  1. I needed this today. A young man proved yesterday that his attitude had everything to do with it. He decided in October of last year to change his attitude - he decided to earn his Eagle Scout rank. He had a HUGE task ahead of him. And, last night, he proved that his attitude was all he needed to get through it. He earned his Eagle Scout rank. I copied this and sent it out to the troop today. Thanks for these posts. There often just what I needed to hear (or read in this case).
  2. 1Novella had bbq ribs, squash casserole, pinto beans, etc. She's trying to peel pepto bismol pink painted wallpaper off her kitchen walls. I think MIL came to her rescue. We ate at Mom and Dad's - roast beef, gravy, mashed cauliflower, steamed broccoli. Cooked hubby dinner when I got home after soccer camp - spaghetti and meat sauce.
  3. It could also be her hormones. I had long hair (until yesterday - cut 11 1/2 inches off) and about a week before that time of the month my hair would come out by the hand fulls. The rest of the time - the normal 20-30 hairs. It was really noticeable in the house because it would EVERYWHERE.
  4. I think it goes in cycles. Also a tragedy seems to draw everyone together for a common cause. Thankfully we haven't had one lately in the county. It'll come and go. Just like any family. Some will walk away to take a break and be back later. ! I know I haven't been on here reading as much as usual -just busy.
  5. There are two issues - 1. Their lids aren't quite as sealing as I would like. 2. They want $6 a piece for them. I need 25. Plus, if I can find them in the community and rescue them from the dump or even the recycling bin, that just keeps more out of the waste stream. "A Scout is Thrifty. A Scout works to pay his own way and to help others. He saves for the future. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property. " excerpted from US Scouting.org
  6. No, those are probably too small for what we need.
  7. I'm in that same boat - doc declared me one of the healthiest fat people. It's not always about what I'm eating today - I'm paying for what I ate in college and the 90's.
  8. Yes, get me what you can. The buckets from Sam's will work - but they are a little less than five gallons. I will take any and all that you can get for me. Which chik fil a do you work at?
  9. The poster in my ped's office is very clear - never put a child under 12 in the front seat of a car with an air bag. I have run fire and rescue in another state - I've seen what an air bag can do to a 10 year old. They aren't positioned in the seat correctly for what the air bag is designed for. They end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's just an ugly mess. Don't put a child in the front seat before the age of 12.
  10. This is why you never put anything onto a computer that you don't want the whole world to know. I was taught that in high school during my very first computer science class - and it's still valid today. If you don't want it repeated or if you don't want it known - don't put it down. When I bought my truck, I had my mechanic check over my truck to be sure it didn't have a black box. And, it didn't.
  11. I will take them - I was told that Chik-fil-a's came in pouches now. Obviously I was told wrong. Let me know when and where to get them. The pickles aren't the problem. Actually, those buckets are the best because they've been designed to keep the pickle juice in.
  12. This conversation is exactly why the government doesn't need to be in the health care business. For that matter, the government doesn't need to be in any "business." The fact is that if we got the government out of the health care business, there wouldn't be any taxes aimed at changing people's behavior patterns. That's not what taxes are for - taxes are to raise money for the federally or state intended functions. Not to change an individuals behavior. The only reason the population accepts these kinds of taxes is because we realize that we are all paying for the consequences of these in
  13. I apologize - I thought you were trying to save time and energy (which I totally understand). If you don't know how to get a hold of these folks, then word of mouth is going to have to do. In our family, it's a laziness issue - no one can be bothered to pass the message on.
  14. Where are you? I could really use two by Thursday so that we can demo packing in them.
  15. I've had that happen to me before. ! I grew up in MD and we had to do this then, also. Usually just once - then we hold onto the buckets until the seals wear out. I just don't know any construction companies around here to ask. I did talk to the Sam's bakery - it's a good possibility - they just have to be sure that they won't be penalized because their recycling poundage would be down so much for the week.
  16. They didn't have the lids when I stopped by a couple of months ago. Thanks for looking!!! You all don't get product in big buckets do you??
  17. We are looking for about 25 5 gallon buckets with sealing lids. Our guys are going canoeing for the weekend and the absolutely best way to pack is a 5 gallon bucket. It keeps everything inside dry and they float if they get tossed into the river for some reason. Makes retrival a whole lot easier. If you have them, but need them back, we would be happy to borrow and just replace any that might get damaged. In the past, McDonalds has always been very helpful to give us the buckets - dill pickles come in them. But, alas, everything smells like pickles when you get home. ! Than
  18. Mine isn't. She's there tomorrow. Good luck.
  19. I would hesitate to count on the word spreading through the family. We have this issue in our family, and basically it means that someone ends up with their feelings hurt because they weren't called. If you need help calling, please ask someone specifically to do the calling - don't count on the word spreading.
  20. Voice of experience speaking - we've put engineered hardwoods in our house, helped my dad make and install hardwoods in their previous house (bought rough hewn lumber from the sawmill and planed/routed/sanded/installed/stained/sealed), helped my dad put pre-finished real hardwoods in their current house, helped the neighbor put in traditional hardwoods that had to be sanded, stained, and sealed in place. From my experience, 1. Even if you don't install everything at once, buy everything at once. There are natural variations, etc. and colors do slightly change over time. So, if you
  21. Hubby isn't home and I want seafood - where can I get great seafood tomorrow night? I remember something about Villa Rica - but not enough to find it via search. Any help is welcome!
  22. This is EXACTLY why I never leave a patient that I know at the hospital alone. EVER!! I have spent many a night at a hospital with friends and family just sitting all night because I was the last one that could still be there. (Hope this isn't a blaming or snotting post - it's really meant to be a "I've learned your lesson too" story). Hubby was in the hospital many years ago and he wanted to be left alone. I sat in the hallway for three days. I did catch one medicine mistake - they almost gave him someone else's meds. They probably would have caught it when they went through their chec
  23. Just wanted to remind everyone to be sure that you know what your insurance coverage is and a general amount of what you should owe. My husband has had to have two procedures at Cobb Hospital in the last week. Routine stuff. When we arrived for his procedure last Friday, we were told that our part was $2500 and they wouldn't do the procedure without payment. Now, let me say, we have really good health insurance. He has this procedure once a year for the last 20 years. I've been married to him and have had this insurance for the last 17 years. It costs us about $250. I thought
  24. Cartersville Schlotsky's closed about two years ago.
  25. Money for nothing and your chips for free.
