  1. Well for starters, Glenn Richardson, former Speaker of the House, and the person who held this seat the previous 11 years had to step down in disgrace last November after his ex-wife went public and confimed him having an affair with an Atlanta Gas Light Lobbyist for who Richardson had sponsored a bill to build AGL a new gas pipeline. And his replacement, Daniel Stout, had to admit just after his election to replace Richardson, that he had had an affair with his ex-mother in law while his wife was pregant with their child. And now we come to Paulette. If you are not somewhat embara
  2. Did Paulette give her interview with Galloway/AJC by cell phone from the cruise ship ? As I recall she had to renege on the Chamber of Commerce invite for yesterday's event because she was going to be out of town on a cruise she was already committed to take in the midst of her campaign. I have to wonder if she will have to take a vacation in the middle of March and miss a couple of weeks of the Legislative Session as well ??? The "Trumped up Charges" line is a cowardly way out. If she could not stand up and fight to defend herself, how is she going to stand up and fight for the c
  3. Paris is, and has been our favorite city to visit for many years now. In addition to the Louvre, the Orsay, and many other fantastic museums are all over the city. Rodin, Picasso, and many others have dedicated museums. We have been probably 8 to 10 times for a week or more, and have yet to visit all of the Louvre or the Orsay. We generally devote 1 full day each. Madrid is also packed with Museums, but full of pick-pockets as well. Barcelona is tremendous for all of the Gaudi and Picasso influence, not only in traditional paintings and statues, but in the archetecture and parks as
  4. I disagree, and Will Avery is a good example of new blood with fresh ideas coming from the Democratic Party. Hopefully if enough of those who are indeed conservative come up from the Democrats they can bring the party back to a more moderate position nationwide. Carol Porter as well as Dubose Porter also push a more conservative agenda. The Tea Party movement proves there is a desire nationwide for conservative leaning politicians to step forward in both parties and there are many places, like Paulding where the old Republican Guard in control are nothing more than RINOS who run on a Repub
  5. Larry McDonald had a tremendous political future in front of him and his death was a loss to the citizens of Georgia and the country. He was a bit to right side of everything when it came to conservative values as were many of our old Dixiecrats.
  6. Let's take a look at what is going on in the World economies. Brasil, long a forelone 3rd world country has a GDP growing at more than 7% annually. 2 of our largest meat producers in the USA, Pilgrims Pride Chicken/Swift/Smithfield is now owned by JBS out of Brasil, for a cash buyout last December, and Keystone Foods [the largest resteraunt food supplier in the world and inventor of the McNugget] was bought out by JBS's biggest competitor from Brasil, the Marfrig Group 2 months ago. These 2 Brasilian concerns, along with the USA Tyson Food Group are now the 3 largest meat suppliers i
  7. The district 19 seat is and has been full of embarassement for Paulding for years. Richardson's escapades had long been in the media, and even with the continual denials it was and still is an embarassment for us in the county. It took Dale Russell with Fox5 and Richarson's ex wife to finally push him out even though it was common knowledge under the Gold Dome as to what was going on. So we replace him in a special election with Daniel Stout. A bit far to the right for me, and like Feelip said, don't put beer in my cheerios, and leave religion out of politics. None the less, another em
  8. Sam Nunn was a keeper as well, as were many of our Dixiecrats. What alot of today's Republicans don't know or realize is there were no Democrats to speak of in State or Local politics until the past 10 years. Thurmond, Richard Russell, the Bakers from Tennessee, Connelly and Johnson from Texas and many more on the national scene who were not liberal lefty Dems. What we are seeing here, and elsewhere in this election cycle with those who truly believe in the the Tea Party movement is a rejection of what have become false Republicans or RINOS. And from where I sit, Paulette is inde
  9. Come on now, is that the best you can do ? If she could not afford a lawyer to defend her, the court would appoint one for a felony charge. "NOLO" pleas are generally for a first offense where you are guilty as hell, but the court lets you take the NOLO plead in a first offense. DUIs are often pleaded out with a NOLO. Sorry, but this is another case of not properly vetting the candidate. Bottom line is the local GOP felt all they had to do was win the primary, and walk away with the seat as they have done for the previous 12 years. Mr Avery has shown himself to be tenacious
  10. I have to imagine some are just laying low from the embarrassment their vetted candidates have provided. The entire state GOP is a mess, an Paulding is a prime example of how bad it is.
  11. It is obvious the Georgia Republicans cannot vett a candidate. Her attendance record on the Paulding BOE speaks for itself. 43 missed meetings in 8 years. I believe her replacement on the BOE, who soundly beat Paulette 2 years ago has yet to miss a meeting. Stay focused Kim Cobb, you are, and have been one of the best BOE members ever elected. Paulette's voting record, 8 out of 8 tax increases along with 2 bond referendum approvals speaks for itself and denies her "Tea Party Conservative" stance. * years was enough to tell us what she supports. Rhetoric now saying otherwise is irrel
  12. Hey Mr O, Your mailbox is full, or broke. Tried to send you a pm and it was rejected. SP
  13. If you will season the meat with kosher salt and black pepper and brown it in a skillet for 8 to 10 minutes all the way around, and deglaze the pan before putting the meat and carmelized bits into the crockpot you will find the meat has much more flavor.
