  1. Well as a matter of fact, it does! Welcome...and to all the others who have not posted yet - no lurking allowed!
  2. saw that too....looks like it will be here just in time for rush hour
  3. Plenty of water, no problems with pressure here off Bill Carruth. Thank goodness...
  4. Crud, I had to take a sick day Monday since I couldn't get there b/c of all the roads being closed. Really don't want to do that again
  5. Yeah, it says teachers are supposed to come in "if a safe commute is possible". So, if the safe commute is not possible, are they docking us a day of leave?
  6. A Cobb PD friend said the dam is all but gone, and so is the water wheel ...but the road is still open...
  7. now the county website says 12 month employees & teachers should report "if a safe commute is possible"....dangit!
  8. sorry didn't have better news for you....I know one of those spots is closed indefinitely, just can't remember which one...
  9. common sense seems to have prevailed...
  10. Macland Road is closed at the Paulding County line, and the road at Macland & Florence is gone...
  11. Crossing my fingers & toes that common sense prevails this time...East Cobb seems to be in decent shape, West Cobb - not so much.
  12. Dang! Starting to wish I taught in Paulding instead of Cobb...
  13. Been wondering the same thing myself. I did see a Paulding County EMA vehicle going down 278 this afternoon...trying to take that as a good sign that they are already working on things
  14. I live up on a hill, too...still trying to figure out how the carpet padding & baseboard by my back door is wet
  15. that was one of the first areas closed this morning...haven't heard anything about it opening up
  16. never lost power, or internet.... have a day off tomorrow AND the season premiere of NCIS is tomorrow night
  17. These days, we don't understand why Cobb does alot of what they do. Thankfully, a lucid moment hit this afternoon & they canceled school for tomorrow.
  18. They must live on some really high ground. Of course, if it had been EAST Cobb having all the trouble this morning, school would have been called in a heartbeat. It took Pope High School flooding to get them to cancel school tomorrow.
  19. If you can't get there, you can't get there. Cobb is still closing roads as we speak. And like the previous poster said, Sweetwater Creek is going to get alot worse before it gets better. Supposed to be 8 feet above flood stage by morning.
  20. Enjoy the day off tomorrow, you have definitely earned it!
  21. I think I'll just stick to wine until the all clear is given....just to be on the safe side
  22. One would hope. The chief of Austell PD told Cobb campus police at midday that if they couldn't get the students dispersed by 4 pm, they weren't going to be able to get them out. Looks like he was right. Sweetwater Creek is supposed to be 8 feet above flood stage by morning....
  23. Macland Road at Powder Creek at the Cobb / Paulding line is closed indefinitely, per a friend who lives there. Seems to be some fear of the road collapsing, so they have to build a levy...no idea how long that is supposed to take. Powder Springs Rd at Hopkins is closed as well.
  24. Just heard over the Cobb scanner that 278 is still closed near Oglesby Rd.
  25. So, do you think the Cobb Superintendent might be rethinking that decision to keep the schools open this morning? A friend of mine has a kindergartener & first grader at Austell ES. As of 6:00 they were still stuck there. Haven't been able to get in touch with her to see if she ever got to them.
