  1. Pilgrim's Pride has a processing plant in Carrollton, and a hatchery in Bowdon. They occaisionally have clerical jobs available. There are also several other plants in Bowdon, and Southwire in Carrollton/Whitesburg.
  2. If you are going to be driving the speed limit, then the Golden Isles parkway is hard to beat. But get your lunch before you get off I75. You can also go the highway from Perry. If you like to push the envelope speedwise, then I75/I16 will be quicker. There are many deserted stretches where you can do 95 to 100.
  3. The weather in DC in July and August is miserable though. Normally makes our North Georgia weather look comforatable. And it is tourist season on top of that.'
  4. Showing my age, but I remember in high school when LaCrosse introduced their alligator line of clothing. And it took off big time. There were lots of knock offs, little screen printed ones, etc. I knew people who would cut the alligator off an older shirt, and sew it on on which had had an umbrella, or whatever. I always have liked having a breast pocket, so that was one craze which skipped over me. Back then NO Izod shirts had pockets. Trademarks cost a good deal of money to copyright, and to protect. Our SUREPIP logo, and trademark has been around since 1983 and back when we were r
  5. I have an edger attachment I rarely use for the Ryobi. Find out what the Depot is selling them for, and I will take half that. It has been used once.
  6. That would possibly be for just the increase in the bond for the courthouse [although I am thinking it will be a bit more than that]. But you also have to factor in the Homeowners Tax Credit which Sonny and our illustrious Speaker of the House have taken away. That one will cost a $200,000 home about $20 a month. And we still don't know what the BOE will be doing.

    supper

Skewered chicken hearts cooked on the grill, fresh asparagus, salad [although most of what was left in the garden has burned up] fresh sliced maters, crusty french bread and a cote du rhone to wash it all down.....after the prerequiste dirty gin martinis
  8. Long pants, long sleeve shirts, and sulphur dust around the cuffs and collars. Better yet though, pay the children of your neighbors $0.50 a pint to go and pick them.
  9. We actually tossed out the ring leader of the past 8 years in the primary last July. David Austin had nothing to do with the decision to build the new courthouse palace out on 278, but he is getting saddled with paying for it as well as having in essence to refinance for last year's payment which came out of the general operating fund instead of issuing a new bond, which is what we are now going to do. Had this been done last year like it should have, we would have $6+ million more in the bank to deal with the revenue shortfall.
  10. This is the reason King Jerry and company chose to sweep the increase under the carpet last year and pay the bond for the new Palace on 278 out of the general fund. We have a very small, albiet, minimal bond payment now. When adding in the increase for the Palace bond, it works out to an almost 200% increase IN THE BOND PAYMENT. That does NOT mean your taxes will double, only the exisitng county bond payment. The pathetic part is had King Jerry gone on with the increase last year, we would have the funds left over in the general budget account to carry us through this year wit
  11. Grilled Rack of Lamb, rare, with a red wine reduction, basmati rice, grilled asparagus, and crusty french bread. A Sangiovese slightly chilled red wine to go along with it. Might have a small garden salad with it.
  12. The County has already spent $750,000 to Holland & Knight, a high power heavy duty Republican law firm, just to try to prevent us from getting into the courtroom with our lawsuits against the BOC and the developer. Currently, they are planning to keep up the spending, choosing NOT to accepting an offer from us to mediate a settlement. But I have to assume when dealing with a valid lawsuit from a citizen trying to make the county enforce its own laws, regulations, and zoning stipulations, they find it necessary to try to prevent those suits from getting in front of a jury at any

