Maybe what your post made me think of relates only minimally to your post, but for quite some time I have been fascinated with the fact that houses (or buildings) seem to "die" when there's no longer any human life inside. An old home that still has people living in it still has a kind of "life," even if it's decrepit. A home that no people live in anymore "dies." It's not just neglect, I don't think; it's like a house (or building) NEEDS life within its walls, or it "dies." It's a hard thing to convey in words. I've tried--I've even written a poem about it because the whole concept fa

I was a victim of abuse also, and the ONLY thing that kept me from the bitterness and the kind of life you describe above was the ability to FORGIVE and to understand that what happened to me had nothing to do with ME--it was the sickness of the abuser. Billions of dollars are worth less than an ounce of forgiveness. And tons of money can't do a thing for someone who can't get past the past. AND--forgiveness isn't a gift you offer the one being forgiven; it's a gift you give yourself.

The post says the dog is now at Animal Control. I would contact them in the morning to see if that's your missing baby. I hope for you it is. But in any case, it sounds like she's safe for the night. So don't let it make you crazy! If it's her, she's safe.

That's what I'm hearing, too. And those folks who had been celebrating in the streets all day are PI$$ED!

But can she write them all down?

It's really affordable when they offer you a discount to sign up. When that wears out AND they raise the rates...it's bad...most especially when there are so many channels with nothing on!

Sending prayers. You slacker!

This is bad. You'll have to brave the blizzard. Condolences.

It's "snowing" at my house, too! I live in Powder Springs, just feet from the Cobb/Paulding county line. It's big, heavy, WET snow that melts as soon as it hits the ground. A freeze tonight might make things slippery in the early morning, but folks, the ground is above freezing, and this wet heavy stuff is melting as it comes down and hits the ground.

Are you from around here? This is SNOW!! It requires 8 loaves of bread, 5 gallons of milk, and 3 cases of beer. And school closures.

I know, right? I am sooo irritated that our local PBS stations aren't carrying the latest NOVA show. I guess I'll have to watch it online if I want to see it. Someone tell me why I pay as much as I do for Uverse? 450 channels and nothing to watch.

The dog in the clip is an Aussie/Border Collie mix I think? But still a herding dog. They are crazy-smart. And so easily trained.

Well...that's not what I actually meant, but it was an accurate response! Snow comes in many different forms. Do you have flurries? Small flakes? A FREAKING BLIZZARD? That's what I meant. The ground is not frozen. If we get flurries or even small flakes coming down at a slow rate over many hours until morning, there will be no accumulation, and absolutely no reason for anyone to miss school tomorrow. Looking at the radar, we may get a TINY BIT of very light snow, but it looks like it will be beaten by rain/freezing rain. This isn't a "snow event." At most, we might just ne

Define "snow"?

Does ANYONE see ANY snow? Anywhere? Look at the radar.

Here's another clip. There's a program titled "How Smart Are Animals?" on NOVA scienceNOW at 8:00. Chaser and others are on. I'll be watching (or at least DVRing...AI is on at the same time). NOVA scienceNOW

I'm no Oprah fan, and I didn't see this episode, but that was EXCELLENT advice. Oprah was a victim of sexual abuse, too. I think she knows what she's talking about.

I was flipping channels late one night, when I heard a voice I recognized. It was a lost friend of mine--Judy. I hadn't seen her in several years. Judy's boyfriend dropped dead of a heart attack in her home while they were both working out. He was on the stationary bike, I believe. After John died, I knew she was depressed. I took her out for lunch and kept up with her, calling fairly regularly to talk and try to keep her from dwelling on things. Little by little, she pushed me away, breaking lunch dates and such at the last minute, etc., until finally she told me she was moving to NYC

Jimi's rendition was a tribute. CA's rendition was the "Star Mangled Banner." Jimi didn't forget the words. Oh, right? He DIDN'T SING the words. No comparison. No basis. NOT THE SAME. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_k-6FLfDkM Dude, she already admitted she butchered it. Why defend it? It was DREADFUL! -
