Parole board denies clemency for Troy Davis

White is actually the absence of color. -
Fair enough. My advice is to PAY YOUR DEBTS.

Spelling is pretty low on my list of things to worry about. I don't care that I don't spell properly. Usually it's vowel sounds that mess me up. You should hear me when I speak.....vowels all kinds of screwed up. It's my experience that pcommers avoid actual conversation when it hits too close to home by focusing on the mechanics of the post more so than the content. This thread was about debt collection and the OP feeling like she didn't need to pay Dell.
-
I standby what I said and I've already quoted myself, as not to hide from my own words. I like how my one statement is the focus of this thread. It takes the focus off of the rest of the thread and the rest of the posts I made about people not paying debts they owe. Am I in the minority in believing that if you obtain a debt, you should have to pay it?
-
Fine, you're right, I'm wrong. Clearly, my inability to spell is the reason. That and you're me so you know exactly what I intended when I write things. Me thinks the crush is turning into a bit of an obcession.

"WAY TOO MANY" is a subjective phrase. It's not hyperbole. I feel that ONE is way too many, where as you may feel 10 is, It is what it is.
-
Only those with a guilty coincence would feel like I was directing my comment at them. And, it's not backtracking, IF you would stop being so defensive you would realize that my future posts further expanded what I had originally written. That's how discussions go. You say something, someone else says something, you add a little more to what you said....
-
well that's just mean. Could you imagine if he would have taken that sedative expecting that he would never wake up......and then he does and he thought his jail cell was the afterlife. You could really f-- with someone.

Are you a pcommer who doesn't feel they need to pay their debt? Did I say everyone in this thread was a lowlife? No, I refered to those who feel like they don't have to pay their debts. This little crush you have on me is flattering.

The bank sets the rate. *I* make the decision to borrow. If I can't afford a computer outright, I have two choices: credit or save. No one twists my arm and makes me buy these things. No one makes me buy too much house, too much car, too many electronics, too many dinners out with friends, too many spa treatments, too much fancy furniture, etc. NO ONE. This thread is an example of personal responsibility. I had surgery back in March and the bill was close to $1500. I worked it out. I eat out less so that I can send a payment to Emory. It is important to me that I make goo

Clark Howard is a wealth of financial information. I believe that every situation is different and that he makes blanketed statements. I like to use his site as a resource fairly frequently.

It's like we can't read. IF YOU OWE A DEBT AND CHOOSE NOT TO PAY IT THEN YOU'RE A LOWLIFE AND A THIEF. What is so hard to process about that? If you dont' owe the debt, you must not be one.

My bad. I have a phonological disorder and in 7 years on pcom, you're the first to call me out on it. Well played. Of course, if you stick with the content and not inverted vowels, then we can really get somewhere with this discussion. I saw your comment before you editted it, and yes, I am a teacher. I teach math. I know that if you owe $11K and you pay $0K, the buck gets passed to the rest of us who do business with that company. I don't know that I've ever experienced such defensiveness in all of my years on pcom. Truth hurts, no?

Here it is: If you borrowed money on credit (meaning that you received goods or services prior to paying for them) and you chose not to pay the company back, you're a theif. If there was a mistake (identity theft, etc), then the charges should have been disputed long before a collections agency got involved. If you neglected to do that, then have your day in court....since you didn't receive goods or services, you shouldn't be responsible for the debt. Now, this whole "original contract" bullcrap is a lame ass excuse to get out of paying a debt that youi know you owe. That

It's simple economics. People don't pay for their goods so the company passes off the loss to the rest of the customer. I read a whole lot of "based on my experience" type posts. In fact, some of the posters are fairly knowledgable about how to get around the system. This bothers me. I don't believe that debt collection laws are walk around knowledge and that hte people posting have personal knowledge and/or experiences with beating these laws.
-
And see, I feel that this sort of behavior begins in the home. I don't believe my child will learn personal responsibility from anyone but me. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb by saying that many of the people in collections situations probably aren't even aware of the current state of our union.
-
So, what's good for the goose? I wasn't aware that personal responsibility was a government issue.
-
Yet you chose not to quote my last statement.

People place their personal financial information on a public message board and expect me not to draw conclusions about them? I have absolutely no experience with this matter, as I've paid all of my debts. Regardless of the circumstances in my life, I've managed to do without the things *I* want to fulfill my financial obligations. I don't get this thread. I get hard times, but I don't get just flat out not paying something and then trying to fight it when a company tries to claim what is theirs. I understand fighting it if there is a mistake and the debt is not yours, but w

It is clear by the posts in this thread that we have way too many pcommers who feel like they don't need to pay their debts. That's okay, the rest of us will foot the bill with higher prices on EVERYTHING. Lowlives.

I should be done with him by then.

Coke has been doing this with their Dasani, but I don't think it's 100%. A friend of mine was on the team that developed it for Coke. -
$9.95/mo Internet for Low Income Families with Kids
workingforaliving replied to afriendlygeek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
This is one time that I'm okay with subsidizing this program. 1/3 of my students lack internet access. Every teacher on my team posts notes and class updates on their webistes. My version of grade recovery is web based. A decent percentage of my students don't have access to this information. Unfortunately, they're the kids who need it the most. Most of the students I teach HAVE computers, but their familes were forced to give up internet access when one or both members of their household lost their jobs or had their hours cut. These kids are SUFFERING educationally. I st -
Holy Crap! I got 3 degrees for less than that! One even came from a private college. Maybe he should consider a transfer to a more affordable university. I was trying to be sympathetic and think about solutions, but that did me in.

I took the kiddo there this summer. We stayed in one of the cabins. I told her when it's cooler we'll sleep in a tent. Pretty cool place.
