  1. I just want to know that since "they" want to ban all references to the Confederacy and it's Battle Flag after the shooting in Savannah, can we now ban all mention of Islam because of this shooting? It just makes sense...
  2. Depending on how it's written I would think that computers and books could be considered capital items if they were included in the resolution. They are good for multiple years and not disposable. As I recall, Cobb was thinking about using their SPLOST to supply laptops to every student at one point, it only got shot down because that use wasn't included in the resolution. On the issue of turf fields at high school, I have to wonder if the injury rate is higher on them since many athletes at that level are still learning their trade. One article I found The above is the
  3. Been a good summer so far, I think the longest we went without a shower was about 2 weeks and that only once, usually it's been less than a week. Yard looks better than it has in years. Tomatoes suck, but I think we got bad ones from Bonnies. Green peppers are the largest I've ever had.
  4. All I can say is READ THE DETAILED SPLOST RESOLUTION rather than the propoganda they put on the ballot if you really want to know what you are voting for.
  5. Pool is back full again, that indicates we go over an inch in North Paulding. Several trees down along Dabbs Bridge Rd including a pretty big pine.
  6. Greetings, Salutations and Hallucinations!
  7. New Horizon's re-gained communications with Earth on schedule tonight, showing it survived the close pass. Now for 16 months of downloading all the information that it collected in 22 hours...
  8. We have overnight visitors like that quite a bit.
  9. I think its 10 per day. At least some of mine seem to reset every day.
  10. Shoot, I'm going turn the air down to 70, have all the kids drive their own cars when we go out to eat next and burn some brush just to save the hairless mole!
  11. It was unfortunate that the start of the law was so close to the 4th that the early enthusiasm didn't get burned out before the big celebration of the 4th was here. Give it a month and it will all settle down. As CC stated, it's the newest "Gee Whiz" thing right now.
  12. somebody made a pile of money this year, I hear them 360 degrees!!
  13. About time. The embargo was a farce a long time ago. It obviously wasn't working.
  14. thanks for letting us know. Makes you wonder if the "Boss Hogs" of Paulding are trying to keep a lid on it. Guess it's time to start using that carry permit....
  15. Did the east paulding store get it's permit? I read that over 400 stores applied, but only 40 or so have been approved to open. There is an empty store up in Bartow on 113 that I guess didn't get the permit...
  16. Wow, we are getting our 60% chance of rain right now, and most of the 40% chance we missed yesterday. Looks like several of the gutters are clogged and the wife doesn't like me getting on the roof anymore. Looking for a recommendation of a bonded and insured gutter cleaner. Thanks
  17. Cause it's cheaper I imagine. The big show at Taylor farm is going to be on the 11th - I imagine they get a much bigger boom for the bucks on that date. Powder Springs is going to be on the 4th. Men In Blues is playing, we hope to be there.
  18. Happy Birthday Thad - Get well soon!
  19. A science fiction writer that I like wrote a paragraph that I think explains most of the trouble we have now. Rather than having people in office that want to do a public service, we have this: So we vote for those who promise the impossible, because they are willing to lie, to pass laws that are half thought out, and pander to our various groups beliefs to get back into office. Add that to your point above, that it also takes large amounts of funding to successfully run for office and you have them pandering to those who pay the bills as well. I don't know what the answer is.
  20. We are seeing this more and more. Politicians on both sides proposing and passing laws without a single review or look at unintended consequences and how it might be abused. I think we need more engineers reviewing laws. We are taught to look out for every way something can go wrong, because many times people die if you screw it up. (Pinto gas tanks, air bag bombs, etc.)
  21. We have a right to drugs! The government should supply us with all we want, that would prevent the evil capitalists from making money off our addictions! Free Drugs! Free Drugs! Free Drugs!!
  22. Couldn't read the whole article since I don't subscribe, but yea, I couldn't finish another article about ISIS executing those men by drowning in a steel cage dropped in the water. That's a screwed up legal system. We're pretty self centered.
  23. A few weeks ago we noticed that a cardinal couple (male and female) had built a nest in the tree right outside our kitchen bay window. It's been really enjoyable watching them warm the eggs, then feed the chicks. (4). But like the Eagles, they flew away sometime Saturday, so now we just have an empty nest. On the plus side, we noticed a new nest in the crepe myrtle outside the the living room window this morning. Some kind of black bird, our view is blocked by one limb, but it is active. That one limb may just accidentally get trimmed soon while the birds are off the nest.
  24. Saw the sign today and wondered what it was like. Thanks.
