Nope... many of us are smart enough to understand that cuts to these programs will be required as well as tax increases. Some of us just are tired of the Dems getting their way with you go first THEN we will sacrafice something without demagouging the living hell out of the GOP. It is well known that an increase to 100% will not cover the deficeit. So then what? And are you going to do it without saying "they want to throw granny off the cliff"? Nope didn't think so. This time you go first.

Or you can consider that as the answer to how to cut our own throats financially.

People watching extrordinare. Kids love the rides Cobb used to alternate between Six Flags and the fair for their employee appreciation days. We have not done this for quite a few years now as it was one of the very first things to get cut.

Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
nschur replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Almost 20 years into a public safety career is not the time to change career paths. I have continued my primary side and added another side job through my primary employer. So while we are ok, I am working more for less as are most folks. -
Please don't take this the wrong way... are you related to Postman ? Just wondering.

If you want to be technical about it... in Aug / Sep 2008 the Dow was at 11400. We are at 13,0000 now. -

You keep track of things mrnn ... where was the market at before the crash? Lots of new gains in the market? Come on, you can do better than that. The market has returned to levels near where of was before the crash. Yes. Had you sold stock while it was down you lost money. If you held it, you are back where you were before and maybe a little better. If you bought during the lows, you are much better off than before. These folks made money at the expense of those that paniced or just had to sell while the market was down. Also the market and home prices are not tied at the hip. -

For me / my family it is two fold. The key for us is the time frame. Better off than a year ago... definately. 4 years ago... DEFINATELY NOT!! 4 years ago We were both working good jobs near home making in the low 6 figures. I was only a couple of years into frozen pay rates and massive insurance increases. During that time my wife lost her job and was unemployed for over a year. EVERY penny I earned on my side job went to make up the difference in pay. Now I am going to have my 6th year without a pay raise, had to take furlough days last year and my insurance is substantially more. I did mana -
I'm pretty sure cousin it would be offended if somebody "stuck" him.

That sure is a LOT of laughter. Me thinks you have experience in this sort of thing... Anyway I concur the paint did not have time to properly cure. To PROPERLY repair it you will have to spackle, sand, prime and paint. Yes I. Know it is a Buchanan of work. If you do not you will always have the crater where the paint peeled off. If you can live with it then just touch it up. I'm. Not certain another what TP said about eggshell. It does seem yo have merit as I think about it. The paint will probably have a higher sheen in that area bit it should not be that noticeable.

PLEASE... don't touch Dis TP

Turning it upside down was supposed to make it 69. No it does not come out that way but that was the implication.

LGM, my mother is from Germany as is my oldest sister. My sister is probably too busy but my mother might just like a little company. She is not shut in and has a busy Seniors schedule but she might just be willing to chat if you are willing to go to her in Pwd Spg. I would have to ask her if you would like. I speak it but not fluently. It might be neat for you to sit in with her and my oldest sister together. And my mom, her sister, brother and his wife ( still living in Berlin) will all be here for the manual October visit very soon. I love it because I speak and understand both English and

That was whole system replacement to a 15 SER system. The furnace / blower unit will be a 4 ton as they don't have 3.5 for those. This is not a heat pump either. My coil has a leak and the system is 10 years old so I thought I would replace the whole thing with enough yo cover the finished basement that is almost done.
-
I just got 3 quotes for a 3.5 ton with a couple of new vents and a return for the basement. The prices were all upper 6 to lower 7 thousand. The one Rep said a 4 ton would add 3 or 4 hundred. To the cost. My quotes were from Rainwater, coolray and Casteel. From lowest to highest. Rainwater also gave a price of 5100 on a 13 SER UNIT.

That would depend on the round I guess. The Black Talon rounds we used are designed to fragment upon entry making fragments unlikely to exit. Not impossible just unlikely.

I had a cyclist zip across seaboard (?) on the SCT at the parking lot right in front of me. I had stopped, cleared the immediate area and had begun to move. Mind you SCT traffic is REQUIRED TO STOP THERE AS WELL. This Guy was going about as fast as you can go on a bike and never even thought of stopping. He was real lucky that I have good reflexes, wasn't accelerating hard and was not a half second earlier in my start. That was almost a very ugly scene and he never even looked at cross traffic.

It is probably too late for West Metro. We had to be signed up by a month ago

Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

Oh, no offense taken at all. I am just as floored by this stupidity and lack of good common sense. I could not believe what happened either and had I not been through it, I wouldn't believe it either. And this has nothing to do with the DEFACS meeting I had over the small bruise on Dis, jr's cheek that his doctor reported. I had a whole other dealing with them over him. Just because my 6 y/o daughter pushed my 4/ y/o son into her steel bed foot board and the doctor didn't believe me. I kid you not, the ruise was about 1/2 inch in diameter. They went to their school, interviewed the -
Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

In most cases the parents do not have to report. For those of us that are, we can not use common sense to say " they were just playing doctor" and put a stop to it. We will be prosecuted if, for instance, one of the girls is told she can not date so and so. She then gets mad and tells a counselor about the abuse that happened years ago and that the parents knew about. Then they come after the parents. discover they had a duty to report and BAM!!! You are now in jail, lost your job and your pension. Yee Haww... just what I needed. Would you be willing to take that chance with 2 girls and a boy -
Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

Yes, the law is clear. They, DEFACS and the LE agencies seem to be very keen on their enforcement even to the detrement of the people or against the wishes of the victim. Common sense has truly left the building on this. Hope that if this ever happens to you that you do not fall under the reporting rules and have a good job / retirement on the line. -
Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

I went straight to the Fire Chief and laid it all out for him. He agreed it was likely required and we sent it through legal. Ruling... Reportable. And we have a very small window of time to deal with. 48 -72 hours max. however he agreed that since I had come directly to them for assistance, there would be very little chance of it coming back on me had it taken a little longer. -
Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

Yes. He was in Juvenile not the adult jail. The county wanted to try him as an adult. We got lucky and he was tried as a juvenile. I called the detectives and had words with them over the fact that they brought him in for an "interview". They already had the whole story from my daughter and the other girl. no one denied anything nor had contradicting stories. They "elected to arrext him late on a Thur. knowing full well that juvenile court had already adjourned for that day and would not start again until Tues. I think that is right. Basically by arresting him then, it garunteed him a stay in -
Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse

The county brought charge of Statutory rape, sexual assault, soddomy and Battery if I recall the charges correctly. There was touching of sexual organs and a mouth, and attempted intercourse. So no, not reporting it was not an option. When you consider the way the law reads, what happened and then factor in the probability that at some point one of the girls or the boy will say something to someone that also falls under mandatory reporting and then we would have been royally screwed.
