  1. I just fired Dick Donovan as my attorney in a child custody suit. My NEW lawyer went to the courthouse to get my file and Donovan FAILED to file all of the necessary motions. It's a fairly routine custody/visitation situation and he managed to SCREW IT UP ROYALLY. In addition to not filing the proper paperwork (and this all started in January, so it's not a recent thing), he showed up LATE for court without notifying me somehow he wan't going to be there until later, he was UNPREPARED to defend my case to the judge. I wasn't aware when I hired him, but I was later told by many people t
  2. holy crap @ Pants on the Ground. That William Hung kid never goes away. (is that his name?)
  3. Kiddo and I made the cake together....which means it's fat and calorie free. Stress? There are less than 2 weeks left of school and my students aren't going to be at that school next year. BEHAVIOR BLOWS!
  4. It wasn't him. Some dude jumped up during the Simon Song.
  5. Chocolate cake. Oh yeah, I'm preparing for swimsuit season.
  6. was the Kanye moment scripted? The haste of the commercials was suspicious.
  7. My weather radio went crazy a while ago. Scared the crap out of me.
  8. Crap....does this mean I'm going to get my GA refund at the end of the summer again?
  9. It's DVR'd so I can watch it tomorrow. I got home late and doubt I can stay up for the 2 hours required to watch the whole thing....and then the wind-down time I'll probably need when it's over. I can't wait!
  10. Based on the hoops everyone had to jump through to get a parent portal password, I think that there are security concerns with the whole email thing. I don't know for sure though.
  11. I end up with a TON of paperwork after the 1st day of school. It'll be nice to have the weekend to deal with it. However, a TON of kids will miss that day. PS....your kid isn't withdrawn until the 10th day of school. Enrollment is from the first day the kid shows up....if they show up on the 3rd day of school, the first 2 days don't count against them. You could literally bring your kid on Day 8 with no concequences. Strange?
  12. Friday instead of Monday. It's part of the 176 schedule change. I wish they would have taken the 4 from the end...just in case we have weather days (considering we had 7 this year!)
  13. The kiddo gave me a cup of dirt for Mother's Day and told me I had to water it and put it in the window. I did and this green thing is growing out of it.
  14. When we hit the 10 day mark a lot more of them will be going home for the rest of the year.
  15. Paulding's HELP training (and trainers) are very specific about restraint as a last resort. Sometimes it has to be done. I, personally, would exhaust all other means of calming/communicating with the students due to the vast amount of paperwork that goes along with restraining a student. :shutter:
  16. There was a link to a video on there where the teacher responds to the video. I don't have the stomache to watch it. I have a couple of "trouble" kids and I swear one or two teachers at my school have him on radar....since they come out of their classrooms to yell at him every day. Sad thing is that he's on his way to MY class so I have to deal with his bad mood (and I can't say I blame him)....I finally told administration that they could deal with the other teachers or I could....either way was fine by me....but I wasn't going to continue to "fix" this kid's bad mood every day.
  17. Saw that on the news this morning.....it's a damn shame. Though many would be suprised at the amount of VERBAL abuse teachers give students.
  18. My philosophy is that if the kids don't have those materials, then they won't learn.....thus my position is reduced to babysitting. (another thread, another day) I get the point, but I'm still pissed about my markers. $2 is a lot. My school is only asking for $1. With that being said, we're also sending home "summer packets" to students, which raises postage.
  19. I'm going to send a bill to the parents of the two students who ruined 4 dry erase markers today. And then I'm going to send a bill to my student's parents because students "borrowed" more than 300 pencils from me this year. And then I'm going to send them the bill for the 32 packs of paper I went through. And then for the graph paper that was on the supply list, but was ignored. Oh, and I never got my bottle of glue back from that one kid. It's $2. STFU.
  20. Last time it got TOO cold when we got a cool-down. I need to work on my tan.
  21. My sister has been harassing me to join her team.....but I'm afraid I might break a nail. She doesn't get me.
  22. I've purchased some very expensive items by not converting my money properly (I haven't had to work with Euros though). My dad purchased a zebra skin in South Africa this summer for (what he thought was) $200....until the CC bill said $2000. Guess he should have carried that zero