  14. I had hip and knee problems growing up, which caused me constant problems with my L discs. Several rounds of knee sugeries took care of the knees, but the damage had been done already to my discs. I have been taking high doses of Ibuprofen since it came onto the market in the mid 1970s. 1000mg to 2000 mg per day. Luckily I have an iron gut and don't have any side effects. Mid 1990s we were getting ready for the poultry show, and I lifted or did something WRONG on Monday. Lower back was bothering me with classic sciatica by the time I got home. Then all hell broke loose. I was coming down t
  15. We have made it for years, but then again, we eat a lot of lamb. Tzatziki Sauce: 16 ounces plain yogurt [ or greek yogurt works quicker] 1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded, and finely chopped Pinch kosher salt 4 cloves garlic, finely minced 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar 5 to 6 mint leaves, finely minced Place the yogurt in a tea towel, gather up the edges, and put in a wire mesh strainer over a bowl. Drain overnight in the refrigerator.or a couple of hours for the greek yogurt. If you don't do this your sauce will be real runny.
  16. The new Chinese tariff on poultry is in retaliation for a tarrif we put on Chinese tires we import from them. Trade wars tend to be stupid and do more damage than good. And the Chinese are also trying to bolster their poultry industry. They cannot grow sufficient corn and soy to compete with the USA and Brasil. We are already protesting this through the World Trade Organization. China is a large market for us, but Brasil would be more than happy to step in and supply what we have been supplying. The single item it will hurt us on the worst is the Paws or Feet. The Chinese are the
  17. We get no chicken from China. We export our chicken to China, and they have put on a tarrif/import tax on our chicken going in to China to make it more expensive for them to import it and sell there. It will have a negative effect on our market unless we can export the same product elsewhere. The Paws, or chicken feet is the one which will hurt the most as there is no other viable market for the feet. Luckily we resumed exports to Russia last month and that will move the excess out of the domestic market. Corn prices are being driven up AGAIN by the Ethanol fiasco. The Feds are dis
  18. I wish them well. We have so few places with good food. We just don't go for the industrial food served by most of our locals. It seems the Cotton Gin Building, and that corner of downtown Hiram have some sort of a jinx. Both are good locations, nice ambiance, parking, etc. Maybe we can help break the jinx and get a good and successful place to eat.
  19. Alas, NO, The Boston Sea Party is closed. It was on Roswell Road a block or 2 north of Piedmont/Habersham. We were frequent customers there for years and years with visiting customers. Part of what made it so convienent for us was not having to worry about translating the menu, but it was pricey. I think the last time we were there not long before it closed it was $40, and extra if you wanted a Lobster or a Steak. But I always got my money's worth. They had 3 "Piers"; Cold Pier with traditional salad bar stuff, plus shrimp, caviar, raw oysters, smoke salmon, salt cod, nova, pickle
  20. Here is the attendance and voting records. I am certain the Paulette Posse will still deny what is here, but you can confirm from Jan 2005 through December 2008 on line on the BOE website. You will have to pull up the old copies manually before then, have at it:
  21. What lies and innuendoes ? The numbers for 2005-2008 came from the BOE website. A hard working diligent minion looked up the 2001-2004 via paper copies from the meetings. Paulette arrived late, left early, or entirely missed 44 meetings. And missed 271 votes from those 44 meetings. Yet she sent out a mailer during the run-off, berating Stout for missing votes under the Gold Dome. Pot meet Kettle ? Whitey has posted her less than conservative voting record on tax increases and bond approvals before. But I will see if we can get him to put it back up again. She may claim
  22. Didn't one of Paulette's mailers [paid for by her company and not reported] accuse Daniel Stout of missing votes during his brief tenure under the Gold Dome ? OK to point the finger and blame Stout, but she gets a free pass ?
  23. And VOLUMES! During Paulette Rakestraw Braddock's tenure on the Paulding County Board of Education from 2001 until 2008, she seems to have missed quite a few meetings, arrived late, or left early. But even more telling, is in the process of just not being there a great deal of the time, she missed 271 votes. Come on now, 271 votes ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mg-3pFXrcI&feature=player_profilepage And just how hard is it to attend meetings just down the road for an hour or two, twice a month in the evening ? Yet she expects us to believe she will s
  24. Time to add more chlorine to the pool? Or skip that and just dump in the acid and start all over with balancing the chemicals ?
  25. Come on. This is the lady we want representing us under the Gold Dome ? She does not understand the basic principals and rules of campaign donations ? She does not know or understand the ceiling limits on "in kind" donations ? She does not know or understand whose donations she has to report ? Placing information on her website stating she only has to report donations of over $200, which became irrelevant because she reported absolutely ZERO donations for all of July and August even though she held a $600+ cost BBQ on 4th of July weekend and did not collect a single donat
