it just clothing? I need something comfortable to sit in while I use the deck but just want one chair or outdoor loveseat kind of thing, and don't want to shell out $200 at the home stores.
