  1. Actually, those are exactly the kind I was thinking of. That is adorable. My Mother taught young kids for 20 yrs. She once told one little 4 yr old boy who was about to burst to be able to see construction going on beside the school through the wooden privacy fence... Mom told him-"Well, I guess it's okay(hating to only tell them "no, no, no" all day)...just peep thru that hole though"(meaning, a small hole in the fence and not to climb, etc.) A minute later, Mom looked over to check and he had his pants down, hinney shinin' and face first into the fence . She was in her 50's then, and
  2. Ah! This was so for you . I just got this from a friend totally out of the blue...immediately thought of you...not so much about the grief you are feeling now but about God providing for all the things that are trying to weigh you down.... "When someone tries to take the wind from your sail just remember... God provides the wind, not man!" good to know. I had no clue about that.
  3. One of my very favorites! I never heard that sort of gossip but I've always worked in downtown Atl, Vinings or further in Cobb so never any real "small-town" stuff. Lots of the Buckhead Betties and Vinings Socialites would congregate there but that was only the superficial, ridiculous talk like the stuff you see on any of the housewives shows. My brother is a doctor and although I never know and have no WAY of know who is talking about, he has had me rolling for years.....especially with his early career stories in the ER. All the craziness comes through those doors.
  4. great story! Reminds me of Otis from Mayerry a little bit(as far as being behind bars as well as friends with the law). I was reminded earlier of one of my very favorite clients....that was this threads inspiration. I've never had clients to tell me adultress stories, etc., I think it is b/c I really dont wanna know that stuff and it is my habit to keep it lighter and I love to ask people about their lives and their families(and people LOVE to talk about themselves, too!). I know a few of them at least had to have some nastiness going on, but you learn how to guide a conversation and I never
  5. Well, you are in a different biz. We get to know these people like family, in a lot of cases, and what makes them tick often times makes them "famous" in the salon/spa. Nothing mean would have ever been tolerated had it gotten to the right people but even the owners(which I was one)enjoyed the quirks of all the different customers through the years.
  6. I understood the question b/c in many stores, it has not been legal to carry liquor unless it is beer and wine, no hard liquor. I think that is where this question came from. Yep...now a lot of Walgreens carry wine.
  7. I have been a hairstylist and massage therapist for over 20 yrs now. I have always worked in high end salons that honestly brought in all types of people....every age group, race, religion, financial situation, etc. But, you know that people are just always people. If you're in a biz to converse or associate with people, they are going to make an impression(all types)and people ARE gonna talk. And, ohhhhhh, do I have some stories! I know it's against the rules in certain professions to tell anything confidential but if you are or have been in a "social" biz and enjoy listening and observi
  8. I had a client like that for a few years. She constantly sang her teen daughter's praises and fully condoned her dating a 30 year old man. Oh, she also always contended there was "no sleeping together". The daughter was a knockout and no dummy. She played her parents like a cheap fiddle. The whole thing always gave all of we salon employees the heebie-jeebies when they would come in.
  9. This is all new right now. It is very emotional and it just hurts. Although, you'll never "get over" losing her, you won't always feel the way you do today and I think there is some solace in realizing that. You will have better days and some of them will likely start sooner than you may think b/c you are a wonderful and compassionate person(we can see that)and you get back what you have given. It is a fact of life and nature that God set into motion, no matter who you are. Sent you a PM. Prayed for you today.
  10. I have a SUPER DJ and he will HOOK YOU UP. He's in Douglasville and goes anywhere. Known him 20 yrs. I only known his "real" name and cell so I will get his biz info Sunday and send it. The hair thing....Gurrrrlllll, Iz noze peoplez. I have a couple hairdresser friends who are in your area. I can ask if they are interested and give you a price idea? Both are certified Sasson/Toni and Guy/Aveda stylists and I use them both for my hair(and Im picky!!! ). Oh, neither are owners and both typically jump at the chance to make a few side $ . You wouldnt be disapppointed. Congratualions. I'm ve
  11. Pottery Barn-East Cobb Avenue of off Johnson Ferry and Roswell Rd.
  12. The Coueys were great people. I hate this for anybody, especially this time of year and in this rough economy. It gets expensive between whether or not to file with ins., deductible, replacing items.etc.
