  1. Before I leave--I'm sorry, Sunshine. Maybe I was unfair to you. If I was, then I apologize. I have a pup that had surgery and was (and still is) competing for my attention, and I will readily admit, I just skimmed. That was my mistake, and if I was mistaken about what you were saying, then I own you an apology. May bad. Now, really, I'll be done with this thread. It would be good to agree. Reform doesn't start with paying premiums. Have a good night and enjoy your littles while they are little. Sunshine.
  2. Nah, not really. Too many zeros, keyboard klutz--what else ya got? Want to talk about, oh--MY POINT? Thanks. You get it, too. Now I think I'll excuse myself from this thread. There are rabid people about, and I'm not much interested in engaging their slobber.
  3. My, you sure do have some anger issues. Or maybe you're just jonesing to attack me. *MWAH* You don't worry me. And you aren't clever enough to insult me.
  4. I don't want to get deep into this conversation, because it's destined to go nowhere, with people of different political philosophies arguing this or that and this or that-- It goes nowhere, and quickly. I don't care to debate this with people who pull out partisan excuses or justifications for HCR. The play card is now at 50/50--and guess what? The two who voted FOR HCR were appointed by Democrats, and the two who voted AGAINST were appointed by Republicans. So, WHO is shocked by those stats? The FACT is--it's 50/50. And people who argue on either side that the other side is legi
  5. You have the most distasteful "us or them" mentality I have ever encountered. And it's disturbing at the very least. Anyone who doesn't agree with what YOU believe is "far right." It's not black or white all over the place, Sunshine. It's really not all dark if your take on the situation doesn't illuminate the people you'd consider ignorant. The sun really doesn't rise and set based on your opinion of current affairs. And not everyone who disagrees with you is out to wreck "democracy." But it's amusing to watch you argue that they are.
  6. It's gone! Oh, and I did find the "View New Content" link. I'm just missing my button.
  7. Pfffft. Whatever, Dude. Ours wasn't mounted over a fireplace, it was mounted on a wall with good air circulation on a bracket we paid extra for that was specifically designed for plasma TVs. It holds the TV far enough out from the wall to allow plenty of air circulation. But like I said--whatever. There's no reason to muddle a perfectly good thread by bickering with you about your opinions and assumptions as if they really mattered to me.
  8. Let me add one more piece of advice to the OP, since she is looking to buy a TV. See if you can talk with a few folks who repair big screen TVs. A BIG part of why I advise against buying plasmas is what I learned from the repairmen when my TV broke. The two I spoke with who came out to diagnose my TV along with a few others I called while still trying to find some way to repair it ALL told me that THEY personally would never buy plasmas. So maybe that's where I should have started--ask a few TV repairmen. See what advice they give you about brands and plasma vs. LCD vs. LED. Th
  9. Certainly. And a$$inine people can come on Internet message boards and say you somehow broke your TV because you were too stupid to read the owner's manual and take proper care of a rather large investment. That's called life.
  10. So nice of you to ASSume that I somehow "abused" my plasma and that somehow led to it malfunctioning. Yes, I read the owners manual. Yes, my Panasonic 46" flat screen plasma was well taken care of. It was wall-mounted and used like any other TV would be used--with exceptions--I don't play video games and rarely, very rarely used any auxiliary devices with the TV. It was used ONLY by myself and my husband, and we never did anything unusual with it, unless turning it off and on and changing channels could be considered wild and crazy TV behavior. We bought the TV at BrandsMart, and it die
  11. I went shopping at Dollar Tree just last weekend. My husband will be working in NC for the next 6-7 months or so, and I went there to buy stuff to stock his temporary kitchen--things like measuring cups and dish towels and sponges and plastic cooking utensils. The price was right for things that will be used for less than a year!
  12. I believe it's probably true that the plasma technology has advanced. They have learned from their mistakes. It wasn't that long ago that we bought ours. It was 2007 I think? And I think, even though the problems may be fewer, they are still cheaper to scrap than to repair. I agree though--the best suggestion is to do the research before making your purchase. After our first experience with an expensive plasma, I know that I personally will never buy another one. But others might without any problems whatsoever.
  13. I hope you'll read it then. They will be happy tears! I promise!
  14. This is pretty random, but some comments here in the last couple of days made me think about this birth story, and I wanted to post a link to it here, for folks who have never read it. It's from the blog of a young woman who lives in Naples, Florida. A year ago this month, she gave birth to a beautiful little girl with Down Syndrome. Be ready if you choose to click the link and read it...have some Kleenex handy! It's simply beautiful. Nella's Birth
  15. Oh, I agree then, completely! Dollar Tree is not the place to buy makeup, skin, or hair care items.
  16. The Dollar General sells brand name makeup and moisturizers. In fact, they sell quite a variety of brand name skin and hair care items for a few dollars less than you would pay at the CVS or Walgreen's. Also, for folks who buy generic anyway, over-the-counter drugs sold at Dollar General are exactly the same as generic OTC drugs in the drug stores, and again, at $$ off. What is "off brand food"?
  17. Recently, would be my guess. Unfortunately, they don't live very long. There's a reason they're more affordable than LCDs or LEDs. Really.
  18. DON'T BUY A PLASMA!!!!! If they break (and they ALWAYS do), it costs more to repair them than they're worth. LCDs are good, and the prices have really dropped lately. We looked at them recently at Sam's, and compared prices--Sam's beat HH Gregg, BrandsMart, and Best Buy. LEDs are REALLY NICE, but you pay more for the niceness. I hope this helps.
  19. Sorta like "picking nits" should be "nit picking"?
  20. "Tracphone" isn't paying for anything. They do it in hopes of MAKING money. And yes, it IS a tax. Read here. It is a federally mandated TAX payed by people who pay for their telecommunications services. You can put lipstick on it if you wish, but it is still a pig. I applaud the use by the elderly and infirm. I think it's worth the extra $$$ on my bill. But for people who abuse it? Aw, hell no. And let me be clear--I'm not saying you are one of them. But there are plenty who DO. Read the link I posted above.
