Even though he got absolutely no gifts from us, as per my previous topic. We started of with Golden Corral for breakfast and then to Kohls for some shoes for my wife. He did get a ball cap, but seeing as he recently has taken a liking to them and refuses to wear sunglasses to protect his eyes I will allow that as normal clothing. Being on sale didn't hurt either. Then a round of mini-golf for the family and no charge for the kids! Dang, it must be my Birthday. Some frozen O's at the Varsity and then home. Great Lasagna made by the wife. And a bit later, CAKE!! Oops, I got the Birthday specia

Unfortunately most like mine prefer the penalty method. They charge you more if you do smoke or dip. I would rather see incentives for iving a healthy lifestyle and staying healthy. i also think that would stand a better chance of holding up under titigation. Car insurance companies have done that for many years. they do not charge you extra for getting a ticket, they charge you less for having a clean record. Well until they add a surcgarge for accidents after they set your rate and you get one.

Boondocks... Enough said.

Barry and AP, I have locked it away in another room. He defeated the regular locking knobs so I swapped to Keyed. He can now defeat those (it really isn't hard) in a minute or 2. All he wants is the copy function anyway and he doesn't need a computer to do that. And to all, Thanks very much for your assistance and help. It does seem that we have put this monster to rest now. He has not touched it since the begining of this topic even though it is right there in the dining room. Yes our dining room seems to be a catchall area for us. We seldom use it as we eat in the kitchen. I am very pro

As I layed it out earlier, It is not the ACA per se, it is the costs that will go with it. You have clear that cost hurdle (that of hiring a person) before you can / should hire a new employee. As I showed, if you are on the bubble of no HC Vs. Required to have it, there is a VERY large cost hurddle to clear. You do see that don't you? It is the same with a business owner knowing that if he wants to expand he will need a new facility. That is a big cost that must be covered. And tht cost may be too much to clear and the owner just says "I'll stay where I am for now" and literally turn down wor

You were saying there was demand and they were turning down business. And most businesses in the US are indeed socking away huge amounts of cash and you can't get cash if there is no demand for your products. Do you deny that fact? But demand is low as well, except for the basics.

They will pay overtime and hire subs way longer than otherwise needed mrnn. That has always been the way of business hiring for just the reasons I set forth earlier. You have to clear that hurdle before you hire. And yes... some might even turn business away until they think the time is right to expand.

Now that I can agree with. It is like all the Liberals who kept saying that Even under PIBO's oppressive business polices and eddicts that all businesses would still expand, there was no reason not too. We said they would not and hold onto all their money and pay down any and all debt. Now the Liberals are screaming bloody murder that the companies are not expanding and hiring while sitting on huge amounts of cash. Please insert "HUGE we told you so here". I know... I'm being redundent. sorry

Try looking at it this way. If hiring just ONE more (which is a big increase for small business) employee puts you into that category requiring you to pay HC or Fines that you were not paying before, how much business would you have to add before it was again at the same level of profitability. If I do not provide HC (I know, I'm a jerkwad boss) for my 49 employees and was thinking about expanding. I know I would need to 1. Cover a new cost in fines of $100,000 / year 2. Cover the cost of HC that I now have to provide. Either way, that is a huge hurdle to clear and I must know the

I have heard through our classes that there is a very high prevaleance of these deseases coming here from across our southern border with the illegal immigrants. But it is not only or mostly the Mexicans.

I would be a lot happier with a "national HC System" if it was based of a national sales tax. That would give everyone a "base" level insurance plan.If that was all you wanted or could afford then that is what you got. But if you wanted more or a better plan then you could take that amount to your employer and apply it to their upgraded insurance plan. Let's say that base plan was worth $12,000. And your employer's was $20,000. Then you take your $12,000 to the employer and pay the difference in whatever manner you and your employer decide. That way EVERYONE pays something and it will likely

I am not the only one who sees what this law is going to do. Unintended consequences and all. I am just putting the info out there. So what did we say about small business and regular and this administrations poilicies, the economy and how they would react? "They will not expand, invest or hire". Oh they will... they have to... just wait and see. 3+ years later, what are the Liberals bitching about? "why are the businesses just hording all their money, not expanding or hiring. " Well, lets see... I told you so." but not you in particular RM BTW I voted... I'm allowed to BIOTCH al

So to be clear... 1-2% more for Cheese, veggies, meat, sauce, wheat, paper goods and all the other ingredients. 1% more to the dairy from the cheese and meat (beef) places, feed places fuel for transport. Then there is fuel for growing the wheat, fertilizing the wheat and taking it to market. Fuel to bring feed to the cows. Are we begining to see the pattern. This will be a systemic increase across the entire US economy. Will it be a total of 1%, 2% or even more? Let's say it stays at 1%. That means a family making $100,000 (neglecting) true taxes lost from pay, will pay a $1,000 / year sur ch

Wow!! I guess it is a good thing that I have had the same account since college. Was at GA Fed. then First Union then Wachovia, now Wells Fargo and have written a ton of checks since 1982. You know sometimes you can see the persons screen when they access your account... Right there on top it says "High Value Customer". :yahoo: I have no fees, don't pay for checks get free stuff with my account like safety boxes. So I guess there is such a thing as long time customer appreciation.

That is exactly what I keep saying. If I could only channel his energies for good then we would have something amazing.
