  1. Possibly so. But ALL of our pneumatic suppliers always told us the same....Do Not Use WD-40. This was SMC, MAC, Crouzet, Festo, etc.
  2. With the exception of pneumatics. The gaskets and seals used in most pneumatic or air operated devices will be destroyed by WD-40. We had/have several lines of machines which were powered or controled by compressed air. Customers would learn the hard way not to use WD-40 to lubricate or clean anything pneumatic.
  3. Working around the house and garden Saturday, and making about 10 gallons of Brunswick Stew. And 2 blackbottom pies for Sunday. Sunday afternoon, daughter and SIL, and Camila are coming over for daughter's birthday. We also have an old work associate who is from South Africa, but lives in Australia who will be visiting with his new significant other, and his daughter and her husband and kids who live over in Cherokee country. We only see Gwyn every other summer when he comes for his semi-annual visit. We have known and worked with him for going on to 30 years.
  4. Call the guys at Enterprise on 278 up from the DQ 770-222-1193. Any of them will help you out, and depending on when, what, etc. they may cut you some slack if it is over a weekend. I believe the current manager is Eddie. I rent cars and pick ups from them on a regular basis, so I have a corporate account and they cut me some slack, but I believe you can get a 15 passenger for about $100 a day. Insurance will be extra unless you carry a rider on your personal policy to cover rentals, and/or have an American Express Platinum which will cover cars, but I am not sure about vans. Am
  5. Rack of Lamb, on the grill, RARE along with some beef ribs. Garden dug fresh potatoes with chives and parsley, cream and sour cream. Garden salad with arugula. Crunch baggette and sliced frest garden tomatoes. A nice Spanish Rioja to wash it down. Life is good!
  6. That is not entirely true: There are basic standard number ratios which our banking laws demand a bank must maintain in order to be considered solvent and qualify for FDIC, etc. It is not a question whether or not they were forced to take TARP, it is, and was a matter of meeting the minimum deposit to loan ratios, and if not then they had to take TARP funds, or sell out to a stronger bank. The point to stop and consider between TARP and FDIC: With TARP funding bailouts, the Feds have a very good chance [although it is still a gamble] of getting their funds back, and keepin
  7. The truly pathetic part of this is the admitted campaign contributions to SEVERAL of our local polticians at the same time they were approving, and then paying the Facility Group for the design-build of the King Jerry Taj Mahal. Ethics,....? Yeah right! Think of old Tricky-Dick shaking his head, "I am not a Crook- I am not a Crook!".
  8. And I don't think that cost included the land. Yes, I think we got ripped off. Big time. But we will have to pay for it none the less.
  9. Exclusive, fancy, and if you have to ask what anything costs, then you can't afford to be there. We attended a very exclusive wedding of a childhood friend there many years back. You reach the island by boat/ferry. There are no bridges [unless they have built one since we were there], and there are no cars on the island. Only golf carts. Most of the water access is by sea walls and riff-raff barriers on the ocean side. The coastal side is pretty much marshes.
  10. We are still thriving off of the tons of left overs I was able to vaccuum seal and freeze after the family reunion last month. Tonight I believe will be Cuban Sandwiches with sliced smoked/roast pork loin, lettuce, pickles and mayo. If you have never had this very simple sandwich, you have missed something special! This weekend will be about 10 Gallons of Brunswick Stew made from the other leftovers from the Reunion which are in the freezer and some chickens I will stew starting Thursday. With a couple of Gallons of Whitey Tomatoes!!!!!! Thank you Whitey!!!! Later all, S
  11. The Integrated circuit Teflon Carbon Fiber technology Freeze Drying Technology and the list goes on and on.... Not to mention maintaing all of Big Brother's Satelites....
  12. The sauteed mushrooms we had last night and the rare London Broil from Tuesday night together with a little wine and some sour cream, and voila.......Beef Stroganoff over some linquine, a garden salad, crusty baggette and some chianti.
