  1. My brother was just too rebellious. He is 22 now and I can't even stand to be in the same room with him. He was raised mostly in daycare, which I think has allot to do with it. But, I remember him in preschool telling kids to F off .. and my mom doing the hot sauce thing. He got kicked out of daycares, then schools .. yeah not a good kid at all. I, on the other hand have 3 teenagers 19, 16, 13 .. none of them have EVER sworn in my presence. That's how we've approached it with our kids. They get one " freebie " to ask what it means or to give us a chance to explain it t
  2. Same here .. all of our kids have TV's in their rooms .. yet they can only watch DVD's or VHS movies. During the day my kids are too busy to watch TV. The only time they watch it is at night before bedtime.
  3. Very true. I learned this many years ago. Positive reinforcement is a must.
  4. I can tell you now that hot sauce is not going to work. I have never had that issue with my kids, spankings or the threat of them covered pretty much everything. However, my mom used to put hot sauce on my brother's tongue when he was small. He only got worse. It didn't harm him .. but it didn't work either.
  5. My oldest son was a NIGHTMARE until the age of 5. I spanked him, time out .. you name it. I always felt like none of it was getting through to him. I stayed consistent. I just kept at it .. and out of the blue at the age of 5ish .. he just changed over night. It was like the light bulb had finally come on. Anyway, he is now almost 19 and he is STILL my angel, my boy scout. He has thanked me countless times for raising him ( and spanking him ) .. he says if I hadn't he would of turned out MUCH differently. Stick to your guns .. be consistent .. he'll be fine.
  6. The fire department is also a good place to look. Or a job as a security guard. Any security type job, would love to have him. My ex husband was / is a Marine. We found when he got out that security type jobs .. were the way to go. He went that route until he found something better. I would suggest doing the same, since times are tough right now.
  7. It is hard. But, when I shop, I search for the brand that was made in America. I find they last longer and don't leak I told my mom about the leaking thing. Like with children's sippy cups and coffee mugs. She thought I was crazy ( ok I won't argue that one ) .. but she tried, sure enough. It might cost me a few extra dollars but at least I only have to buy it once.
  8. Honestly, can't wait to get out of here.
  9. I know that wasn't your intention. It's just that some people decided to use the thread as such. I hope she has a speedy recovery. I agree
  10. I hope you're back to your old self again soon. I know how it feels .. needing more arms.
  11. I have heel spurs and arch issues as well. I will do absolutely everything possible to avoid surgery. Too many horror stories for me. I would also suggest a second opinion. Just in case there are other options.
  12. Yup, last weekend 2 of my kids ended up sick. One lasted 2 days the other only about 24 hours. My mom also got a stomach virus last week. Guess it's going around.
  13. We had connection issues with them for over 6 weeks. We had a guy out to the house twice .. they couldn't find anything wrong. Never fixed anything .. all of a sudden one day, it just all worked fine again. I'm not sure what's going on with them .. but it's very frustrating indeed.
  14. We had them when we first moved into our house 7 years ago. We sprinkled some stuff we got at home depot around and we haven't seen them since. I wouldn't panic .. just get some stuff and take care of it.
  15. It's usually SUV's that I see parked .. it's not only sports cars Funny how people hide behind their camera and the internet. Nobody ever dares walk up to them and say anything. Cowardly IMO .. but whatever .. it's not my problem.
  16. I just wanted to add that the one thing that helped me was working on the " inside " instead of the outside. Growing up, I watched my mother put on makeup before she would even go out to check the mail. She dyed her hair ... never ate. BTW she is still this way today. She had emergency surgery last fall. Before and after all she wanted was her makeup bag I have had 6 kids. I have worked out religiously all of my life. After baby number 4, I was down to 98 pounds. So weight was never my issue. I was always told I had a nice body .. ect. But, it was never enough. I was always living for
  17. I'm the same way .. after the recalls .. we started making our own peanut butter. It's yummier and safer
  18. Yup, sure am I wasn't when I was younger. I remember putting on makeup before my husband woke up in the mornings. Now, I don't even wear it. I have found that I have become more beautiful and more happy as I age. Can't wait til my 40's
  19. I still do eat the cookie dough ... I make mine without eggs so it's " safe " not that .. that stopped me when I was younger. The pecan pie sounds yummy .. stop it already I'm gonna have to run to the store. Yummy, love me some olives right out of the can
  20. That's how I am .. I am SO busy throughout the day .. and with having low blood sugar. Lucky for me, most of the things I eat don't need to be cooked.
  21. Back in my " carnivore " days .. I used to eat hot dogs right out of the package Today, I eat Asparagus right out of the can Cold pizza and warm beer in my teen years. Today .. mostly eating veggies in fruit .. it's all cold
  22. Agreed ... that's why most of the time I don't bother voting. Nothing to vote for
  23. I have a small porcelain squirrel I bought at a flea market when I was 19 years old. It's almost been 20 years, and he sits on my desk where I can see him everyday. I don't know why but it draws me in .. strange I know. But, he is VERY old .. he was old when I bought him for .50 cents .. 20 years ago. I can't count how many times I have moved .. it amazes me that he's still around.
  24. My home .. it keeps a roof over our heads and shelters those that I love.
