  1. I've heard all sorts of stories as to why people don't like them... I've heard they are no good on Indian reservations because of Grant. They are supposedly bad luck to gamblers. In fact, you'll never receive a payout in Vegas in $50's... never. No casino will issue $50 bills as payment. They will take them, reluctantly, but never pay out with them. It's also a racing superstition. Racers don't like to get their winnings paid out in $50 bills. In racing, it's kind of like the team wearing green or having anything green on the race car. I've heard that they are too e
  2. No, unless you have some pre-arranged contract with the employer, they are not required to pay you for anything other than what you work.
  3. Actually, your "BAD: He don't. CORRECT: He didn't. She didn't. It didn't. I don't." isn't correct. "He Don't" even though incorrect, would be "He do not," which is present tense. I didn't, she didn't, it didn't are all past tense. Correct would be "He doesn't, she doesn't, it doesn't, and I don't."
  4. Uhh.... ok. Not sure what constituted that remark, but whatever. Because I won't loose sleep for someone getting hurt while intentionally breaking the law? That makes me a badass? Ok, if you say so.
  5. Well, thanks for the history lesson, but I know what the crusades were about. When did I say the crusades were offensive vs. defensive? The fact is that Christian's fought the war in the name of God & Christ. Rule of land is governed and over-taken by governments, not religions or religious zealots. The simple fact that the Roman Catholic church was the largest 'military force' fighting the Muslims, is the point I was making... It wasn't Rome, France, Spain, etc... it was the "church" fighting. Therefore, in their eyes, their war was "just." Defensive or offensive, doesn't
  6. Let me put it this way... The bible is interpreted in many different ways, sometimes. You may believe that it says that Christian's are supposed to be the "peace makers" and that they should NEVER engage in war. Someone else may interpret the bible as Christian's are supposed to be the "peace makers" and sometimes that involves stepping in a conflict or protecting yourself/others in a conflict and conquering the 'evil' side. By very nature, Christian's are warriors against evil. "Onward Christian soliders..." Some may interpret that song as a metaphor to combat evil with nothing but sm
  7. It absolutely flabbergasts me at how many people are so concerned about proving or disproving the radiation theories of the scanners. Not one person seems to give a damn about their Constitutional rights being violated. Absolutely amazing. Our founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves.
  8. Huh? Bikes have to follow the same rules of the road as automobiles. You do not have to yield to a bicycle in any situation where you wouldn't normally have to yield to another automobile. If you had continued through that intersection, after a complete stop, and the bike hit you, he would be at fault, not you. Every time I go through that intersection, I see bicyclists blow that stop sign... not even slow down. I'm not going to intentionally hit one, even if he's in the wrong, but one day, if I pull across after a legal stop and it's my turn to cross and one darts out in front
  9. Are you familiar with the crusades? War started by "Christians" pushing their beliefs on other religions. The "Christian way" in true history is no better than some of the religious fanatical wars that we face today. Hardly "peace makers." BTW, yes, I am a Christian... In current times, the Islamic ways are really no different than what the Christian's did. Christianity, while in theory and what is supposed to be, a peaceful religion, is throughout history, hardly that.
  10. Not to mention, just because someone doesn't see them patrol, doesn't mean they aren't. Is everyone looking out their windows and doors ALL the time? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say no. Charging for patrols? I'm with you... BS!
  11. Just a note... ALL Marine MOS's are combat. A Marine is a rifleman, first and foremost, over any other job they have. But that's good that he is 'urban combat' trained. As an NRA instructor, I've seen a LOT of military people who think they know how to protect their home. And while some do, many have never thought of some of the scenarios that I've taught them or brought to their attention, because, I as said previous, war combat and home protection are two completely different things. Just practice with your gun... when it all comes down to the time, it has to be inst
  12. Piece of advice for you and not one single intent of disrespect to your husband. I know Marine's are trained to kill and they are trained to do so very well. However, being a Marine and even being in combat is COMPLETELY different than being in your house and having someone come in on you. The Marine's don't train for home invasion and home defense. While I have no doubt that he is capable to helping you get accustomed to a gun and shooting straight, there is so much more to it than that... When a Marine goes in to combat or has to fight someone, he knows what he's going in
  13. And, your point is? You said it was the same thing as the TSA scanners. It's not. I didn't say anything at all about what you "feel." You said they were treading on your Constitutional rights... They aren't. I think the law is ridiculous, myself. There should heavier enforcement of existing laws and severe punishment for people who are found to be using a phone while driving, but we don't need another law to do that.
