Gaines Park in Kennesaw is WONDERFUL! They're located at the intersection of Old 41 and Barrett Parkway. I can't say enough about the cleanliness, TLC, daily activities, other residents, etc. Dad is in great hands. They do these videos every few months. Check out this cute one!!

Do you really believe our local board is afraid of teachers unions? I don't think so. If our State Superintendent says it's bad for our children, I believe it's bad. Please read that article and comment away. I think it explains who is behind the push for the amendment. That's what scares me the most. After all, who is paying for the TV commercial? If that doesn't put up a red flag, I don't know what does!

Please understand what Amendment 1 is all about. My fear is that some will go to the polls, not knowing what it means, and vote "YES" because it sounds good. "YES" does not say that you support Charter Schools. A vote of "YES" means that you approve an appointed committee to decide if a Charter School should be opened in a local school district. I will be voting "NO" because I believe that local Boards of Education know what's best for their local governments. I also believe that Charter Schools are great. I just got my passport. I had my original birth certificate from NC (without a seal) and the PO wouldn't accept it. I came home, google "birth certificates Winston Salem", printed the form, mailed it in with a check, and got a birth certificate with lots less info than my original. It did have a raised seal. I made another appointment with the PO, and they took it all. The birth certificate has to get mailed with the application. Both passport and birth certificate will be mailed back within about 4 weeks in separate envelopes. Getting a passport picture made at Walgreens is cheap

I've dropped about 27 pounds since Sept. 29, when I decided to diet. I watch carbs. I'm not on an Atkins diet, just a low carb one without cutting fruits and veggies. I do not eat potatoes, pasta, or rice, and very little bread. Water is my beverage of choice and I drink it all day long. I'm eating more proteins: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, tuna fish, etc. It's working so far! I just need to lose a little more before summer! Congrats to all of the success stories!! I see many of the stores open at 7a.m. I believe this is better than Black Friday. I get so many gift bags, ribbons, and Christmas gift stuff on close out to start preparing for next year. Where's the best place to go? Usually I hit up Walmart and Target. In the past I have gone to Cracker Barrel and other cute gift stores. Is there somewhere else I should go???
