MOST of those things are funded by fundraisers. VERY little money is spent on those types of things. In fact, my extracurricular club is funded by "dues" and a fundraiser....cutting it out would save NO money but will go a long way to turning kids off to school. Just sayin'

In addition to that, they wouldn't have to heat and cool the building for a full day----the heater/AC probably use a lot of electricity to get grooving in the morning....and so do florecent bulbs. Based on my electricity bills, I'm no expert on saving energy Be still my heart Are you implying that Paulding built schools they don't need? Strange. I would be concerned about the impact on student learning.....and of course how it impacts the pay of not only the teachers, but the lunch staff, custodians, bus drivers, etc.

Saturday mail delivery on chopping block

All I get in my mailbox is trash. All of my bills are paperless and I pay them all electronically. I buy a book of stamps and it lasts until the next rate hike. -
I remember Elliot Yamen doing it better and I think everyone else will too.

You forgot bad teeth. I think Casey is just a pretty face with limited musical talent.....the middle aged adult woman's version of Sanjaya.

d) add 7 1/2 more minutes to the day after spring break (I figure 2 days = 15 minutes and did some math) -
just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything

WTF is this thread about?
-
Yeah, in my first post I said it was okay. It's the crappy ones that I don't care for.....usually drunken texts that are lame. Guess it really depends on who it's from. You could mass txt me anything and I wouldn't be annoyed....but someone else could send me a holiday greeting and it would bug the piss out of me. I'm ornery like that.

Every Christmas I have to reply to about 6 people with "Who is this?" because I get new phones a lot (thanks to the kid) and don't find them worth of programming into my new one.

I posted twice....because I'm an attention whore.

depends on the topic. Acceptable for life announcements: "It's a boy" etc Unacceptable for dumbassedness: "I just puked in my backpocket"

As it turns out, when my dude was rocking my world, the world was literally rocking. Epic. -
Do your children know about your finances?
workingforaliving replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If I give my kid a quarter, she thinks she's rich. 2 nickels rock her world. I'm good to go.....for now -

No one in the county really lives more than 20 minutes from their schools....why did it take you so long? I live 30 MILES away from the school I work at (45 minutes one way) and I made it there on time. Reconsider your route. -

When is this mess supposed to hit us?

Have you ever heard of this happening?

We're not talking one batch of "tough" kids. 7% proficiency in math and 55% proficiency in reading is the result of YEARS of poor performance. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I would like to think that MY boss would get rid of me if I wasn't doing my job. Apathy in education is rampant and fewer of the apathetic people are leaving due to the poor economy.....and it sucks for the kids. I bet they do.....half of those teachers can be hired back....and if it were me, I'd be the best damn teacher I could ever be if I was looking for rehirement. -
MY biggest issue with the drinks for middle school aged kids----parents have NO IDEA why little Johnny can't sit still and pay attention in class (never mind that he's downed 2 energy drinks BEFORE arriving at school and you packed another one in his lunch)---and blame the teacher for not "controlling" the class or being too strict. <----speaking from experience
-
OMG! I totally thought this when reading that thread but didn't want to insert my opinions there. When I taught Health I made sure to include a unit on the dangers of energy drinks....especailly for kids. It amazes me the number of kids drinking them at school.......especially the kids that are ALWAYS in trouble (usually for hyperactivity related offenses). DDD

pfft....traffic sucked....luckily I didn't have to go far to get to my dad's house.... Best part is I'm spending the night here so we can take the kids to the circus in the morning!
