  1. Is it on a state road? If so, you will probably have grandchildren before a light is installed. I have no idea what criteria the GDOT uses to decide to put a light up. There were numerous accidents and at least one fatality in front of our subdivision off Hwy 92 and it took about 15 years to FINALLY get a traffic signal installed. I know when I spoke to the GDOT rep for this region to complain about the lack of a light, I was told that "studies have shown that a traffic light usually INCREASES traffic accidents." Yeah....uh huh.
  2. I know! I've got some sorghum syrup in my pantry and I have been resisting the urge to make biscuits ever since I opened this thread!!!!
  3. Yup...definitely an acquired taste. I know some people use it on pancakes. When we were small, if we ran out of Log Cabin or Aunt Jemima pancake syrup, we used sorghum as a substitute. I hated it on pancakes....but on a fresh, hot biscuit it was pure heaven!
  4. It's a unique tasting syrup....completely different from anything you've ever tasted! It tastes like a combination of sweet and bitter, with a little hint of molasses taste. It's excellent on a batch of hot homemade biscuits. Usually in the fall the mountain communities (Blue Ridge, Ellijay) will have a Sorghum Festival where you can watch it being made, sample some, buy some.
  5. I'm making the "extreme sacrifice" ( ) to forego McRibs so there will be more for y'all. Merry Christmas!
  6. I bought some back during the summer from The Trading Post Restaurant in Villa Rica.

  8. A lot of the ones previously mentioned, with one to add: "The Homecoming" the movie that begat "The Waltons".
  9. Interesting..... Years ago, (before there were PCs in every house, Google, FB, etc) a former coworker would visit a psychic whenever she felt the need. She was rather frivolous with her money and we all just shook our heads and thought what a waste of money, but it's her money to waste and none of our business. One day she was discussing her latest visit with the psychic. Our bookkeeper listened to her, then told her she thought it was all just a big farce. JB told her when she first started going, that was what she thought as well, but the first session made her a believer; she the
  10. Sheriff Andy, if I had the power I'd give you a Mayberry for that post!
  11. I'm doing Weight Watchers. The program works....my head wasn't totally into the game in the past, but I made a total recommitment to it on 8/31. I *finally* realized that the only time I have been successful on the plan is by keeping a food journal, trying to keep track in my head, phone app, etc. just didn't do it for me. so...every single day, I WRITE DOWN what I eat...the good, the bad, the ugly. I have lost weight every single week I began doing this. Something a bout seeing it on paper, I guess. Second.....water, water, water. I drink at least 64 oz of water each day. Th

  14. They heard you were giving out Tootsie Roll Pops.....they want snickers bars!!!
  15. I just don't understand the people that think they have to have enough candy for EVERY SINGLE TRICK OR TREATER that comes to the door. One lady I worked with was complaining last year that she spent close to $200 on candy last year, ran out at 8pm and had to send her husband out to buy more! When I was growing up, we turned the light out when we ran out.
  16. I went around 2 or so. Had a half hour wait....not too bad. Note to any seniors 75 or older: If you are 75 years old or older, you can go to the head of the line. Just let the poll workers know and they will see that you get taken care of.
  17. The original version of The Amityville Horror. The Good Son. For pure camp: The Bad Seed (the original B/W version with Patty McCormack)
  18. I've got a Gateway netbook I bought from Brandsmart a couple years ago for $275. Love it. 250GB Hard drive and I've had no problems with it. Another difference between netbook vs laptop is the netbook has no CD/DVD drive. You can buy an external one to connect to it if you find the need. HOWEVER....I also have an iPad2. I find I use it MORE than I use my netbook. An iPad2 (16GB wifi only) sells for $399 if you can find stores that still have them in stock. (The newer iPad sells for $499). Microcenter has a limited quantity of iPad2 in stock (new in box) and they are selling them
