  1. You're trying to reason with people that you support to abandon their unreasonable tactics and to revert to finding a solution that would benefit all parties. You're going to find it to be a very hard thing to do. As many valid concerns they do bring up about this airport, it's the attitude of "we want what we want and nothing else" that is hindering any lasting progress or changes they could have made already. There is nothing wrong about being passionate about your cause. But this cause has been taken way too far by some unfounded accusations and speculations that makes the anti-airpo
  2. Please show the research and statistics that indicate the crime is caused by the local commercial airports or their influence on the surrounding areas going to "SHIIT" as you say. If you're going to fight this battle, at least have the valid information to back up such statements.
  3. And that is why you don't "friend" the other "parent" on your facebook. Unless you are one of those rare couples that remained friends after the break up, why would you even want the other party or their friends know what you do or post? That's setting yourself up. Not a very smart thing to do especially when you are in the middle of a custody case. Anyway, my rant was not about so much as social media's importance in our lives as it was about the power of advertising using the science to get into the minds of people to buy their products or participating on their platforms. I'm not be
  4. Absolutely true! What applied then, what circumstances were at the time, the mentality of the people of that century is not what it is today. Was it wrong on all accounts? Yes! But you cannot cut out parts of history to suit the current time or opinion. One must take into consideration all facts. It is incredibly sad that those native to the lands they occupied for centuries were banned from them by the whites. It's even sadder that their own people have chosen to believe the whites or had other motives to betray their own people. Yet, both parts are factors and such is history.
  5. I have several Facebook accounts, for family, business, and my personal, as well as Twitter for my business. I hardly post on either of them other than auto-tweets for advertising. I, like you, find it incredibly useless to update the world on my every happening of the day. Nor do I care to see what others are doing. Pubby, you hit it right on the head. The power of advertising and the use of psychological manipulations as such have become a staple of out society. I have no problem with using suggestible techniques to drive customers to my business, it's all part of it after all. But
  6. Steak and shrimp. With whatever spices I can find to throw in to make it hot and yummy. And spicy carrot salad. I think I even have a bottle of red wine somewhere.
  7. So what you're trying to say is that one Firm, or even more specifically, one person out of this Firm is in control and runs the entire county? Now that I have a hard time buying. Once again, if it is a conflict of interest, why is it allowed legally? Maybe the laws do need to be redefined but the only person who is proposing that is arguing for the side you're against. What stops you from lobbying to redefine laws that would not allow such conflict of interest? And if David Austin is not doing his job, vote him out and you'll have an opportunity to have a fresh start for the county.
  8. I understand your point about no conflict of interest. But it must not be considered so legally if this has been the case for years then or otherwise it wouldn't be permitted? Do we even know for sure if Tom Cable has been acting on his own and if he has been, once again, hasn't he been doing his job trying to prevent another legal loop to be exploited by the other law firm? I fail to see the harm done with that action compared to all the other things that have been going on in this whole airport deal. As little as I know about corporate or government dealings, that to me was one of t
  9. I usually don't get into politics discussions precisely because I have no knowledge on how things as you described above work on any level: big government or local. Which is why I asked, as reading half thrown out bits and pieces of information here weren't really clearing up things for me. The way I see it, how different would it be if the county had its own in house attorney? Isn't this firm basically fulfilling that position now? I'm not arguing with you btw, just trying to clarify things. An in house legal team would have to fill all those same positions at BOC, IBA and so on to pr
  10. That's my point as well. I know it's advertising but it just made me shake my head in disbelief at how insinuating that if you don't have followers and not so active on social media somehow makes your life less of fulfilling.
  11. Forgive my ignorance since I'm not from Paulding, only getting ready to move there, but... The question then that arises, if they do have that much influence in the county and it appears represents all of those you mentioned above, doesn't it mean they have sufficiently fulfilled their obligations or the county would just fire them and get someone else to represent it? I was actually sarcastic in my post above. Everybody sees this firm as the dictatorship usurped by the attorneys in it or council to the mafia and such. But maybe that's where all those conspiracy theories stem from as well.
