I would talk to the parents one more time and let them know that their child destroyed your property and you have a witness. Be nice about it... but let them know you know it was their kid and that you've already asked once. I would even ask the parents to pay for replacement of the lights. If it continues after that, call the Sheriff's department and file a report for vandalism and trespassing. If you or someone in your household is home and it happens again, get it on video tape. That way you have indisputable evidence as to who was doing it. If it has to go as far as getting th

Sorry, but that is not correct. First off, they are part of the Department of Homeland Security, not the DOT. Secondly, they are most definitely military. The legal basis for the Coast Guard is Title 14 of the United States Code, which states: "The Coast Guard as established January 28, 1915, shall be a military service and a branch of the armed forces of the United States at all times." Upon the declaration of war or when the President directs, the Coast Guard operates under the authority of the Department of the Navy.

If you want your stuff backed up securely, but still be readily accessible, buy yourself a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. If you already have a small network in your house, it will just plug in to your switch. If you don't have one, you'll need a small switch or hub also. You can get them in a couple of disc configurations and do disc mirroring or you can get them with 3 or more discs and do RAID 5. Linksys, and a few other companies, make some nice little NAS boxes. You'll have to buy the hard drives separately, because you can pick what size you want to use. The Link

Maybe if you read what she wrote again... "I am thinking the property owner of the entire shopping complex?" My "diatribe" wasn't in reference to her question, but the statement she made about liability. I said nothing about the question... What I said was in response to the last sentence. And as I stated, that's what is wrong with this country. We want to apply blame and liability over the wrong people... Start making the offenders pay instead of a hard working person who is trying to earn a living by owning a business that serves the public. You're right... it is the

Are you kidding? Really? How about the damn driver that is committing the offense? It's not the property owners responsibility to tell people how and when to drive. The person driving the vehicle is the one who is responsible and charged to use due caution. If you are going to pin it on the property owner, then you have to pin it on the pedestrian too. Pinning it on either is not right... That's the problem with this country these days... we want to blame and hold people responsible OTHER than the people who commit offenses and endanger other peoples lives.

I may be mistaken, but I'm thinking I remember that the fed's passed a law a few years back that basically told the banks/mortgage companies that they cannot charge you for paying a loan off early. I think I'd be getting a lawyer consult.

Actually, no it isn't. They don't get that "convenience fee." They are using a processing/clearing house company. You pay on the website, but the backend is actually going to a 3rd party payment processing company. That "convenience fee" is how the processing company makes their portion of the money. It's just like buying a concert or circus ticket from TicketMaster. You pay a convenience fee, over and above, the actual cost of a ticket. TicketMaster isn't going to provide their ticketing services for free and neither is the company the does the processing for the government off

I believe that is correct. Sounds like a call to the Consumer Action Service / Clark Howard is in order! Also, as someone else said, BBB. Another thing, did you actually SIGN a new contract or was it strictly verbal? If you signed the contract, did you read it thoroughly? If not, they may have added that stipulation, in which case, you are screwed. If they did not, then you have grounds to stand. If it was strictly verbal (over the phone), tell them to take a hike that you didn't agree to such of a contract and that if they try to collect or hit your credit, you will ta

My comment wasn't really directed at you, but rather all the people who were telling you it's illegal, he can't possibly be doing it legally, or he can't be doing that while in jail, etc. etc. etc. The fact is that a judge can do a lot of things with sentencing that most people don't know about. You got a lot of people answering here that haven't a clue as to what the real situation is... therefore, they haven't a clue as to what is really going on. And as I said before, if you want to know they truth, contact the Sheriff's office and the DOL. They may not tell you the exact cir

New version-We Are The World 25 For Haiti

Oh no! Can't do that. Then you'd find out who really can't sign at all. I'd be willing to bet 80% of those people can't sing worth a crap and most all of it's computer assisted. A few of them couldn't sign good with it turned on... much less without it. -
Good grief... "He can't" or "He can".... you're asking people who *THINK* they know. You nor anyone else here knows the condition of his jail time or the conditions that he is in jail. You don't know what conditions the judge set for his jail nor anything else. Nobody here KNOWS. If you are concerned, call the Sheriff's department in the county where the jail is and call the DOL. NOBODY here with all their expertise knows what the situation is. If you're concerned, place the phone calls. If there is a violation, it will likely be looked in to, either by the Sherif

You base it off the previous years amount... that's exactly the way the mortgage company does it. If your taxes go up, they just raise the amount that goes in to escrow the next year. If your taxes go down, they reduce the amount that goes to the escrow account the next year. You're MUCH better off putting it in the bank and collecting the interest on it. Otherwise, you are letting them have your interest. Put it in a short term CD, which has a higher interest rate that a typical savings account. Just make sure you can cash it out before your tax bill comes due.

