So if Paulding were interested in retaining the current residents (that are transplants) for the future ( which is necessary to keep the county solvent), it seems to me there has to be something that makes them feel connected in some way, other than their kids going to county schools or playing county sports. I dont have an answer. Anyone?

Interesting! We have made "some" connections here, our daughetr started in 4th grade at Allgood, went to HJMS, now a Jr at PCHS. So that has obviously created some connections. She played county softball, and that also make some connections. One year she played for Coach Gulledges team, so I am fond of Sheriff Gulledge and his wife and daughter. I work with Paulding residents in my day to day job. But strangely enough, most of them are transplants! I also wonder what the ratio is of transplants to natives in the county.

I will now go get a rag to clean the soda I just coughed all over the screen! LOLOLOL

I have been here 6 1/2 years, and I often wonder about other transplants. Do you feel that you are solidly entrenched in the county, you are just here for the time you need to be, and eventually you will move again ( it's just a stop along the way ), etc? Some of these things like Pcom, local politics, long time residents and Paulding founding families are what make me ask these questions....

IF anyone cares, there are many many different strains of HPV. When you vaccinate, you are vaccinating against a couple different types at best. No opinion here- just fact. -
Are our leaders preparing for large scale civil unrest?
wenfen replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Just a note of interest, we have some friends in rural NH who are quietly preparing for a bad time, whichever form it may take. Stashing cash, buying large amounts of liquor and cigarettes ( very very valuable if country goes to hell- can always sell or trade cigs and booze for necessities if cash is not worth anything. Canning food, slowly relying on their own land for eggs, meat, fruit, eventually milk probably. They have a good deal of ammunition and a couple of guns. They are building a safe room, etc. Contrast that with me, who has a first ait kit and flashlights in case of bad weather. I -

I dont have enough of my own facts to say one way or another. I am interested in this thread simply because of a couple of my family members. I have a cousin, 42 years old. Raised a strict pacifist liberal in Massachusetts, he excelled in school, went on to Tufts, married and began a family there. His degree was in Environmental Science and Biology. He had a great career with a company for about 10 years that worked alongside the Coast Guard in environmental disasters, i.e. going to oil spills, Katrina, etc. and his titlke was "environmental response preparedness coordinator". Fast forward to -
Anything that clinks, rattles, ticks, clicks, clanks or any sound like that, from objects in my car. MAKES ME CRAZY. For instance- aluminum soda can ( empty ) rattling in the cupholder against 3 or 4 quarters that underneath it- OMG. I Have been known to toss said object over my shoulder, into the back of the car, without even taking my eyes off of the road, just to stop the sound.

Ruh,Roh....time for popcorn- it just got VERY cold in here!

There are many MORE average, everyday individuals buying a great deal of ammo/firearms now. Concerns about safety ( home invasions), loss of gun ownership rights, etc, etc, as well as the threat of an economic collapse, and how that would play out, have people concerned and wanting to protect themselves.

Why Do Some People Think Women Should NOT Vote?
wenfen replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Nicely said I dont believe in the make more money=greater voting power. However, I believe that a test should be given to those wishing to vote. It should be on the basic principles and founding beliefs on this country. As well as some basic knowledge of candidates, platforms, and ideology. long way of saying people who dont care enough shouldnt be permitted to vote. -
I dont have any input on the OPs thought, but just a fact that in some Middle Eastern countries, such as Saudi Arabia, they do not have the same toilet needs as we do, in fact they dont like the Western toilet. In their country they have holes in the floor rather than toilets because they believe that the toilet is unclean, and not to be touched by them. They will actually stand and squat on a toilet seat if they have to use one. That is why there was the argument awhile back that they wanted their own cultures bathrooms built in American colleges, because they did not want ones with toilets i

My daughter, who will be a junior in the fall, expressed interest in doing the tour at the WG campus and talking to the MOWR coordinator at the college. After the trip she decided she was not ready to take such a life changing event at that time, but may consider it next year. Are you in touch with Kate ( the coordinator ) at WG? OOPs- I just realized you were not talking about her going to West Georgia- my apologies!!

Ideally ( which there is really no "ideal" here) I could get them to stop using it if she and I are around. We pretty much only hang out at the same table when we go out, there isnt a great deal invested there.

Oh N is definitely that smart (the ringleader),J is more of the the sidekick. She is fine out with us if N is not there. N and C have had a up/down history, and N tends to try to compete with her, and says other little cracks to her. She said one to me once and it was very well cushioned within the words of a song. The real concern is the workplace - all of them work together,so if I said to C I didnt want to hang out with them anymore, she would ask why. ALSO, because N was looking for someone that did the type of work I do, C had recommended me to her,so now she is my client as well. I dont

There are 4 of us in a pseudo-group ( 2 of us are buddies, and two of them are buddies) that go dancing on Fri nights, may attend parties the others have. Three of them work in a certain huge company in Marietta. I am the late comer, I have been working for C 5 days a week in her home for 3 years or so, and we ended up really good friends. She introduced me to N and J as we started to go dancing and they were there at the place ( many of that companys employees go there, I have learned). Anyway, without going into a great deal of background, C is very overweight, however extremely well dressed

The phlebotamist said they were sending her blood sample test OUT to Lab Corp, and we would have results in 1 week, ( but if they did it in house it would be quicker)so I assumed we would have results in a week which would have been this coming Monday. We were called yesterday with the negative result. So who knows...

No..last Thursday she began vomitting, that lasted a couple of hours. Then her throat was incredibly painful on one side as well,as well as a horrible earache. She started running a fever on Friday in the wee hours of the morning. The fever continued - we took her to the Dr. office Fri- they did a strep test that came back negative. We went throught the weekend with her having severe throat pain gland pain and ear pain. we tried Tylenol, Ibuprofen, no help. She was in tears most of the weekend. Monday we went back into the Dr. He at that point, listening to her symptoms and hearing her temp nev

Yeah- she is still totally lethargic, but we are out of ideas at this point. Test was negative, so we just have to assume it was a flu..
