  1. Wonderful. I *knew* I should have gone to S.Ga this weekend instead of waiting until next weekend.
  2. They should just use this British interchange as a model!! I'm sure that Paulding drivers would find this much easier and quicker!
  3. That seems to be the way it works. The pipe blows, then after they come and fix that break, the additional stress on the pipe from from the first issue causes another break not far away. It seems like every time the water main on HGCR or Dabbs Bridge has a break, we can plan on losing water within two days from a second (or even a third) break. We're lucky, we're down the hill from the main, unless it's a long time repairing it, we have some water with really low pressure. Let's face it. The water infrastructure in this county is *way* undersized. I would guess that the county has
  4. Same with Gasoline and many other items. Prices jump quickly, come down very, very slowly. It's going to take a major chain pulling it's prices down to get market share to pull the others day.
  5. Even if it doesn't grow into a strong storm, fresh water flooding in Florida is a strong possibility. Lake Okeechobee is already close to full and is difficult for the corps to drain.
  6. Hmmm.. We'll see if this works. OK, it worked and also is updating automatically as the models run. As of 2PM Thursday, the northward turn is beginning to go away and it's looking more like a NO/Miss/Alabama hit.
  7. Somehow if someone had time to notice the kids, call the police, they get there, attempt to open the door and then talk a 4 year old into opening the door, it was longer than a "few" minutes, besides, there is no "few" minutes in a closed in car in a Georgia Summer. Good Job guys!!
  8. All I can say is have money ready. It cost $3000 for a 15x15 corner of mine to be broken up, dropped in the hole that had formed under it, a truckload of sand and gravel put in the rest of the hole, and 4 inches of concrete on top of that. Chumley's Paving did the work I still have no idea where all that dirt that was down there before went.
  9. Our dog was like that when young... stayed around the house most of the time, but occasionally would get wanderlust and we'd find him way down the street trying to find one of his doggie friends. Hope you find him soon Pubster.
  10. One, I'm not in the group that thinks restricting the police on asking to see your permit is a good thing as long as there are protections against harassment. The way the law is now is over line. What's the point of having permits if law enforcement is not allowed to ask for it? But it's typical of you to take the most extreme attitude and apply it to everyone that doesn't agree with you in everything. Voting *is* good. As long as you live where you are supposed to. As usual, most of the publications screaming about this are not telling the entire story. One key part that is
  11. If you change your voter's registration address but don't change your drivers license address, isn't that your own fault?
  12. Obviously you didn't get the joke.
  13. The bolded is a Red Herring argument that has nothing to do with the subject.
  14. Problem is that unless they have a college degree, most jobs now require a drug test as well. So the drug lusers are screwed. Liberals will now point to the food stamp program and claim it reduces crime as the Lusers will have no choice but a life of crime. So.... all the drug users who want food stamps move to Fulton and DeKalb? For the Win!!
  15. I found the 5 year plan from 2015, runs through 2019 and no new school constructions appears to be planned. 5 year plan Interesting that the school system had to pay for the traffic light at the North Paulding Complex entrance. Those suckers are not cheap. I guess they felt it was worth it for more safety for the buses.
  16. If anyone believes that *any* of these PACs actually do 25% of what they claim they do, they need to get with me as I have several charity's that they should donate to.
  17. That would empty the rolls very quickly. I've got a friend who was a manager at a big box store in the Hiram area, he told me his biggest problem is finding applicants that can stay off the crap long enough to pass the drug test. He told a few days ago that company policy is also that drug tests are required right after accidents above a certain value. One employee who had some stuff slide off the forklift (happens all the time with this material) quit right after the drug test, telling a friend at the store that he was sure he'd fail the test and get fired anyway. College educati
  18. if the $%^&*@$%#@ government hadn't used the excuse of "easy loan money" to reduce the funding supplied to the public college system, we'd still have a system where a person could get a degree at a reasonable price. When I started college in 1980, the cost to go to Kennesaw was $600 a year + books. I think towards the end of college span that had increased to to about $1000 a year, but I could still work part time and make those payments since they were spread out over 3 quarters. However, that's not a good option for kids now with it costing 5K or so a semester. How about abolis
  19. Now all we need is some laws on PUI (Posting under the Influence) on local websites...
  20. I've long complained that "recounts" with the current system are worthless since there is nothing to count! A paper trail that the citizen can confirm their votes on before depositing in a sealed container is critical to keeping the system honest, yet we have none. We are *asking* for hacking incidents to occur when you have no way to prove that they didn't!
  21. Friend of mine has done that with a lot of his fixtures. Works great, saves the old fixtures going to the dump.
  22. Our Godson lost control on HGCR going southbound in the S-Curve just before you get to Library. That road is nothing more than a paved horse trail from the 1940s. The county really needs to make straightening some of those curves and tilting them the correct way a priority or we are going to continue to have accidents on that road.
  23. From what I heard, the primary UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) went down and when they tried to switch to the backup, then it failed. I can't believe they wouldn't have a backup data center too, (what happens if that one catches fire?) but I guess they don't. There is a reason that most every telephone office in the old days would once a month or so shut down the mains and run off the batteries, then light off the generator for an hour or so. The only true way to test a backup is to use it. The old bell companies were the last of the truly 99.999% available services.
  24. Agreed on the lack of resources, but as we;; you cannot force anything on a person until they are proven to do something to endanger themselves or others. If they don't agree to get help, not much you can do. I've got a friend who's ex-wife has gone completely over the edge in religion (believes she is a prophet of God) and God told her she shouldn't do housework any more and that they should sell their cows and oh yea, he was going to hell because he didn't do what she said immediately. They are divorced now, but when married he couldn't get her to get help on her own and no one cou
  25. That's great!! I was planning on going, but ended up spending 12 hours taking my truck engine apart and then attempting to put it together again where it runs without the Server Engine Soon Light being on..... Glad it was successful.
