  1. I dont know if its "kosher" or not, but behind the 278 Movie Theater and that cement company, (Metromont Road) there is quite a bit of raw land that people are always riding on. I have seen pickups parked in there quite often! Its wide open, no subdivisions around, and very little traffic.
  2. A person is incorrect when they use the phrase "could of" or " couldn't of ". As in " You could OF come with us, but you didn't". The correct phrase is "could HAVE", or "couldn't HAVE". As in " You could HAVE come with us, but you didn't." My daughter does it ( college bound, 22 ACT score, 1530 SAT score, with no studying beforehand) and I see it all the time on here and on Facebook... My daughter is a Junior now, so she obviously WILL be studying for her next ACT and SAT, we just wanted a starting score...
  3. My hubby and I were in bed last night, watching TV, and heard several ( 7-10 ) loud dynamite type sounds in a row. Live off of Hiram-Sudie. But that was around 10:30 pm
  4. What type of dog? Size? Length of fur? Is there a great deal of undercoat,and/or matting? How is he with being handled?
  5. Thanks to both of you! I didn't linger before, not thinking I would have replies. Popped back on, and read. I will take all of this in, and have her read it too. The process begins!
  6. We are beginning the process of looking at schools, and my daughter really has interest in Armstrong University in Savannah. I didnt know if any folks out there might have some input about the school for us ( obviously we will be going and doing the tour at some point)..TIA!
  7. I dont think you are doing anything wrong..I think people have days absoluteley filled with the business of living. Maybe no money for a few hours away from kids, holding off on using gasoline, etc. I also think that peoples schedules are tied to kids schedules, and sports, clubs, etc take up everyones time, money and energy.. I drive all day long for my work, so to get me BACK into a car when my day is done, chances are slim!
  8. My husbands sister ( Kathy ) and her husband ( Steve ) have had two children with severe autism. Hampton was born in 1994, so he is 19 now. Bailey was born in 2002 and drowned in a retention pond in front of their Florida home, one very horrible night. When I watched Hampton, at a family gathering at two years old, in 1996, I was pretty sure I saw autism, because I had just studied it in class, and he was presenting very much the textbook list of behaviors. You would have thought he was totally deaf, he was non responsive, no eye contact with anyone whatsoever. There was no, absolutely no, con
  9. Follwing updates, be they good or not... Prayers continue from here...
  10. I visited them once, about 3 months ago, bringing two little birds that were hopelessly attatched to a glue pad ( a device to catch bugs ) from my clients garage. My client was home and absolutely beside herself seeing this, and she called me to see if I could help. She lives on Bobo Road, so I knew I was going to be going to New Hope with the poor little souls, to free them from their suffering as quickly as I could. ( I will be honest, I was teary eyed as they sat quietly, looking around, from the viewpoint of my car passenger seat floor. I brought them in, and they took them right from me a
  11. if you feel you can get liquid oral medication into this kitty , you can purchase something at Petsmart the medication name is Kaolin Pectin at Petsmart I think the box says just Diarrhea medication , I think it is in the dog section but it is ok for cats as well.
  12. I get all teary eyed just hearing the love and respect you continue to give them..I will remember all of you fondly..
  13. I am sooo happy for you- I will never forget Hammah and Mah! Thank you for your sweet words, and welcoming me in when my business was just beginning! Have a wonderful new life, as you and your hubby deserve all the best! Thank you BOTH for your sacrifice to our country! Pcom at it's best- a group of loving, caring people who take care of each other!! :clapping:
  14. ..when you look back on your life at that time, was it much different? And I dont mean because of Pcom, but just life changes, happenings, etc....I will come at this from my perspective. My join date was March of 2006. My life was undergoing a MASSIVE change. I sat at the desk in our home office in Vermont, and said the name of the county we were moving to, in Georgia ~ "Paulding County" ~ to myself, as I typed it in a search engine. I reallyreallyreallyreally didnt want to move to Georgia. It was because my husband had found a job opportunity in Atlanta, and then sprung it on me as we lay in
  15. We have a huge family history in Massachusetts, going back a couple hundred years in some cases. Both my parents were born and raised just outside of Boston, and my father kept his accent his entire life, even though he was in his late 40's when they moved to just outside Philadelphia. All my ( 3 brothers and 3 sisters ) 6 siblings were born in Mass, I was the only one born in Philly.. My mothers sister passed away last month, and next month we are attending her memorial service in Danvers.... As far as where I would want to move..I cant make up my mind. I think maybe the coast of S. Car
  16. I am sorry, I didnt make the description of her "crying" clear enough. When I say crying, you dont know my daughter. She is NOTHING near a softie. For her, crying is having to blink a couple of times. Her tears DONT EVER fall. She finds crying to be a sign of weakness, and this is why it bothers her. When she finally told her father and I, she was " blinking back tears" and standing rigidly, you have to hug her from BEHIND, because she doesnt want to be comforted with hugs. She WANTED to hit him, she knew not to. She is college bound- ACT scores of 22 already, she is planning to retake, she is
  17. Sounds accurate! Except I believe in LPPT, and I know after a break, she'll return. I think we are all affected by it to a certain degree ( My opinion only, not stated as a fact)...I just feel badly that the acrimony has flourished, and the baiting is rampant.....
  18. I wanted some feedback on a situation going on concerning my daughter. I figured maybe I would toss it to Pcom and get some thoughts on it from people. I am holding back just because the tone here is turning( not ALL responses, but more and more as time goes by) ...aggressively unhelpful, shall we say, at this point. I dont really want to throw myself to the wolves. Everyone is in armed camps, ready to jump up at the first thing they see they dont agree with. I think there is quite a bit of baiting of certain opposite philosophies going on in threads. A great deal of nastiness and cattiness.
  19. where does he live in Vermont ? I have lived in Rhode Island( 6 years), New Hampshire (6 years), Vermont ( 6 years), and traveled Maine quite a bit including Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on my honeymoon . I have also travelled in Connecticut ,mostly the Seacoast and the casinos ,and have tons of family in Massachusetts I have spent a lot of time there, both my parents were born and raised right outside of Boston Mass so there's still lots of connections there ....
  20. We have family connections to Watertown going way back as well, and in fact, looking at the family ancestry book right now it states that one of my ancestors, name of John Stone , year was 1665/66, the date was Feb 20th, sold some land, about 9 acres, to a Josiah Jones. This land , it reads , "was near Mrs. Phillps farm ". The Stone family, who are my ancestors owned 11 acres of land in Cambridge in the Newton or the Brighton area . I do know some of the land ended up being bought by Harvard University .
  21. Is anyone else here from New England besides me ?
  22. IMO there is nothing wrong with getting information from multiple sources, and educating and informing yourself. Why put down someone/people who have spent a great deal of time and effort to better their knowledge to help others- maybe it would save someones life or property someday?
