  1. I'm just glad they aren't trying this down here. You know that when they showed up to build, there'd be tons of people with guns waiting for them. The north is all screwed up, this is exactly the type of thing that makes me totally disinterested in ever moving there.
  2. I grew up in FL with no AC either, but I think the heat here is worse, there is no breeze at all. Down there, even living in central FL, we'd get a bit of a seabreeze which cooled things off a bit. I went down near Lake Okeechobee about a month ago, and even managed to take a nap outside, but there is no way I could do that here, I'd have a heatstroke.
  3. Ours wasn't as high as most people's, but we are in a tiny apartment, and barely use any electricity. Our thermostat is up to 80, we do laundry and dishes at night, and our lights are only on at night when we are moving around (like 15 mins per night total). And I'd also like to say that I officially hate greystone and their lack of customer service, but that's a whole other story.
  4. That brown patch could be some clay for all I can tell.
  5. If the world ends, what's a backpack gonna do?
  6. Even most diploma and associate degree based programs (i.e. Tech Schools) let students use their financial aid. The whole West GA Tech system does.
  7. This policy is most definetly not from the state. I've never encountered it before, and neither has anyone I've spoken to personally. I know West GA Tech, in Douglasville, had half their student's pell money available last week, well before classes started, to make sure they could get their books on time. This is her second in a row, third total (first one was at North Metro). She's never even dropped a class before, and this isn't just her, apparently this is their general policy. There may be students that apply just to get the Pell money, but that's not the issue here, she's on
  8. I don't think they sell the SCT100 codes anymore, I know the campus I work at does not. When they did the price was nearly the same as the original book.
  9. They are saying the money won't get on her card for 4 to 6 weeks. I went to UWG, and when I did, my money was available in the book store to purchase my books before classes even started, and one of my friends needed some of it for some school related supplies that the book store didn't carry, so they gave him the amount he needed of his pell in cash before school started, to make sure he could actually go to class prepared. She's thinking about just coming down to West GA Tech, since I've made some connections there over the past year while working at the bookstore during the first two we
  10. Unfortunately most of her books are computer books, and the rest of the expense is for CNA. She needs a physical, a few tests, scrubs, books, background check, and drug test. Just that part is like $300 to $400. She's also doing SCT 100 and Bus 1100, and books for that is over $300. And then she still has her CNA book or books (not sure, we don't carry that at the book store I'm working at). I told her she's just going to have to transfer to a regular school, that let's you use your financial aid for school supplies as intended.
  11. She gets both, but the whole point of the Pell is to assist students with the cost of school, like books and supplies, and living expenses. I'm working at the West Ga Tech book store, and have attended 4 different schools, and today I asked all my coworkers, who've worked at tons of different schools, and no one has ever heard of another school that doesn't allow students to spend Pell money on books.
  12. She's been approved for a while. This is her second quarter. She called up and spoke to her advisor, two people in financial aid, and left a message for the president of Chattahoochee tech, and that message was returned with a call saying that their policy is to make students wait 4 to 6 weeks, and that they will not make an exception. Whether it was the president who returned the call, she didn't know. But either way, it's bad customer service, and a horrible policy. Jessica's mom used to do it at KSU as well, and she has never heard of this either. She thought it would be cleared u
  13. So Jessica is trying to do CNA classes at Chattahoochee. She was just told she'd have to wait 6 weeks to get her financial aid, and would have to pay out of pocket for all her classes and supplies, which is around $600 total, and then wait the 6 weeks for the money to go on her card as reimbursement. She tried calling up there, but the people she talked to were totally unhelpful. Does anyone know about this? I've never, ever heard of a school refusing to allow students to use financial aid to buy books and supplies. After all, that's the whole point of financial aid. Any help is appreciated.
  14. I've been tipped on carry out for going above and beyond, like helping the person find a coupon, which technically drivers and CSR's aren't supposed to do, or just being very polite or patient with someone who has no idea what they want when they call in.
  15. Patriot is good, and the guy at South Side seemed nice.
  16. Very, very few tip on carryout. Usually only if the person does a special order for them, or they know the person. Yeah, chicks make more in tips than guys. Alot more.
  17. When I worked at Dominos, I made minimum wage. It's a good thing too, because there were days when I'd work an 8 hour shift, and get 2 or 3 deliveries. If you ever notice, the same people usually don't work at that job a long time. The reason is that you just can't make a living long term doing it, unless you work certain days and hours, and happen to be in an area that tips well. Just as an interesting tid bit, one of the worst tipping neighborhoods in the county is Bentwater. $2 almost every time, regardless of the size of the order. We used to joke that they voted on it at the home own
  18. First, it doesn't apply to us. Federal facilities only. Second, if your neighbors jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Just because other people lower the flag, doesn't mean we have to. Third, Byrd served West Virginia well, and the people of that state should be very sad. However, his contribution to the country as a whole is a little underwhelming for a guy that spent 50 years in Washington. Fourth, stop seeing intentional slights and conspiracies. I watched the news the other day for a short while, and occasionally read the newspaper, and didn't see the presidents order for federa
  19. Unfortunately, the drivers don't get that delivery fee. At Dominos, they get a minimal fee for each delivery, that's much less than the delivery charge you pay, and does not come close to covering gas. The fee you are charged actually goes to pay for advertising. When I delivered, about 15-25% of people didn't tip. My average tip was around 3. But when the economy took a downturn, there were nights I'd average around 2, and one night where I got 6 deliverys, went 45 miles, and got $3. That's when I got out. My suggestion is that if you live within 2 miles of your store, tip at least 3. If
  20. We are moving as soon as we can find jobs anywhere else. There's just nothing here.
  21. and I've still got my free wings cards from winning trivia.
  22. My fever is still coming and going. And I started throwing up blood last night. I'm probably going back to the hospital.
  23. I don't have a cold, the ER doctor said it is flu like. It started with a migraine, then chills, then a really high fever (103), dizziness, and finally nausea. It's been going on since Saturday early morning, comes and goes, I break the fever, and 4 or 5 hours later it comes back. Unfortunately, it's still not seeming to go away.
  24. First, most kids do lie. Second, many parents will go after guys for doing their slightly underage daughters. Third, the state does toss kids in jail for having sex. If you don't believe it, you probably aren't living in the real world. The charges in the case I'm talking about stuck. The parents caught them, and they testified, and he was declared delinquent.