  12. Got this email for my twitter account. The last line made me ask myself: are we really that dependent on social media now that it has to become "an invaluable part of your life"? I can see it being the case if you're building an online business or advertising your "brick and mortar" business. However, even then to place such importance on it in my life would be an absurdity. "Take 2 minutes to make Twitter work better for you. We have one suggestion: follow more people. Yes, more. Following is how you build your home timeline. Building a great timeline is at the heart of making Twitter work.
  13. Every time I see someone say "The Firm" I have an urge to go dig up that movie with Tom Cruise. Boy, whatever this "firm" is that everybody keeps talking about must be really something in Paulding County if it's being referenced to as such.
  14. Well while we're there, we can say of we had less money involved in the government with the way it is ran and how/who gets elected, we wouldn't be in the mess we are as a country too.
  15. Can you come over and do that in front of my dogs and kids please? Maybe they all will stop hanging out in my kitchen period!
  16. I've made it a point to ask any of my kids' friends if they're allowed to come with us or stay for dinner and to make sure it's alright with their parents if I'm inviting them. If I didn't issue an invitation, I have no qualms about telling the guest that I had prior plans with my children and, sorry, but it is our family time. If a guest does come with us, I usually let them know the range of what they can spend. The only person I don't do it with is my daughter's boyfriend. Him and I have our own arrangement: we take care of each other's families and don't ask who's turn is it or ho
  17. The only cheap flights I could find up north were Delta. I could have gone with Spirit Airlines, much much cheaper, but they only have select destinations and like I said, I'm spoiled, I don't feel like flying then driving another 2 hours to get to where I need to be.
  18. My impression of HJ unfortunately was different. Oh, and it did get me only few steps to check in at my little airport without getting on the train to get to my terminal. Actually, I didn't have as much of a hassle checking in at the other major airport when I flying home either as much as I did when I was changing my flights in Atlanta. I'm spoiled too, I like less fuss and the simpler it is the easier to deal with it. Not to mention much cheaper too.
  19. Just this past weekend I flew up north to visit family. The little airport that is literally minutes away from my home had several flights and they were all by one airline. I figured I'd check the nearest big city airport in case I could get a none stop flight. Majority were once again one airline. As I was trying not to get lost at HJ on my layover I was thinking to myself how on all my trips to Dallas the only thing I'm not saving on is time, although I doubt getting out of HJ would be that quick. I really don't care what "their plans" are, whoever "they" might be but it would be re
  20. Whitey, the only way I see that kind of effect on Paulding if this airport became the size of a typical commercial airport with thousands of people flying in and out in a matter of an hour. According to the surveys done by Delta years ago that is impossible due to the topography, I believe. There are many towns across the states with airports that may have a thousand of passengers in a day and I don't believe those towns are ruined in any kind of way because of that. But, please, show me how many of these small airports have influenced the downfall of the surrounding area. You know that
  21. In my short time here I haven't seen Pubby being anything other than fair. Although I have seen him being attacked for not agreeing with someone's views and being basically called a tyrant because of it, he still allows those same non-paying members to state their opinion on his site even when they oppose his own. Whether the opponents would take that opportunity or not depends on their own preconception or strategy. It'd be interesting to see which of them would maximize all of the resources available to them to reach as many voters they can and how convincing they are in their pursui
  22. Haha, no stradial, it wasn't. I have no interest in wasting mine or your time ranting about my ex and his real or imaginary evils. I do however lean myself towards self preservation, just interested in others opinions.
  23. Btw, there is no right or wrong answer nor judgement intended if someone chooses not to recognize or prevent someone from causing harm to others. I simply want to know the reasoning behind the actions. I'm not after turning this thread into "what's morally right" and would like to ask the rest not to either. We can always have a separate debate about that
  24. I think if taken evil as general such as you point out dog being hit or children starving in other countries, it is a form of self-preservation. We would be incapacitated if we reacted emotionally to every wrong-doing in the world. But I was wondering if we know people around us, such as in our neighbourhoods, someone we might even know who is close to us or otherwise an acquaintance might be committing acts that harm others but we close off ourselves until the harm has been done to us, which is it then: ignorance or self-preservation? I didn't really have a specific evil in mind, an evi
  25. Just because we don't witness the evil, doesn't mean it isn't there. We dismiss it and distance ourselves from it even when hearing about it on the news happening right down the street, but as long as it doesn't touch us personally we choose to act as if doesn't exist. Is it self-preservation or ignorance?
