  1. Having connections is a million times more important for military academies. And they value sports as highly as honors classes, so that's something to keep in mind. I was offered VMI, and got a few letters expressing interest about WP, but I wasn't interested in the military. One of my friends was though, and he had a 3.8 in IB classes, and didn't get any interest, due to his total lack of connections, and the fact that he had no real PE classes, or sport extracuricullars.
  2. No, didn't say that. What I said was that they could get it. Not that they necessarily would, because they might opt to take harder classes, or challenge themselves, and doing that could cause them to miss the "with honors" tag at a school that uses GPA to calculate it. Do all the schools in paulding use GPA to calculate whether a person is tagged as an honor student or not? I know Bartow county, when myself and my siblings went there, determined it by whether you graduated with 32 credits, not by your gpa. You could have a 1.0 gpa, be a D student, but since you passed them all, you'd be
  3. Update. I went out casting the other day in the pond in front of my parents house (they live in that subdivision where beef o'brady's used to be in cartersville, near dellinger) and got a 2 pound largemouth on a breadball in about 15 minutes. Didn't get anything after that, but it was pretty cool to get one that quick. Jessica and I are going to take our youngest out somewhere tomorrow, he seems to like looking at the fish, I'm still trying to decide where to go though.
  4. I saw a fox on the silver comet the other day. I was within about ten feet of it before it ran off.
  5. The problem is that "with honors" doesn't mean anything anymore. They've made it so that every kid can attain it, with the exception of a few with learning disabilities, very easily. It's not really an achievement anymore.
  6. Graduating "with honors" really doesn't mean much nowadays. Put a little star by the name on the bulletin if you want, but it's really not that big of a deal. At most schools, "with honors" means that you didn't manage to totally screw up and fail a class. However, if you do honors classes, especially PSO, you can sometimes not graduate with honors due to the credit conversion rate. The way high schools do all of those things makes no sense. At my high school, we very nearly had a tech prep valedictorian whose hardest class in all high school was geometry, and whose high grades were due t
  7. It was easy when I got mine. You just go up there, give them the info, and they hand over the license. They said we could go down the hall to get married, and bring it back, and be done in 20 mins if we wanted to.
  8. My dad may be able to borrow a boat, and I think he's gonna tag along if he can. I was thinking of either going for catfish or the gars, is there anything else around that gets to decent size and puts up enough of a fight for you to know it's there?
  9. Not less than 30 out. I know someone that works at a douglasville staffing agency, and they have things in Tallapoosa, and one place on Fulton, but that's too far for me, and the shift times aren't that good. The closest thing they ever get to here is douglasville, and that's always short term.
  10. The closest are in Cartersville, Kennesaw, Douglasville, or Lithia Springs. There are only half a dozen places in Paulding that would ever even have a need for temps, therefore there is no real need for a service out here. What kind of work are you looking for, and how far from Paulding are you willing to go?
  11. I heard that this Saturday and next Saturday are free fishing days, so you don't need a license. So I was thinking of heading out, since I haven't in years. Anyone know of good spots in the area? And is there anything worth catching in Allatoona? Preferably not tiny little fish. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere within an hour or so that had decent sized gar? I used to love catching those before I moved here.
  12. we do have a few dangerous ones around, you need to be careful. When I lived in Cartersville, I found a nice size one (like 4") in our yard once, I think it was probably a released pet.
  13. What kind of camera is it? If it's coax, it shouldn't be hard to move.
  14. It would depend on who it is. If it was just an acquaintance, I'd be pissed. If it was a close friend or relative, it would depend on whether they thought it was ok, and how bad of a situation it was.
  15. While I definetly agree with you, my divorce judge didn't see it the same way, and didn't give my ex any responsibility for the debt. She did get to keep all the stuff she bought with my credit cards though. At least half of the debt is in accounts I didn't even know about until my divorce proceedings started, because she opened accounts online in my name without my knowledge. However, since she knew my social, and I have no proof, I'm stuck holding the bag. I have a few relatives that are willing to help me pay the ones that are willing to negotiate, and then I'll have to pay them back as I c
  16. Does anyone know about any of these companies, like consumer credit? I am trying to settle some of my old debts from my divorce, and the people I've called at the companies I owe generally are rude and unhelpful. I'm trying to find someone to negotiate a settlement. Preferably a company that does not have large up front fees.
  17. Is my three year old too young? I'm sure his mother will never take him fishing, so I'd love to take him, since I've got him this weekend.
  18. Report it, and send the facebook conversations to the cops. The guy could end up seriously hurting the children, and if you don't report it, you'll always kick yourself for not doing it.
  19. sounds like what mine does. Sometimes the picture goes fuzzy during those times too.
  20. Some of my stuff randomly doesn't work. Also, I notice recently live TV has been cutting in and out for me, just over the last week or so.
  21. That is the best idea, if you have enough family and friends who can and will help.
  22. I called them for a quote once before, and they were way out of the price range of everyone else I called. I've found that no matter who you use, you have to stay on them. If you don't, they will take forever. The ones I used last time were from Cartersville, I think they were called something like Scott's Moving, and they ended up doubling the amount they quoted me originally, even though I left some stuff, and took a few loads myself. The problem was that they showed up with one less person than they said, and the owner/driver had bad knees, and didn't want to move heavy loads. Th
  23. That was part of my problem with the movie too. It wasn't really about Michael Oher, it was about how a group of white people saved him, when in reality there was a decent chance he would have made it in life regardless. He had the talent, and intelligence regardless of who he was around.