  13. Gaaah. I know you're right. I just cannot imagine that. I didnt even really know exactly how to go about the whole 'getting pregnant' thing in Elementarty and honestly, middle school, too.
  14. Always dress a bit nicer than what you'd be wearing to work there on a daily basis. IMO, a jacket and skirt (suit) with a top or shell underneath(wear an overcoat if it's chilly so you can take it off inside...you dont want to be sweating it out in a hot office) with some pattern and color. Some dark, pointed, closed toe heels and sheer hose to match. Makes you look very professional, modern, and not "blah" basic black or navy that will make you blend into all the others. You want to stand out and be memorable for the right reasons.
  15. The Mom may not be giggling when she's raising her grandbaby.
  16. Welcome to the Jungle... Not many people could get away with that. Misty Blue is lazy Sunday afternoon music. LOVE that one.
  17. Local news looks for the dumbest person around to interview everytime. I think she thought this was her Oscar moment.
  18. I always got (and STILL do)a jar of sweet pickles with whatever else I get for Christmas. It always has a bow on top and is under the tree. I've always loved them and my parents made it a tradition. Even 3 yrs ago when my Mom died right before Christmas, my Dad came to my house, on the 28th, and set a jar of sweet pickles, with a bow, on my front steps with a card saying he's sorry they were late.
  19. I agree. People should take a minute to actually look and think before they jump to conclusions. I am a Christian....a Messianic Jew, even. I celebrate Christmas(b/c we are Messianic) and I believe that Christs birth was literal and thats why we celebrate. Christmas, itself, is not "biblical" , the birth of Christ, the Messiah, is. I took this piece as a statement against over-commercialization of the real meaning of Christmas. I'm not gung ho on using the cross for just anything but I know everyone doesnt feel exactly the way I do. I got the meaning and wasnt offended.
  20. that is scary! I used to do the same with my son. But, I never let him know what I was really doing when he would come home from ANYBODYS house-even family. "Where'd you sleep?", "Did you wear your Power Ranger pajamas?", "Where did ______ sleep?", "did you take a bath?", etc. He just thought I was was asking about the time he had and I was but I also never fully put blind trust in anyone(except my own mother)and asked him questions to make sure eveything sound on the up and up. I would ask him about all sorts of "stranger" situations, too. When I'd hear something new on the news about how
  21. Good for you Dana! You are exactly right about them being mad. Let them be mad, roll eyes and act like they are the ONLY ones with a dorky, outdated Mom. I care only about their well being and that they are safe and healthy. I have always cared much more about this than offending another parent by them thinking I'm over-protective which has happened more than a few times in 18 yrs. It's MY child and God gave them to ME, not anyone else.
  22. I have a lifelong friend that is a Cobb cop on the Silver Comet Trail. He has told me for years that a woman alone has NO buisiness being there or just about anywhere wooded, for that matter, like Kennesaw Mt and Cheatham Hill. He even told me once that he wouldnt be thrilled about his wife going with only one other woman even. Its not that its a horrible place, but there are just too many places for someone to lurk and hide. We should all be able to go anywhere, anytime we want w/o fear but the truth is, we cannot. If we dont watch our kids every single second and remain vigilant about oth
  23. that is a disgusting mental image. I couldnt get to Pcom earlier today and yesterday it was slow.
  24. Thank you all so much! I just read all of these to him. I was thinking about the boubon and am going to get some in a few mins...cant hurt, I guess and Ive always heard it can really help. Also, Im going to call in the am and try to get his appt moved asap. Dr's arent as busy or as booked here so I can probably get something sooner. He has a friend who is a good Chiro here in town. Gonna see if I can get him to go see him, too. At this point, he will do pretty much anything to feel better.