  14. While jamming of the signals is prohibited, there are ways to stop the signal from leaving the vehicle without jamming it. Ever heard of a "Faraday cage?" It would be quite easy to incorporate a Faraday cage in to an automobile. It would prevent any radio signal from leaving the passenger compartment of the automobile, but it is not a jamming device. Faraday cages are perfectly legal devices. BTW, if it's the government suggesting this, it doesn't matter if there's a law against jamming or not. They will simply create an addendum or exclusion to the law that says only frequencies
  15. I REALLY hope you are kidding? It's COMPLETELY different and no one is "seizing your ability" to contact the outside world. Doesn't your vehicle have a window and a door? What about truckers? Cell phones haven't been around forever. We got along just fine without them, before they became popular in the 90's. Nobody is depriving you of property. You can still possess the phone while in your vehicle. The air waves and the signals do not belong to you. You haven't been deprived of any property. It's currently against the FCC regulations, so it doesn't really matter... but that i
  16. No need too. Georgia now has the "Castle Doctrine" which allows a property owner to protect is life AND property with the use of deadly force and is no longer required to retreat as first resort. Even without the "Castle Doctrine" being in effect in Georgia, they aren't slashing tires with their finger. They will have some sort of implement (knife) that can easily be considered a weapon, which automatically justifies you.
  17. #1. Don't even respond to the letter and certainly don't call the attorney's office again. They likely record the calls and they can trick you in to saying something you didn't mean. #2. I would find an attorney, some do free initial consultations, and run the whole thing by them and see what they say. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum, but honestly, I wouldn't go on the word of anyone in case like this, except an attorney. #3. Let them sue you. You have nothing to hide. If they do sue you, then when it's all over, you can request compensation for your wa
  18. Umm... Was there a reason you repeated what I said? YOU said that they were using radio technology and not x-rays, so the radiation theory is debunked. For knowing so much about radiation, I would have thought you knew that radio waves were radiation. Yes, radiation, when controlled and issued in proper amounts can definitely be beneficial. However, even "beneficial" doses of radiation can be harmful, if exposed to it over and over. That's why radiologist wear lead lined blankets and stand behind a wall lined with lead, when they take your x-rays at the hospital. That's w
  19. Who said anything about radiation diagnostics? Radiation is radiation... too much of it from ANY source is bad. It doesn't matter if it's medical diagnostics, cellular broadcasting, TV broadcasting, x-rays, or simple heat from a radiator. You said they use radio waves instead of x-rays and that debunks a theory. It doesn't debunk anything. It doesn't matter which they use, too much of either can be harmful.
  20. Umm... Do you know what radiation is? I hate to break it to you, but RADIO waves ARE radiation just as much as LIGHT waves are radiation. Ever hear the theory that using cell phones causes brain tumors and such? Cell phones are nothing but two way radios. They radiate energy, just like x-rays are a radiant light energy. Radio waves are just as dangerous as x-rays. Ya know that little device that many kitchens have in them called "Microwave" ovens? Do you know how those work? They RADIATE radio "microwaves' through your food and excite the molecules, which is what COOKS your
  21. Well, I guess you haven't read my previous posts on the subject, but yes, they do violate the 4th amendment. I guess I'll explain it again. Yes, I do have a choice to make, to fly or not. I make a contract between myself and the airline. I pay them money; they fly me to a destination I choose. Right? Right. Fine. If the AIRLINE stipulates that I will go through these procedures or the contract is void, that's fine. There is no violation of the Constituion there. That is a disagreement over business and I can choose to take my business elsewhere. Free Market. Now, when the GOVE
  22. Well, for one thing, I don't wear sunglasses very often... So, no, that's wrong. Secondly, I'd be willing to bet that I put more miles on an airplane than you do. I am a frequent flier and a diamond medallion level one, at that. You don't get that medallion status by not flying or being a frequent flier. It just amazes me that you just don't get it. You just don't get the fact that this is a direct violation of the Constitution. That's the problem these days... People don't care about the Constitution. They want the government to baby them and be their security blanket. I got
  23. Mine did that a few weeks back. Tried bringing in another remote from the other room with no difference. I finally unplugged the receiver and left it unplugged for about 20 or 30 minutes. When I plugged it back in, everything was fine and has been ever since.
  24. What difference does it make that Cobb has their 'sensors' set high? What does that change? So, they are set high. That doesn't mean that a properly trained person operating the machine can't tell the difference between the amount of metal the unit detects. Sanford Stadium? Funny, I went through there not too long ago and left my belt on and I was wearing boots... didn't go off. Whether or not your heels went off still makes no difference. The fact remains, the machines can be set as to how sensitive they want them to be. And they make different beeping noises, both pitch and
  25. That is totally false. Do you have any idea how a metal detector works? They work the exact same way a traffic signal sensor in the road. They energize and detect magnetic fields of different metals. Metal detectors have sensitivity settings. They can be adjusted to sense things as small as the tacks in your shoes or not go off unless something as big as a rocket launcher passes through them. Different metals and allows have different densities and those can be detected by the metal detector as well. That's how some of them can identify the different metals they are picking up.
