  1. You could get a starter home in suburban Tempe, but you're well past your salad days.
  2. Hey now! You should be so lucky as to live in my family's lake house. There's a driving range in paulding county? I have no idea where it is y'all are talking about, but I didn't venture much outside of Hiram when I lived in Paulding.
  3. I'm kind of in agreement with you here. Home ownership is costly, more than a lot of people realize. You don't want to spend all your reserve cash to get into a house to find out that you have hidden expenses and then can't pay the house payment. We did zero down when we bought our first house. We had little savings, both had great jobs, but we were less than a year out of college. We maxed out our housing budget. When we moved in we had no money to spend on furnishing the house, doing the landscaping, we were basically working and paying a house payment and praying nothing went wrong. Luc
  4. I'll try to make a long story short, but my ex husband's family (mom and dad's side both) came from a small town in Mississippi. The mom's side were free drinking catholics, the dad's side were sober baptists. My husbands aunt on his mom's side had a fish camp down on some water, they had had it for years, then a cousin from the baptist side buys the lot next to my husbands aunt. Anyway the sober baptists get tired of the crazy partying catholics and they find out that part of the building where the aunts fish camp is built is actually on their property and they decide to take them to court. I
  5. Not completely sure, but isn't South Dakota where the jobs are booming? Might be North Dakota, due to the fracking they're doing up there. They can't get enough people up there to come in and work. People are moving up there so fast they can't build the infrastructure fast enough.
  6. Title searches are very important and I would never trust the government to do that work for me. And I'm not just saying that because I work for a title search company.
  7. Not sure, but my 175 lb husband takes 2 to go to sleep every night. Hope this helps.
  8. I don't think I've ever asked my husband to hold my purse.
  9. I would love to see her money affected by her idiotic comments the same way Paula Deen was affected by saying the N word 30 years ago.
  10. Must have been a full moon. The whole sheriffs department was down the road from us around 6 last night. They were in a standoff with a crazy man. This is down in Alabama though.
  11. I have not met anyone because of pcom, I have however met some pcommers. Rhonda was probably the first, and then LPPT, both before I was on pcom. Kim Cobb PCSB Post 3 was my guardian Angel one very scary night for me, and I will forever be grateful for her kindness. I didn't know until a long time after who she was when I met her, and was only able to find out who she was after joining pcom.
  12. This to me is a little more crossover than what they are calling a crossover now. It seems most of the crossovers now are just smaller SUV's rather than being lower to the ground. To me this seems to have the space of an SUV but the handling and ride of a car.
  13. There is a PSA running on the radio here for Social Security, making people aware of signing up on line and direct deposit. They have George Takei doing the commercial about how he set up his SS direct deposit on-line. My first reaction was to laugh at the fact that George Takei took income from SS. I know we all pay in, and we all take out, just seems like some could opt out their taking if they have made enough not to actually need it. Then I realized that was a pretty liberal way of thinking. But it was my first reaction.
  14. We were a little farther out. I grew up in Milford on the east side outside 275. We just went back up there in July after being gone for a long time. It was good to catch up with family, but I wouldn't want to move back.
  15. I have a friend who owns a cigar shop on Ono Island, but I'm guessing that's not kid friendly. Once you go Gulf you'll never go back. White sand beaches, warm clear water. LOVE it. We'll be heading down in September.
  16. I've never tested a house for Radon, seems like there were lots of jokes about it when I was growing up as a kid.
  17. Be careful, George Zimmerman says that kind of thinking can get you in a lot of trouble.
  18. Completely forgot my husbands best friend just got relocated over there to manage a golf course. They have 3 young kids, I'll ask his wife what she suggests.
  19. I grew up outside Cincinnati, I was in the protestant minority there. Most of my friends were Catholic and attended catholic school at some point.
  20. As long as I've lived in the south and Alabama I've never been to the Alabama beaches.
  21. A few weeks ago I posted about my explorer falling apart, and since my husband works for a used car dealership we started keeping an eye out for a car for that would meet our needs. 3 weeks ago we bought a 2006 Ford Freestyle SLE, not the base model, not top of the line, but it does have leather interior. For the life of me I can't figure out why this car wasn't a better seller. Yeah, it looks a little like a station wagon, but it sits higher than a car, lower than an SUV, seats 7, and still has cargo room. If you lay the third row flat it has as much cargo room as our explorer. I know the
  22. Probably not much, didn't look like it had central air. There was a wall unit in one room
  23. When I lived in Hiram I would always pick Kmart over Walmart if I just had to run in for a couple things. Since no one goes there it was a quicker trip. But it always seemed dirty and like the air didn't work well.
  24. How does this go unnoticed by other people? Thankfully my gas tank is on my passanger side, I'd think that would make me less of a target.
