  1. I can get Netflix on my tv through my BluRay player, Wii, or computer that's connected to the tv.
  2. This is what I was going to say about furniture. If you have the essentials, it's a minimum level priority. There is a LOT of cost involved with moving-----the actual act, cleaning the new house before putting stuff in it, painting, changing over utilities, etc----so I would delay adding any additional costs until this stuff is done. Also, I would bet that you can fill up the house with what you have. I know I could fill up one twice the size that I have now with what I feel is "enough" for this house. Think about it.
  3. +10 for the picture. I hope this becomes a pcom trend. That's because stupid is okay. I've sat in many conferences where parents were okay with their kids not doing well in school because they didn't do well in school.....academics, behavior, work ethic...... This attitude is why poverty is generational.
  4. You know that gut feeling that parents get....
  5. I hopped on the back of many bicycles and cocotaxis while in Cuba....but I was in the touristy area. Locally, lots of bikes and lots of walking.
  6. There are 6 billion+ people in the world. Only 300 million of them are in America. 5% of the world pop = 40% of the jobs. My take on it? I have heard from so many parents over the years that their kid has been failing math since elem school. At what point does the PARENT have to take an active role in their child's education? How long to PARENTS let their kids fail? The difference between America and other countries? The role the family plays in education.
  7. You mean a shockumentary? I'm sure it's completely factual and non-biased.
  8. The dinging sound from the open door would drive me insane.
  9. I didn't know we could do that. I need to rethink my parenting strategies. I kid, I kid. Also, my new tshirt worthy motto: not my sperm, not my problem.
  10. My comparison was not the magnitude of the storm, but the number of people who felt they knew better than experienced meteorologists. My family is most certainly prepared for the disasters which are likely to occur in our area, which are most likely going to be tornadoes----which strike with little warning. Hurricanes give DAYS of warning. The storm has been targetted to hit NC since TUESDAY afternoon. There are no excuses.
  11. What the hell? Women abusing men? I've never heard of this before..... These women are bat-sheeze crazy!
  12. This is exactly what happened with Katrina. Overnight meteorologists. (Of course, in that case....too many false alarms) I am truely worried about the effects of this storm on the northeast and would advise everyone to take it seriously. Irene was larger than Europe at one point. I wouldn't truck with that.
  13. The Waffle House truck is headed towards the Outter Banks. Apparently, the company gets their WoHo's up and running (often with generators) so that emergency workers have someplace to eat.
  14. So if you get child support you can't buy crab legs?
  15. 900 bystanders make emergency situations take longer. This is the 3rd code red I've heard of in local middle school is school year.
  16. Have you looked for a rec team? May be a little less competitive.
  17. My kid is perfect. Unless I want to brush her hair
  18. Did you see this? Yikes!! http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html
  19. I thought there was an internet petition years ago to ban the use of DHMO?
  20. I'm sure antibiotics can clear up whatever problem you people are suffering from.
  21. Before that I used to go to a chatroom called The Gaming Zone. You would go sit at a "table" with people and play basic games and "chat".
