I'm depressed. I was a complete Discovery Health Junkie. They claim some of the shows will be on OWN too but I can't bring myself to check. Still mourning the loss of DHC.....that and they kept talking about it being insider shots of her season finales (or something) which I didn't care to see. They do, it replaced Discovery Health.....umm 272 I think

Wild pigs too! They run around the woods behind the neighborhood.

The Whiter Your Bread The Faster You're Dead

I do so need to give myself and my family a health makeover. We don't eat bad but we sure don't eat good either. I think it is also how you eat. I'm a firm believer in not reheating in plastic containers. I was also a believer in cloth diapers, not that you eat those but I think things we expose ourselves to also play a role. -

Thats true and good points. Obesity is on a rise in infants and children. It's such a sad thing. I wish it were easier and cheaper to eat healthy. -

Northeast Snow Storms 1 More Example of Climate Change

I'm kind of confused as to why all this snow and blizzard stuff out there is such a concern. Up until a few years ago I've lived out there and blizzards are the norm. It's just what happens. You can still see snow on the ground as late as June. There isn't a winter where I don't have memories of shoveling snow late and digging mounds of snow from the end of the driveway from when the plows would run. The flooding they mentioned in Boston & Scituate...heck thats not out of the norm any time of the year. It's a part of life when you live on the beach. I think the main issue with th -
I've grocery shopped around quite a bit. FoodLion has decent prices, is smaller but clean and has fewer lines which at times stinks but if you time it just right it shouldn't be an issue. The staff are always helpful and there are guides at the ends of the aisles to help you locate things which I thought was neat. The quality of the "lean beef bites" is good as is the ground beef stuff. Haven't tried their chicken yet but I'm sure it's fine. Kroger on 61/278 looooove. I know so many of the workers there and they are nothing but helpful. Clean, large and easy to navigate. My only issue

About time! That store is run down and dirty feeling. I hope the employees are relocated though. I hate going to the Hiram Kroger and would rather go out of my way to go to a newer, larger, cleaner store.

I'd start with the store manager

ok thought it sounded familiar but couldn't quite place it

Where is that place?

:clapping:

Yeah I'd be a bit reluctant also. My mom is heading down towards 278 now too. Said just lots of cars on the sides of the roads.

I have to agree with this. I wasn't looking on the PCSD website. I was sitting here sipping my coffee, tv on in the background, facebook up and Pcom in another window waiting for the time to come so I could tell the kids to get ready for the bus. I don't care how late the message came, I'm thankful that the county checked out the roads and determined it was not safe. Just because it may be clear in our area doesn't mean its not worse elsewhere and no life is worth risking.

Hubby went down Buchanan Hwy (from Roses area down to 278) with no issues other than people driving ultra slow with flashers on. Said there was little to no ice. Can't say about secondary roads though.
-
Holy smokes thats a far walk! I hope he makes it home safely. You have got to be pretty worried. My husband finally just got home from Atlanta. Almost 5 hours!
-
Awe I guess I was one of the idiots going 10-15mph When I was going about 20+ I was sliding around
-
What'd they close it due to ice? Are they salting? The first part of Buchanan Hwy was so icy earlier that I turned around and attempted to find "flatter" roads to travel versus the hilly ones.
-
Well, 2 hours later and I made it back from Hiram....

Just outside of it, Union Community -
I slipped twice and didn't know what it was until after I pulled over (thought my tire blew! lol) and damn near fell on my rear. I couldn't see the ice while driving. It's shiny in some spots and other spots really hard to see it. Our neighborhood is at the bottom of a steep hill on Buchanan Hwy. I'd hate to see the buses trying to turn left into the neighborhood while trying to not slip on the hill.

I feel completely blessed that I made it back home! Be careful out there everyone. So many cars flipped and on their sides, so many multi car accidents....so much ice! Stay safe!!

I'm a Masshole! I recall walking to school in the winter, we would have to pay to ride the school bus so many of us just walked. I also remember staying up all night to shovel the snow from the driveway (plows would end up piling the frozen snow up as they plowed the main roads) so my mom who worked 3rd shift could get in. Then I'd get to walk to school in the snow a few hours later haha
-
Of course!! I've got a class today and possibly will be running up to the kids school to help out after but I will get to them when I get back home. I'll leave myself a post it note so I don't forget haha
