  1. Donations had dwindled down during the recession but began picking back up. This year, I picked up the most amount of food I have ever picked up, two or three times as much as the last few years. Food was placed in mailboxes, hanging from mailboxes and next to the post. Bags on the ground are easy to overlook (when driving box to box while looking out for kids and passing motorists and also handling the mail) so I hope that I didn't miss any. Enough food had already been donated during the week to fill up an APC container at the PO. We always end up with more food on the following Monday a
  2. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Warren+Farm+Rd,+Powder+Springs Near Grace Baptist Church. Rosedale Dr changes into Warren Farm Rd at the Powder Springs city line.
  3. I hadn't heard anything about this but I'm guessing it's in regards to the neighborhoods on Warren Farm Rd that originally had Powder Springs addresses when they were developed several years ago.
  4. Bag non-perishable food items and place in or at your mailbox before your mail carrier comes on Saturday. Donate items like canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice. Please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers. I believe the postcards and/or Publix shopping bags will be delivered in mailboxes this week.
  5. This reminded me that I have a loaf of bread on my kitchen counter that looks like I just brought it home from the store, even though it has been sitting there for six months. The "best if used by" date on this unopened bag of Nature's Own Honey Wheat is Dec 9. When December 9th passed before I had even opened the bag and I decided not to eat it, I was curious how long it would be before mold appeared. Six months later, I'm still waiting. I'm wondering if the bread is preserved by preservatives in the bread or if the air inside the bag is nitrogen. Now that the loaf has lasted six months,
  6. There are repair shops that try to milk as much money out of you as possible with fictitious problems and unnecessary add-ons, but then there are a few repair shops that do good honest work. Subby's Mower Repair is in the latter category. Whenever Subby and his helpers do repair work on my outdoor equipment, I always feel that I am getting better service than I'm paying for. It's nice to have the option to drop-off equipment at his place or schedule a time for him to come to my house for either pickup or mobile service. I also appreciate the free preventive maintenance advice that Subby gi
  7. Interesting. Is this actually through eBay or is it actually just a clever eBay Trading Assistant giving the appearance of representing eBay?
  8. I've been looking into electric cars and am flabbergasted that Fiat's tagline for the 2013 Fiat 500e is "Ugliness is the Worst Form of Pollution". This was actually a snide remark by Olivier François, Chief Marketing Officer of Chrysler and marketing guru for Fiat, about the Nissan Leaf. 2013 Fiat 500e Nissan Leaf

  10. If a hard bump caused the engine to cut off and now it won't start, sounds to me like something might have been jarred loose (but I am not a mechanic.) Since you've already replaced the starter, check the alternator to make sure it's connected properly. I had a Jeep Cherokee that got hit at low speed on the side at the rear axle and the engine wouldn't crank until the fuel pump was replaced. When the key is turned to start the engine but it just clicks or nothing happens, I think it's electrical (battery, alternator, starter, security switch.) If the engine will turn but won't crank, I thi
  11. The amount and type of information that is gathered about us is creepy and pubby makes some good points. On the other hand, I would rather see targeted ads for things that I'm interested in than ads for things that I have zero interest in. It's nice to receive coupons from Kroger for the things that I've bought.
  12. The laptop that I bought in 2006 started freezing and locking up this year. I was tempted to buy a new one, but ended up having someone with the know-how & patience format the hard drive and re-install Windows along with all the needed drivers. It runs like new again.
  13. April Fool's jokes are normally done on April 1
  14. Some of my favorite movies are: O Brother, Where Art Thou? The Shawshank Redemption V for Vendetta Ip Man (1-2) Transporter (1-3) Crank (1-2) Drive
  15. Dang. I guess there needs to be another P'com function so you can get out, huh? Since I recycle nearly everything, I take the trash out about every three or four weeks. I think PWR should give me a discount. As for getting out, I have dinner with a friend once a week and will go play bar poker if I feel like getting out of the house.
  16. I don't watch much TV but most of the shows that I get into seem to get cancelled after a few episodes. The only series that I purchased several years ago is Over There. To broaden the question, I have rented a couple of series from Netflix. Wonderfalls Knight Rider: Season 1 (80s series)
  17. You don't have to be glamorous, just look at those bearded duck call guys or those guys that did stupid stunts or those guys that do stupid pranks to each other. They really lower the bar for a TV show. However, if you look pretty, you can talk about chicken of the sea and have a TV show for a little while.
  18. Hmm, I think she said even kids can use it...
  19. I'm curious to know what you are talking about. Can you look for a photo on Google?
  20. I didn't take it as speculation. TP asked what the Mr. did to cause the Mrs. to kill him and then shared his story. I could be wrong but I don't think he was attempting to speculate that infidelity was the cause, he was just looking for responses as to why a spouse would kill the other. Perhaps the thread is harder to follow after the title was changed, but this thread is in response to yesterday's headline Woman, 59, charged with husbands murder. Also in the news yesterday was the man who killed his girlfriend in their front yard. I don't see any reason for the personal attacks aga
  21. How is the debris just now being unearthed 11.5 years later?
  22. I paid about $90 for Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 about 10 years ago. I use it mostly for minor photo touch-ups. If that's all you intend to do, IrfanView is freeware and should do the job well. I use the batch processing feature to edit many photos at once. You should be able to connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable and then access the photos in Windows Explorer.
  23. I've been sleeping on a TemperPedic mattress and pillows for 8 years now. I don't remember an odor but it did take a short period of time to get accustomed to turning over without the bounce that a spring mattress has. I am happy with the mattress but don't think it is worth the high price. You may be just as happy putting a decent memory foam topper over a traditional mattress. My TemperPedic mattress is still as good today as it was 8 years ago. I haven't had any issues with sagging or feeling hot from the mattress. I don't feel like my feet are elevated when laying on my back, but I nor
  24. You're half right. Gasoline is more efficient than ethanol but does not burn cleaner. Ethanol burns clean. When added to gasoline, it reduces emissions. E10 gasoline is the norm around here now in an effort to reduce emissions. I use to have a Ford Ranger with a Flex Fuel engine and filled up with E85 several times. I wanted to use E85 more frequently but there aren't any stations selling it around here. It burns cleaner, keeps the fuel system clean, has a higher octane rating (100-105) and is a domestic product instead of from foreign oil. While I am supportive of using ethanol in Flex Fu