  13. No, that is my cousin. His mom and my dad were brother and sister. My siblings all chose to ignore this reunion and to continue on a feud which existed 40 years ago between my folks and some of the kind. My brother's oldest son did choose to attend and had a blast. He is the young man in the dark shirt on the far right standing between my daughter in the front row and her husband in the back row. If my brother, sisters, their kids, and grandkids had come, there would have been an additional 26 people there. But hey, it was one hell of a lot of fun. We had kin from Hawaii, Southern,
  14. OK, we had our big family reunion the end of June at the Civic Center in Rome. Many of the descendants of my Great-Grandfather's 9 brothers and sisters were present. We had representatives from 5 of the 9, with 100+ in attendance. It was getting into the evening when we gathered my 1st cousins and our kids for a group foto, which I just received today, along with many more. Note the expression on my son's face, the young man in the center with the Tam on his head [he was wearing my kilt]. We did get another individual more serious shot as well. That is MrsSurepip and our da
  15. Gosh, where do I start. I have been most fortunate to have amassed a great many family heirlooms going back several hundred years. I have the 5' diameter round heart pine table with the lazy susan from my great-great-grandparents. Is dates from the mid to late 1700s, and the great big bread bowl which had the bottom worn off, and another one added. Hanging over it is a pull down lamp made from a 18th century kerosene lamp. The tile mosaic in memory of Dave the Mule who pulled the tipple cart at the Rome Brick Company which my great grandfather ran and owned part of in the late 1
  16. I will take that as a compliment dear. Want to come over and eat with us sometime ? Patton catches us on occaision, as does TBAR.
  17. Left over leg of Lamb I did on the rotisserie on the grill last night, with rice and gravy, red wine reduction, lentils, sliced tomatoes and a garden salad with a nice Chianti to wash it down with and some crusty french baggette.
  18. Wrong. Some of the breeding stock companies are Canadian, but our pork comes out of North and South Carolina. Possibly some processed meat, bacon, canadian bacon, sausages, etc. might be imported, and will say so. New Zealand exports their Spring Lambs to us when it is fall here. Lamb [sheep under 90 pounds] are hard to come by in the Fall and winter. There is no way the meat industry in New Zealand and Australia can afford the shipping costs to send their products here. I would be very interested to see what specific meat items you have data on which comes from New Zealand.
  19. Chicken, Pork, and Beef, as sold in the USA, is pretty much all from US producers. Fish is a whole different story though.
  20. Go deep-sea fishing on one of the Party Boats [Destiny and Princess I think]. $60 to $80. If you like snapper, grouper, etc., and get lucky you can catch $100 worth of fish. They leave at 7:30 in the morning and get back mid-afternoon. Take lunch and refreshments and have fun.
  21. Takes me back to my Boy Scout Dutch Oven cooking.... Layer pork chopps, sliced apple, and canned sauerkraut. Add a quart of apple juice. Bake at 350F for an hour. Really a wonderful dish.
  22. I go to Dr David Wood next to Ingles. There is a clinic there with 3 or 4 different doctors, and they are Opthamologists, not just Optometrists.
  23. I agree Pubby. I look at it this way: 1] We should have had an increase in 2007 when the decision was made to build the extravagant TajMahal out on 278. I mean we were not given the opportunity to vote, at least we could have attended the town hall meetings and lodged our protests before it was built. I would perfer to see David Austin and the BOC go on and raise it what they have proposed, plus another .5 mil extra to loosen up some on the cutbacks they have already put in place. 2] To cut back further on Police, Parks & Rec, and PDOT would be foolish economically and for the
  24. Dirty Gin Martini on the rocks, with Gordon's Gin.
  25. The pitiful part is all of this austerity would not be necessary had King Jerry done the right thing last year and propose increasing the bond to pay for the courthouse. Instead, fearing he would get his butt kicked in the election [which he did anyway] he and his BOC swept the proposed increase under the rug, and paid the bond payment from the reserve fund. Now, we have had some serious cutbacks, more proposed, and will still get the increase we should have gotten last year. "Oh the tangled webs we weave, when we practice to deceive....."
