Dr.s office called and spoke to my husband this AM- blood test is NEGATIVE for Mono- end of story, I guess. She will be going back to school tomorrow...I am still not comfortable with this, but maybe I am just being a worry wart.

Thank you for these replies...I am really amazed at the amount of exhaustion and weakness this causes, from all the stories and comments, and from seeing it firsthand with my daughter. At least she is eating again. She has lost weight and looks very pale, but due to the prednisone, has a great deal less throat pain/gland pain, and she is asking every couple of hours for something to eat. She doesnt eat large amounts, which is probably best, but is eating salad, smoothies, fresh fruit ,grilled cheese, etc. Tomorrow I am going to introduce more protein and keep her on her multivitamins. I dont se

..we are waiting on blood test results that confirm it ( sample sent out yesterday, results next week, they say) but our Dr. says he is fairly certain its mono. I am reading up on mono now, obviously. I am feeling really concerned in regards to 1) this is a REALLY bad time to be out of school, she missed all of Thurs, 1/2 of Friday, yesterday, and today- and Dr. wants me to call him tomorrow( Wednesday) to let him know how she is doing, and he will decide whether to give the "ok" to go back- I am sick over this. Her grades are great the lowest she has is a "B" in one class. She is not worried- s

Sitting at club table last night- I heard the story from another woman. This woman was in the bathroom, and there were two younger women there- discussing a song- they couldnt understand why someone would sing about a "Brickhouse" - what was a Brickhouse??? LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

And one of them is Mr. Chocolate Mooose?!!

Well I am stubborn, and I have heard so much about the book and even if I dont care for a book, I couldnt see spending the money and NOT really trying to read it all. I am not saying the first /middle sections were awful- they were as steamy as you would expect, so that wasnt the problem. But I couldnt deal with the agreement to the contract by her, so I jumped to the end to see what happened, how it ended. She finally got to her breaking point with the situation,so I flipped back a chapter to at least see if I could skim through it. To be honest, I wish I hadnt. Thats all. But I am not saying

We decided to go up to Coots Lake /Silver Comet trail area up there for the first time. Beach isnt open until Memorial Day,but we enjoyed walking a couple miles on the trail- beautiful day for it. My daughter nearly stepped on a baby rattlesnake on the trail- her shriek nearly gave me a heart attack! Anyway, back in the car we went- had to find this place called " Pizza Farm" ( which we did ) but it was too early to eat there, so we left, and drove that absolutely stunning area of Braswell Mountain Road that has that " Hills Creek at Thousand Acre Farm". Gorgeous views. Decided we were so close

In pretty much direct opposite from everyone else..I found it too violent, frightening, and it upset me that a human being could abuse another being even if that being acquiesed. I didnt think the first parts were anything special, pretty much run of the grade scenes that you can read in a majority of that genre. But the beatings? I cant even begin to describe the fright I felt. I finished it last night at 2 am, and could not fall asleep till 4 am because of fear of having dreams of it. Bummer read. :nea:

6-year-old handcuffed after tantrum in kindergarten class
wenfen replied to Blondiega1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Among the MANY other situations/conditions that may affect children resulting in this behavior- Google " Fetal Alcohol Syndrome ". The damage is done in-utero. Not an excuse for this behavior, just an eye opener. The mother may have dried out, but the child is forever affected. My take? If my child had acted like this - I would want her in zip-cuffs, yes. -
No, my mother and father were both born and bred New Englanders ( born and raised near Boston, Mass). I can remember her mixing plain yogurt, honey, and sunflower seeds(unsalted) together to make a treat for me. I was not allowed to eat junk food, or drink any sugary drinks, or eat white bread growing up. The flip side of that is that now I crave all that, to my detriment. As soon as I moved out of the house, I went crazy with junk food, and devloped some bad habits with food that chase me still...

I would also say that " Mother Earth News " is pretty activist.

I read the "Examiner" article. The beginning of the article mentions that the petition is put out by "Credo Action" which is easy enoght to look up. Then the agenda shows up on that site, as well as the word "activist" or "activism". Look up of the top of that site, and you see that " Credo Action" is published by " Working Assets". Easy enough to look that up. Even though GMO's may be a concern to me, I do not want to link myself with.. ( trying NOT to say "liberal left"... all that would do is make this thread go into in the political forum) the "activist" crowd. Because that entails agreein

BL...I know you are trying to bring topics up that are important to you, and you feel that may educate some people, or open up a discussion. I tend to see that you bring quite a few threads up on the board every so often, and then you may not post again for a short period of time. There are people here that already support you and agree with your philosophies and choices of how to live. I am against farm animal cruelty, inhumane treatment of animals, and other animal related issues. I did read " Seeds of Deception" about 10 years ago. If you dont know of it, it is the whole background story on

Check THIS cake OUT! THE BEST! My husband LOVED IT! Not only that, but I went in there Friday and they had it ready for me Saturday at 2 pm! I told them that my husband was going to a cover band concert for the Dead on Sat night, so they could just freestyle it- and they went above and beyond! Does that cake not make you smile?? I will definitely be back for my daughters 16th !!! Coming soon!

Great so far! I agree with many I always measure how much I like a song by how much I boogie or bop at the sink while doing dishes! " Superstition " by Stevie Wonder, gets me dancing in the kitchen! Or " Brown-Eyed Girl " by Van Morrison is one I cant stay still to. "Oyo Coma Va" by Santana is another. Red Hot Chili Peppers have a couple I love.

Went dancing last night, and I couldnt believe they actually played an old goofy top 10 song from the early eighties that I LOVED ( I was 14-16 years old back then!)got me thinking today, about some of my all time dance favorites.....