  15. They want the experience, but most will grant you an interview and the opportunity for you to sell yourself even without the prerequisite experience. And some of that will be hit or miss pure and simple luck as to how you, and the interviewer hit it off. As I mentioned above on my first big job; me, and my resume were in the right place at the right time. My boss HATED writing the letters on a daily basis which were necessary to keep all of the various entities for a massive [$250-Million in 1974 dollars] contstruction job building a cement plant, all on the same page. And, his assist
  16. What sort of work are you wanting to do ? Degree programs are not necessarily tied to specific occupations. I was originally supposed to be an Orthodontist, as were my dad and granddad. I majored in Bio-Chemistry to be able to enter a Dental School. I then determined I had no patience, with the patients, and chose a different path. I signed on with several "Head Hunter/Employment Agencies", and I was hired by a German Engineering company as an apprentice draftsman based on my math background. I got a lucky break and my resume went across one of the senior engineer's desk my fir
  17. What is your degree in, and what field are you looking at entering into ? Since you made it clear you are now in California, you can rule out working for the State, unless you want IOUs for a paycheck. You might want to start with "Head-Hunters", on fee paid jobs. As well as the government employment offices. How much have you worked in High School and College ? Even if they were fast food sort of jobs, they showed initiative. And assuming you were punctual and dependable, you might want to use them as references only to show that you came to work when expected on time.
  18. Brasilians are some of the most, if not THE MOST agressive drivers in the world. When my good friend Mario - Denis - Andretti is here from Braisil visiting, he goes absolutely nuts with our drivers and stop signs. In Brasil, the stop sign is there only to provide the details of who has the right of way. No one really "stops" at them, and especially if they are in a wide open place where it is obvious no one is coming on the main road. Denis cannot stand it when we actually come to a complete stop when no one is coming. He almost has to be sedated. Brasil is big on traffic go-round
  19. A typical Paulding Planned Residential Development with McMansions on postage stamp lots cleared of all trees for as far as the eye can see.
  20. To take true advantage of having this wonderful business incentive lure for our community, we need to have industrial lots and buildings ready to lease and/or build on near the airport. Our leadership understood from all of the ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS how they needed to have lots and finished houses ready for the lookers to purchase. We need the same for the businesses we expect to locate here. A potential business looking at moving to Paulding does not want to hassle with buying land, getting permits and then building their place. They want to look at 3 or 4 buildings in
  21. I do not have current contact info for many of those who worked with Eric at Surepip. If anone know how to get in touch with any of the following to let them know, please do......... Tim King Henk Lockhorst John Diggs Todd Johnson Sheri Eakley Phil Hicks, Richard Hicks, Phillip Kesler Anthony Sedgeman Charlie Newton Katlin Ross Savannah Howren Brian Taylor Andy ? And several others I can't remember at this point in time. Eric was unique and just a special person who will me missed by many. These are off the top of my head. We closed everything down b
  22. We have received messages from several of Eric's old co-workers and friends. We still do not have all the details, but it appears the viewing will be Tuesday evening at Flannigan's Funeral Home in Buford, and the funeral itself will be Wednesday at 1:00 at either Flannigans or Prince of Peace Catholic Church. If anyone would like any additional information please feel free to PM me on P.com. For those who knew Eric, he was a special person who always had a kind word for everyone he came in contact with. He will be sorely missed by many. Thad aka Surepip
  23. Send your local state representative, Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson a thank you note for getting the $4,000,000.00 / $4Million axed out of last years budget which was earmarked for our airport terminal and support buildings. The Speaker insisted on getting into a pissing contest with Sonny at the end of the session and took some below the belt swipes at our illustrious Governor. And Sonny retaliated several months later by using his Line Item Veto to KILL the $4,000,000 for our buildings. Oh, and last I heard we were still waiting for the fuel tanks our Airport Director, Blak
  24. The previous 12 to 15 years of BOC has focused and concentrated on paving the way for the ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS to come in and make millions and millions and millions from building houses, houses, and houses. In the process Paulding has taken the term "Bedroom Community" to entirely new levels. I refer to is now as a dormitory community. We have a new BOC with enough new faces to start leading Paulding in a different direction. Hopefully they will be able to change the focus now to creating jobs by focusing on building industrial/office parks as their predecessors focused on houses
  25. George Eric Knowlton, longtime friend and co-worker passed away last night. Best I can recall, Eric would have been 59 later this year. I know there are several of our old Surepip Hatchery Equipment Company employees who visit p.com and who knew Eric and his wife Shaune. He worked with us from 1982 until 2003 when we closed everything down. The Knowltons lived in Paulding off High Shoals Road back in the 1980s, but moved back to his family's homestead off Jim Moore Road in Dacula, between Lawrenceville and Athens in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I can't remember exactly when. E
