  1. Not sure of the details, but basically, I think it's law that if the Federal Reserve is open, then banks have to be open. Doesn't necessarily have to be every branch of a bank, I would think. Doesn't have to be a full crew either. As long as someone who wants their money has access to it.
  2. TIME OUT! Have there been any updates on how the wounded are doing? All the TVs in the house are on football, and I can't get CNN.com to load
  3. It's actually been a pretty good game...I was figuring it would be embarrassingly lopsided, something tells me so did the Saints...
  4. I just wasted 3:47, and many brain cells, actually reading all of that....and all I can say is HUH??? WTF!
  5. What was the image? It suddenly no longer exists. I agree that people need to consider their words carefully. I am ALL for free speech, but I am even more in favor of RESPONSIBLE speech. Like it or not, in our cult of personality, all it takes is one utterance to encourage someone to do something like this. When a politician is targeted, anyone who goes into "how dare you?" mode if someone points out the obvious (that politics are involved) needs to calm down and not get their panties in a wad. This lack of respect and tolerance for differing opinions is ridiculous.
  6. wish I'd known this a week ago, I've coughed so much even my teeth hurt but, I'm sure I'll catch the next bug to come through, too, so glad to have the info
  7. Scientists can say all they want, but I know I am warmer with a hat on, and my neighbor's child bounces off the walls when she has more than a grain of sugar. And while we're at it, my face DOES break out when I eat chocolate...
  8. haven't gotten a Mayberry in quite a while...sure would be a nice Christmas present, especially since I don't think I'm going to get any of the stuff on my Christmas list
  9. Been fighting a slightly milder version of your symptoms on & off for a month now, kept telling myself it was a cold that needed to run its course. Finally caved and went to the doctor this week. Walked out with antibiotics, a round of Prednisone, and Tessalon Perls for the cough. Forgot what it was like to breathe normally & sleep through a whole night without waking up coughing. Could kick myself for not going sooner. Yesterday was the first day in forever I didn't come home from work & go straight back to bed. Hope you feel better fast, being sick at Christmas sucks
  10. how old is your house? and what is the date on your plot map? if it's an older house, your current system (tank & drain field) might not be the original. our tank is not even 6 feet from the house, but it's the original from when the house was built (it's even built out of the same brick as the house!) why in the heck did it cost over $500 to have your tank pumped? have never heard of it costing that much to just pump out a tank.
  11. definitely sounds septic tank related. We had the same problem a few weeks ago, got the tank pumped, stopped doing it for a few days, then came back. Turns out we needed a whole new drain field. There went our beautiful yard
  12. That's what my grandmother gave all us grandkids every year. A Christmas night tradition was to clean out the sock & underwear drawer & put in the new stuff. Suddenly one year she decided not to give us socks and underwear. We all looked at each other and said "where the hell is the underwear?" We had no idea what to do with ourselves Christmas night. I had no idea of even where to go to buy that stuff!
  13. YAAAYYY! I used to work with your fiance, you've got you a great one! Thanks for making him happy!!!
  14. From your keyboard to God's ears!!!!!!!! Can't wait to get to the Dome Saturday!
  15. Mom's boyfriend reads them first thing every morning. Says he wants to know if he's still living and if he still has to get up and put in a hard day's work. He's a good Irishman, who knows LOTS of people. He refers to the obit page as the "Irish Sports Page".
  16. I decided months ago what to get my mom, was just waiting for it to go on sale. Then, a couple of weeks ago she tells me she bought one of these particular things a while back & didn't like it so she gave it away. I am now officially clueless. Anything she wants, she buys. Just as clueless on what to get the rest of the family, too. As for myself, I am having NO trouble coming up with ideas of things to give myself
  17. NOOOOOOO!!!!!! As far as the Heisman, I'm guessing that after having to deal with the embarrassment of having to take back Reggie Bush's Heisman, they're going to look for someone who is squeaky clean. I doubt they want to go through that mess again... This kid is now going to think he can get away with anything...he'll screw up on his own eventually, and "it was Dad" won't work for him forever
  18. use both. one time forgot to put the butter in it. didn't work so well. believe it or not, no one in my immediate family likes this stuff, so when I make it, I don't have to share
  19. I don't care, I'm not a fairweather johnson. This will be my first Carolina game ever. I went to school there 20 or so years ago, never got to go to a game because I was always working the busy game nights.. and anyone is beatable on any given day...
  20. My brother is there, I'm sure he'll tell me all about it. Me, I'll be glued to the South Carolina - Clemson game. Next week, I get to see my Gamecocks in person at the Georgia Dome
  21. this was my first year working in retail (Macy's in Savannah), didn't really know what to expect. Worked 10a-4p, very uneventful, everyone was pleasant (except for the woman who was incensed we wouldn't sell an $89 polo shirt for $29 because that's the price Dillard's was charging). The place was packed, I gave up trying to keep all the merchandise straight, I feel like I folded the same sweater about 10 times Customers were nice, and I'm glad there were lots of them, but these people were messy I did get off in time to go to Old Navy and get some $5 pajama bottoms and $5 tank tops,
  22. leftovers...the best part of any holiday meal
