  1. IF my BFF called me and asked me to bring them chicken soup when Icezilla is outside, I'd tell her.......well.....I wouldn't tell her anything because she wouldn't dare ask me to risk my (and my child's) safety to drive over there when she is perfectly capable of opening a can and getting some herself.
  2. I disagree. They're not getting spoiled. LEARNING is way different than going to work each day and doing the same thing. Brains need time to process and need rest. I have worked with and without the breaks and the kids do much better with them. I'm a teacher and I booked a vacay, too. I have accumulated 200 hours worth of leave and I'm not afraid to use it!
  3. Ok, so we can't talk about the private citizens in the castle but we can talk about this guy? What gives?
  4. They aren't going to show it until 2:05am....like every other show that has been over-run by the all-day-long-weather-forecast!
  5. i don't even have a regular shovel....my brother borrowed it a few weeks ago and it hasn't found its way home yet.
  6. FWIW, I vote that you add minutes to the day (up to 30min) to make up as much as possible.
  7. I haven't heard this. The only days they have left to take are the post-planning ones.
  8. Assume we miss this whole week + the 1 day in December = 6 days to make up. (A day is considered 5 hours, I think) = 30 hours to make up (or 1800 minutes) Last year we did from spring break to the end of the year, so let's stick with that. 7 weeks = 35 school days 1800 minutes / 35 days = 51.4 minutes per day. Okay, that didn't work out so well....let's try from Feb break to the end of the year (12 weeks or 60 days) 1800 minutes / 60 days = 30 minutes a day Remember that these figures are IF we miss this whole week (worst cas
  9. When it flooded we were on a 180 day calendar, so the flood used up our 4 built-in days....an appeal was sent to the state and the 5th day was excused....but remember that we had to make up the snow-days. This year we are on a 176 day calendar. We don't have any built in days. I don't know if "state of emergency" has anything to do with it or not, but many systems in the state cut back to the minimum amount of time they were required to have the kids at school to save $$.
  10. Some of mine were....I just hope they don't land on youtube
  11. 8th grade math http://www.crctlessons.com/ Ask your kid what they're working on and google it and add the word "worksheet" and you'll get lots of printable stuff.
  12. We're going to have to make up these days (plus the one from December), in July. I hope it doesn't interfere with your non-refundable Disney vacation....even though you were begging for someone to pay your electric bill so you could have money to buy your kids a new Wii for Christmas. **the above situation is completely fictional. If you got offended, then maybe it wasn't.....
  13. As important as mail delivery is trash pickup....
  14. I have Netflix coming too AND I ordered a bunch of stuff online late last week that I probably won't get. Good thing I didn't splurge for quick shipping!! (and I don't know what negative nancy gave you a -1 )
  15. Yup, but you know how some people are....
  16. :shakeshead: FYI, if we're out all week, then again on Monday-----3,5,8 grade will STILL have a writing test as scheduled next Wednesday.....so they'll only have 1 school day to make sure they're ready.
  17. My ped prefers that I use Motrin over Tylenol. I don't remember why.
  18. I got extra Chinese food so we would have leftovers for tomorrow
  19. THUNDERSNOW! I thought I saw lightning earlier, but then I dismissed it as tv reflections off the window.
  20. At least. I predict teachers report on Wednesday, students on Thursday.
  21. I  idiots. I'm watching this one, but I can't listen to him AND the scanner. http://stormscapelive.com/