Not quite right indeed, but to add/clarify... Cobb (or any other department authorized to use radar) can write a 5 mph over ticket, clocked by radar/laser, if it is in a school zone or a construction/work zone. The 10 mph rule does not apply in those zones.

I won't. I just hope idiots like this don't take innocent people out when they end up killing themselves.

I don't believe any of it until I read on the package, "The state of California has determined that the product may cause cancer...."

First off, nothing has really changed. It has always been knives, rifles, pistols, combat hatches, etc.. etc.. etc... That is nothing new and it's said it on the back of my firearms permit since day 1 (and I've gone through several of them). No, concealing a baseball is not, unless you are in a situation that gives presumption or intent of using it as a weapon. Walking in to a jewelry store with one under a trench coat and walking in to a sporting goods place with it under your coat while raining is two different scenarios that are treated on an individual basis. Anything can be

Your nephew is mis-informed. #1. McDonald's doesn't sell ice-cream. Their ice-cream "product" is yogurt and has been since about 1990 or so. All the shakes, sundae's, and soft-serve cones are made from yogurt. If you notice, they do not list their ice-cream type products as "milk shakes" or "ice cream". They used too. They changed the "naming" when they went to yogurt, because a 'yogurt shake' is not a 'milk shake'. #2. It doesn't contain animal fat. McDonald's, around the same time frame, started using vegetable oil for all their fried foods (french fries, nuggets, fish fille

Correct, *should* be. The problem is that few people today are actual mechanics... they are nothing more than parts changers. VERY VERY few people truly know how to properly rebuild a transmission anymore. The other problem is that a large majority of shops rebuild them with aftermarket junk parts. The factory parts cost more and they go for the cheap crap. There is a reason factory parts cost more. If you get a factory rebuilt trans, it will many times, be better than the original unit that came in the vehicle to begin with... This is because when one gets rebuilt, it genera

What you mean and what you type can get someone in a LOT of trouble who doesn't know the difference... Wrong. A GFCI IS a absolutely a circuit breaker. It interrupts the electrical circuit (opens it) to stop the flow of electricity. A "Regular" circuit breaker is designed to protect from over-current draw. GFCI is designed to protect against an imbalance between the current flowing from hot to neutral. And just an FYI, that point of disconnect IS "pre-determined," as you put it. It works on a different "trip" principle, but it most definitely IS a circuit breaker.
-
Outlets do not get wired in series, nor does anything else in your house. If you have four outlets on a circuit, they are all wired in parallel. If they were wired in series, your voltage would drop, divisible by the number of outlets being used. The GFCI is nothing more than a receptacle with a circuit breaker built in to it, so when it trips, it opens the circuit from itself on down.

Would you clarify this please? I don't question bartered goods being taxable. But here is the way I understand it: Service in general, in normal business operation is not "sales" taxable, only the goods. If I run a automotive shop and I charge $100 labor to fix your car and $50 in parts, the only thing I am required to collected on is the parts. I am not even required to collect tax if I sell it for what I purchased it for and the tax was paid when I bought it. If we barter on equal services, I have gained nothing. If I gain from the service bartered more than the value of w

What year is it Paulding County Government?
Nitro replied to hurstrsq's topic in Paulding County NEWS
And by "Country Folk" you mean American people, right? Seems like everyone wants the government, no matter on what scale (local, state, or federal) to take care of them. I'm with you. I'm even willing to let them stop with the education... It's been proven that private schooling is far superior. Other than that, keep the government out of my hair and let me do my own thing as long as it doesn't hurt or infringe on someone else. -
What year is it Paulding County Government?
Nitro replied to hurstrsq's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Well, you might want to educate yourself as well.... #1. The health department is NOT a county department. It's a state department. The county has NO control or say so of what the health department does. The county has NO employees that work at the health department. It's called the "Paulding County Health Department" because of it's location. Not because of it's association to the county government. ...and the information on the counties website is SOLELY there for convenience of the citizens. If the information is outdated, it is most likely because the STATE has not provided -
Right, to each his own... However, your statement that if you were to purchase a "foreign" vehicle, I'm curious as to why you would skip Japanese vs. any other "foreign" vehicle. The "Buy American" ideal is to support American business. It isn't specifically aimed at Japanese, it's aimed at any vehicle that isn't American. Why do you specifically exclude Japanese? As far as problems with Honda air bags with no other makers having problems? What does that have to do with it? The maker of the air bags sells them to Honda. They sold them bad product. They could have

They would succeed if they had a history of building quality product and stopped letting the unions bully them around. Yes, I'd have loved to been able to say that I would buy nothing but an American built product. But #1. There is no such thing anymore. #2. History of the American built automobile makes me take my business where it benefits me the most. I will not give my money to a company, JUST because they are American. I will give my money to the company that provides the best product for my dollar. That, historically, has not been the American automobile com
