do you know someone who works for the school system? if so, get them to see if this person is listed in the school system's email...Cobb bus drivers have county email addresses, maybe Paulding bus drivers do as well...
-
do you then bring a couple of hours of work home at end of said 12 hour day, get blamed for all of society's ills, get told you are incompetent/uncaring/insensitive/lazy/not doing your job because you won't go work an hour early to tutor a student who needs said tutoring because he slept through class the previous day ? yeah, I've gotten ALL of that in the past week. that website could say I make 10 times what it says I make and it wouldn't be worth it. I wish my 10-12 hour days were "just like a lot of the rest of us". rant over. back to work.

The site lists the amount paid to ANYONE by any school system in the state - teachers, bus drivers, nurses, even the part time police who work security at athletic events..I'm guessing that's why? (not trying to be sarcastic, I promise - just figuring it's easier to ask for the site that "shows the teacher salaries") Same here...I wish I'd made as much as the site says I do

Plymouth, England, The area where we are moving to
cliograd replied to Nemie's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've made 3 long trips to England, and I've NEVER seen this much rain there, not even close! -
the weather channel site lets you see the radar in motion so you can see how it's been moving for the past couple of hours, as well as a "future" feature. It's not real detailed, but it's good enough for telling me if I have time to get somewhere and back before rain hits. What's so sad is the number of people I know who would say that exact same thing!

What on earth are you doing driving around in this mess? I'm getting serious cabin fever, but no way am I getting in my car anytime soon...people don't know how to drive when it's sunny, much less in wind & rain like this
-
I have always heard people who lived through tornadoes say that the wind would pick up and then it "sounded like a freight train was coming" right before the tornado hit. I live near the intersection of Bill Carruth & 278, I hear the trains down near the water department & Hiram High all the time, not too loud, but I definitely know what a train sounds like, and that's what it has been sounding like when the wind gets bad.
-
The wind keeps picking up here in Hiram, I keep thinking I'm hearing that "freight train" sound they say precedes a tornado, then it dies back down. SO glad I don't have any trees in my yard, the ones I see are swaying back & forth way too much for my liking

I don't know you guys, but I am already jealous enough of your moving to England, these pictures just make me more jealous and make me miss the place so much more. Still, I am happy for you! -
Well, I'd rather they be at the dump working than sitting on their rears at the jail watching cable TV. As far as do they concern me? Honestly, some of the students I deal with every day trouble me way more. And I've never been to the recycling center and not had both the trustee & county employee be very polite and helpful.

No lakes around Savannah, just the ocean. Plenty of rivers, creeks, and streams, though. Nothing better than to wake up and see the river going by Savannah's a nice town, can be pretty quiet - but schools? There's a reason there are so many private schools in Savannah. My mother is dying for me to move back to Savannah, but she said a long time ago that no way, no how, would she ever let me teach in the public school system there... Concerts? try Charleston. Savannah isn't known for its music scene

because, more often than not, p.com is way more up to date than any county website. same for many business websites.

does it really matter?

Common misconception. Actually, by definition, most of Africa is considered to be in the "tropics", which encompasses everything between the Tropic of Cancer (23 degrees N of the Equator) and the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees S of the Equator). Can you tell I used to teach Geography?

We have many students from Haiti who still have relatives there. We learned this afternoon that one student's mother died as a result of the quake. I'm afraid it won't be the last email we get with news like this. Earthquakes kill the poor in disproportionate numbers because their homes (and schools) are structurally unsafe and collapse as soon as the shaking starts. In Haiti, even the relatively better-off have been killed in large numbers because, quite frankly, building codes don't exist. The presidential palace has collapsed, as has the parliament building, the headquarters of the UN

This was the Area Duals, postponed from Saturday. It's the qualifier for the State Duals tournament starting Friday. The GHSA has to have the information on the participating teams tomorrow morning, if Area Duals weren't held today, areas that didn't hold them would have forfeited the opportunity to send teams to the state tournament. If it was just a regular event, my guess they would have been told to re-schedule.

I'm not holding my breath, but I will be checking first thing when I get up in the morning...

Olive Garden leftovers. They are even better than they were last night, since I don't have to drive home afterward

Went to Douglasville yesterday afternoon, no problems at all.

I'm right there, too, but I didn't hear a thing...
