  1. Broiled chicken with rice, along with broiled mixed veggies. (squash, zucchini, onions and red peppers drizzled with a little bit of EVOO, a couple tablespoons of cornmeal, sprinkled with salt and pepper.)
  2. Aw...too bad. (I didn't see this before I had already posted the additional concert in July.)
  3. How about a fun outing....like lunch at Hooters? Maybe call ahead and tell them you're bringing him in for a birthday lunch and ask the mgr if the waitresses can just make a fuss over him, gather round and sing Happy Birthday, etc?
  4. If you want to do any early birthday present on short notice, Larry Gatlin is playing the Cobb Civic Center tomorrow night. Check this one out, too. He'll be performing with his brothers in Hiawasee at the Geogia Mountain Fair in late July! Two shows! In the past when I've gone, a lot of the performers will do a meet and greet after the show. 2012 Georgia Mountain Fair Info
  5. Exactly. Personally, I prefer Jesse Barnes' works. (same idea as Kinkade, but a little more subdued). Why? I dunno...maybe because I'm reminded of stories that my parents and grandparents told about their lives as children: going to the old country church in the mountains, trips to the old general store, growing up in a small shack. Simpler times and simpler lives. Kinkade just "prettied it up." I also like Charles Wysocki for the same reasons. Although others might not consider any of it art, I do. It gives me warm and happy memories of family and feelings of peace.
  6. WTH??? What was this girl thinking? How come she wasn't doing tats, as well?
  7. I'm so sorry about your son. Here's some ideas where you might find what you are looking for at a reasonable price: Goodwill Donation Centers If you live in or near Cobb, check out the antique shops up on the square in Marietta. There is also a flea market on Cobb Pkwy where it intersects with Hwy 92. I haven't been there in several years, but it might be worth checking into. Also, keep on the lookout for Doll Shows at the Civic Center in Marietta. They usually have one every few months there. I hope you find what you are looking for. Condolences to you and you
  8. Are you sure that it's a Kincaid and not a Jesse Barnes? (See Link below) Love Is Forever by Jesse Barnes The reason I ask is that I have several prints by Barnes. I saw this one (Love is Forever) and have always loved it. Although both their styles are similar, I've always preferred Jesse Barnes' work.
  9. Smoked diced chicken breast mixed with diced peppers, onions, craisens, chopped pecans and honey mustard dressing.
  10. If you live in a nice neighborhood and have to enter and exit your subdivision and pass by the mess everyday, then yes...it would bug me enough to make repetitive phone calls. Why? Because it just....looks....TRASHY!!!!
  11. My grandparents lived 2 hrs away. Growing up, our Christmas morning routine was getting up, spending a half hour or so seeing what Santa brought, followed by breakfast, then getting dressed to leave for the grandparents' house and having to leave our new toys from Santa behind. (this was in the late 60's and early 70's. No way to pack bicycles, or a play kitchen, etc in a Chevrolet impala along with 2 adults and 3 children. I was so glad when my parents reverted to the routine that you've established! It was a great compromise. My grandparents understood and actually liked it better
  12. So, let me see if I got this straight. Your child is playing outside and your neighbor's child is playing across the street. A strange car pulls up and some one gets out, grab's your neighbor's child, tosses him/her in the car and speeds off. Your child is apparently the only witness to what happened. When the parents realize the child is missing, they search the neighborhood, then call the cops, who start asking neighbors if anyone saw anything. At that point, your child tells you what they saw. They can describe the car and can describe what the alleged abductor looked like.
  13. The only one I know of is I-85 North....north of Commerce.
  14. I'd like to know if he actually said in those talks in years past that painting the street in front of the school is acceptable.
  15. I keep reading in all of these threads that it was an unpunished tradition that just got out of hand. To all of the people that are saying this: do you actually own a home on East Paulding Drive or in one of the subdivisions off of East Paulding? Do you really think that the homeowners that live in that area appreciate having to look at that "artwork" all the time, year after year? Do you really think that homeowners have never complained about it? Maybe it has gone unpunished for so long is because up until now, no one had actually been caught.
  16. True confession time. we did a Carnival cruise a couple of years ago because the price was just too good to pass up. WOW......WOW.....and um WTH? You know how they make the family pictures on formal night and put the proofs in the lobby for passengers to buy? I got up early the next day to take pictures of some of those proofs because they were just too funny.
  17. We did this many moons ago. Flew into San Diego, rental car got screwed up and instead of a midsize sedan. we got a Geo Metro....we werent too happy until we saw it and discovered it was a convertible that got 50 mpg! We hit PCH and headed north.....absolutely beautiful! At one point, we pulled into this small fishing hamlet to get some lunch. There was a guy sitting on the pier steaming lobsters. We bought two and headed further up to find a picnic area. We wound pulling off onto a scenic overlook and while we were there, we could see whales off in the distance migrating. We drove into
  18. I just like the idea of having "something" to mark the occasion and maybe become a future heirloom to pass on to children. Gift cards are nice, but it's not something you can look at 25 years from now and remember the occasion....but that's just me. Other suggestions: A Bible with a bookplate engraved with her name and graduation date. A nice business portfolio/attaché case to carry her papers in If you went with the charm idea, you'd have future gift options for additional "milestone" occasions: birthday, marriage, first home, births of children, etc. Now...thinking outside o
  19. I know you said she's not a jewelry person, BUT that's now...whose to say she might change her mind in a few years? two suggestions: 1. A simple strand of pearls. They go with anything. 2. www.picturesongold.com. Email them one of her cap and gown pictures and have them laser the pic into a locket.
  20. Paulding schools have been in the news a lot the last couple of weeks. If this principal is refusing to talk to you to get the situation resolved, I think I'd leave word with him that he could either talk to you or he could deal with the press because that's who you will be talking to AFTER you've talked to the sheriff.
  21. In doing some poking around on the Internet, I found that Marietta first Baptist owns some property on lake allatoona. On their website, they refer to it as Chapel Knoll and it is in Canton. I tried to find pics, but didn't find any..perhaps that is the place though. On their website, it states that they will be having Sunrise services there.
  22. Nope....I know RaceTrac only did their free refill thing during the summer of 2010. In 2011, (as you can see I'm a RT regular) they did a .49 cent promo, but that didn't stop some people from walking out with free soft drinks. A couple months ago, I saw a grown woman walk into McD's with a 44 oz ChickFilA cup, fill it up with coke and walk right back out to her minivan.
  23. Boo! Boo got shot! With a long gun. A big ole long gun!
