In his book, Frontier Violence: Another Look, author W. Eugene Hollon, provides us with these astonishing facts: In Abilene, Ellsworth, Wichita, Dodge City, and Caldwell, for the years from 1870 to 1885, there were only 45 total homicides. This equates to a rate of approximately 1 murder per 100,000 residents per year. In Abilene, supposedly one of the wildest of the cow towns, not a single person was killed in 1869 or 1870. Zooming forward over a century to 2007, a quick look at Uniform Crime Report statistics shows us the following regarding the aforementioned gun control “pa

I wholely support the 2nd ammend. and believe you should be able to carry anywhere. But with that comes the reality that there will always be some numb nuts that does something soo danged stupid that politicians will pass a law to "protect us from ourselves". As I stated earlier, to use a weapon in a room full of people screaming and blindly running people takes someone who is truly confident and capable. I expect that from LEOs and military and the few regular citizens but not anyone who just feels the need to "carry". Am I tap dancing that fence top well enough for you? I really wouldn't min

I disagree with an "unreasonable risk". The big question is what is reasonable risk? I do not feel the need to go to church armed. even while a police officer I did not bring an off duty weapon to church. It could be needed, one never knows and there are instances where it was readily apparant that an armed person MIGHT have indeed been just what was needed at church. I feel that the laws are there to enforce what would generally be considered a prudent action or way of doing things. I have no trouble with the concept of being able to carry in a bar or at a school event or even at church. It i

Horrible People! Terrible People! Westboro Baptist Church -

I think you misunderstood me. As far as I understand their (not mine) view, they are saying the soldiers that die in combat overseas die because WBC believes God wants them dead for fighting. I was stating my understanding of their beliefs not my own. -

I support their right to free speech but I am lost on their "rational" for their demonstrations. I can ALMOST follow it for the soldiers. But I definately do not agree with them on it though. Saying it is "God's will" that a soldier died in combat... Ok... If you believe that. But I have never understood the whole "in your face" disrespect to the grieving families of the fallen. And now this?!? What is their rational for this? Going to see a movie is some sort of moral crime to them? These folks were not soldiers nor were they involved in any kind of military action. Anyway, you could count -
I do understand your concern but you do realize the net revenue to the department has gone down with the home values. One would hope the employees wages have not nor would one expect the expenses to just drop ethics the home values. So what is to be done? Cut staff, operations, wages or raise the mils to get funding BA k to needed levels.

Mine didn't help me much. They now practice head shots. 1 bad guy 2 cops 3 shots. 2 shots to the face of seperate cops and one to the back. Not bad 100% accuracy.

Better to ne tried by 12 than carried by 6.

I think for most it would be more accurate to say they will see a $57 increase in the reduced amount they would have paid.

Why Do Some People Think Women Should NOT Vote?

I'm sorry TP... Where in your fantasy land did you hear me say that/ Oh... That's right... YOU DIDN'T! But I have already professed my belief that there out to be a teired voting system to mitigate those that only vote in order to get "stuff" for themselves. While I vote to get stuff for me, it usually also applies to others. ie. National security and a military and National Parks. Not just to have the government put a roof over my head and food on my table. I'll take care of those things myself as you should. -

I know it is a fictional idea anda pipe dream but I'll state it anyway. I would love to see a new continent rise up out of the Pacific Ocean and be of the same approximate size and resource allocation as the US. Then we could see all those that actually pay taxes move there. Really... Those that do not pay taxes couldn't afford to move anyway (according to them) and the government won't deport them (heck they won't even deport illegals). So then you would have the 49% of the "gimme" US population sitting here looking at each other while the businesses and individual tax payers have all gone. I -
That answer does not address the fact that we are requiring the use of corn ethanol in our fuel. Corn ethanol is wasteful and returns less energy than required to produce it yet government mandates it. And by doing so inflates the cost of corn and feed prices which all trickle back to the consumer in the form of higher food prices. So is this the time for the apropos "I told you so"?

How is that Ethanol mandate working for you now?

You never know what you had until it's gone. In this case a bunch of regular folks will be scratching their collective heads going "what happened to all the pools". Simple dummy, you were not paying attention as usual while our wonderful government again butted into our lives and used it's abusive powers to "make things better" for us once again. now we have no public pools to show for it. Yup, my life is much better for their interference here.

This was a first. They apparantly just started wearing the same size shoe. as for the rest of the clothing, there is little way they could swap any of that yet. As much as my wife and I have gone out of our way for good shoes for my daughter ( she has always been hard to fit with shoes ) it was surprising to me that this happened. I understand where you ladies are coming from on the issue of her wanting the same shoes. However, my intent was not to get folks started on that but rather figure out how two folks who both wanted the same shoes got ready to check out with neither of them actually H
