Most power companies have money set aside in their budgets to help people with their power bills. It isn't advertised, but they can pay your bill in full if the right person is contacted. Usually, an employee of the power company can request help for someone they know of (either personally or through working collection routes) that is in dyer need of help. Keep in mind it is much easier to work out a "special" payment plan with the power company "before" your service is disconnected for nonpayment. Also, Pubby is correct, it sounds like you would be a candidate for the prepay progra

With the job market being what it is today, I think I would of taken the shot...unless you are allergic to eggs, it ain't gonna hurt you anyway.

Maybe you could talk to your mom about the things that are causing the problems. I'm sure she isn't trying to be a burden, maybe she doesn't realize that the things she is doing is causing a riff between you and your husband. I'm sure anything you say may hurt her feelings some, but imagine how she will feel if your husband finally "blows up" and tells her what he thinks!! I guess I am lucky, my MIL has been at our house for about 3 weeks and I hardly know she is there. It makes my wife happy for her to be here, so that is what really matters.

The only way I would do a prepay plan is if they offer me a discount, no way I would pay them extra for that service. The plus side to prepay is for people that are on collections a lot or have bad credit. Instead of giving Greystone extra deposit money, that money would go straight to your account.
