1.

Just admit it, stradial, you miss postman and until he gets back you're going to make posts that remind everyone of him.
2.

NC, while I agree with you about "wallowing in victim status", growing up and taking responsibility for your actions as an adult, you have to remember that everyone's psyche is different, and what to you might not be a big deal, to someone else it may be traumatic. There is a big difference between drama queens and individuals who are more sensitive to stimuli, although there is a special label for drama queens too in the science of psychology. Personally, I think the science is a little too label happy and not everything out of the immediate n
3. I know. And I don't disagree with your opinion either, or most others tbh. It's always interesting to know what people think of, although sometimes I forget to stay detached and simply to collect the data.
4. See, to me there is no difference at all. I think in each case it is emotional, whether it is the fear of rapid health decline, or inability to cope with life. It is very disconcerting to see that people have more compassion and understanding when a person is at advanced age and suffering from a life threatening condition. It is alright then to commit suicide and these people are not cowards like the young and healthy ones. Do you know why someone with suicidal thoughts rarely expresses them to anyone they know? Because they will be kicked while they're already down. You want to help som
5. I'm sorry to hear you have had to witness so many of your friends commit suicide and glad you never had to encounter post-partum related suicide. And although they all would weigh equally on some, I wonder what the opinion would be of others not only when they compare the four examples you have presented but also one where a mother has taken her life shortly after giving birth. There is another question I have but I would like to see all the possible responses first.
6. To me they are all the same and no less "understandable" than the other. By that I mean there is equal amount of compassion, since no one really understands what goes on in the mind of someone who decided to end their life. Stradial, that's a good one! You should've thrown everyone for a loop, though, and added a woman with post-partum depression.
7. Did I say "you" had political agendas? You are caught in one, in case you didn't understand what I was trying to say. This is waaaaaaaaay beyond your political agendas. Or your neighbours. Or any other residents of Paulding County. You're just a pawn in someone else's chess game.
8. Probably because there is a lot at stakes with Delta breathing down their necks and recruiting volunteers to spread panic and raise doubts amongst the population with unfounded fears. What BOC and AA are doing are just standard business procedures. You and the others like you have been simply caught in a politically based psychological warfare.
9. Not defending smoking here, however you do know that alcohol related accidents are responsible for more deaths every year than second hand smoke illnesses, right? Nobody has put a gun to anyone's head to smoke, drink, or eat junk foods, but, please, let's not make smoking the biggest villain here, because by far, it isn't, not in health related issues, nor in monetary cost nationwide.
10. It still exists. It may be a little more lenient system but there are only so many days a child can miss before the whole process of truancy begins. You get a letter with a warning first, then either a school official visits your home or you have to attend parent/school administration conference. After those steps, if nothing changes, legal ramifications begin for the parents, which are not limited to being arrested, having children placed in foster care, etc. I think, because of the cost and unavailability of health insurance, the amount of days missed without a doctor's note has been ext
11. Dear Postman. I don't care how much of SoB he is. A lot of therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and so on are SOBs and narcissists. However, in academic world, no one references Dr. Phil or thinks much of his "therapy". And please, don't tell me about him being too innovated and unorthodox for the white-bearded conservative founders of Psychology ( I'd fit that bill with just my tattoos and collective applications from varied practices) but a refresher course in Ethics might be what that "good doctor" is way overdue.
12. Why? His version of Jerry Springer show is not enough for you?
13. To touch on your comment about rehabilitation, a little jokes between therapists: Why do you never see narcissists going to therapy? Because there is NOTHING WRONG with THEM! Postman, Dr. Phil couldn't educate a kindergardner. All he cares about is HIS opinion and, of course, the revenue from entertainment.
14. So, this meeting is to start planning door-to-door congregation? As in where you walk into the subdivision, start knocking on every house' door, and give your sermon on airport expansion? I can see two scenarios with that. One, if it was me, I'd invite you all in and begin proclaiming how end of the world must be coming because evolution is now going backwards. I'd bring in all the examples of the scientists over the centuries that were considered heretics because the Church opposed progress. Two, if you show up on a weekend morning and knock on my door, I just might let my mutt out and
15. Oh but it is hypocrisy. And we're discussing the topic of CVS stopping the sale of tobacco products. Everybody agrees, those are harmful. Stopping the sales of those harmful products and not other is hypocrisy. I believe that would constitute as an opinion of CVS and their new policy. And I doubt they'd lose a lot of money on it when it is much cheaper to get cigarettes at a convenience store. P.S. mrshoward, since it's obvious that only certain threads can be expounded on with side topics and water muddying, I'd love to see a thread discussing some of that research!
16. Whitey, do you at least get frequent flyer's miles out of this whole deal?
17. Glad I left on Sunday! As much as I miss snow, I'd rather just look at it from my porch than the ditch on the side of the mountain. Been reading all these posts for hours and praying everyone gets home safe or at least finds a warm refuge overnight.
18. Wake up the first grader and let him/her annoy the three teenagers while you're sipping wine and laughing at them. Your complete relaxed and entertained attitude will throw them off balance and they will stomp off to their beds in bewilderment. Have another glass of wine and couple more chuckles then call it a night.
19. Sauté some mushrooms with onions in butter and mash them in with potatoes. Goes great with any meat.
20.

LOL then I would have put "Dumb and Dumber" in a subtitle!
21.

Yes, it does, literally. I had a mother and a husband like that.
22. Confusion and uncertainty are your constant state of mind. You find yourself always on the defensive, either apologizing for something or trying to explain yourself to others. You wonder if your reality is something you've made up and everyone else sees it except for you, causing you to doubt your own ability to make a sound judgement even about simple things. Nothing you do is good enough, you're not good enough, and you can't seem to get it right no matter how hard you try. You start to think that you are losing your mind; your sanity is slipping away and you can no longer get a grip on
23. You're not giving yourself enough credit. I tend to be mostly long-winded and usually deviate a lot, I just haven't had that much time to devote to other things with the beginning of the new semester. Your posts are detail oriented and informative. Right to the point.
24. Hope they were able to stabilize the pain management by now. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
