  1. Their job is not to tell you all that. Their job is to tell you what the weather will be. And then you can decide what precautions you need to take. It's just a cherry on the top if they throw in information like don't stand near a tree during a storm. If my local weatherman doesn't tell me that and I stand by a tree can I sue him for not telling me I shouldn't have done that?
  2. There is no such thing as magic. There is showmanship and slight of hand. Nothing supernatural in any way.
  3. I think it's silly to chastise a weatherman for not warning the public about walking on thin ice. If he does it that's great, but if he doesn't then who gives a flip? He's a weatherman, it is not his duty to protect the ill informed.
  4. I've only been working from home for a little over a year. I don't feel like I'm missing out on the corporate rat race for the fact that I don't really work in a corporate environment. I miss human interaction, I see my husband and kids daily, but some days that's the only people I see daily. I am starting to go a little stir crazy and look for excuses to get out of the house. My work doesn't really allow for being done at Starbucks or any public place. I have to have dual monitors since I do a lot of work both on our remote server and on my desktop. I'd feel a little silly setting up my desk
  5. I am a parent, and I would know to tell my kids not to do it without needing a weatherman to remind me. And good to see that you would rather insult someone then have a discussion.
  6. Why do you need to be reminded not to try to walk on a frozen pond?

    Parents

Well, my oldest is a little over 3, and I still cut hers.
  8. The Barn This place in Dothan says on their commercial that they have your size guaranteed, so I would guess if they sell online you should be able to find jeans for any size there.
  9. The rule is 13 or older on facebook, but I thought I read something recently where they said they were going to allow younger with restricted account access...maybe I dreamed that. And not that I don't think raising money for cancer is a great thing to do, but what about heart disease? It kills more people than cancer. Just seems like maybe a good idea would be to have the kids raise money for a charity of their choice.
  10. I had a shower for my first daughter, my second daughter was born 17 months later and obviously a girl so I didn't have a shower for her. I think a shower for different genders or babies far apart in age, but really most of the big stuff should be gender neutral anyway if you plan on having multiple kids. Gender reveal party is a dumb new idea. There is no need to have a party to reveal what the gender is. If you want to do a gender reveal do it at the shower.
  11. You can say what you want to about Alabama fans, the lady was wrong, but so were the men who kept it going. I grew up in the midst of the Ohio State v. Michigan rivalry and there were as many drunk blue collar factory fans as there are drunk redneck Alabama fans. It's not a market we have cornered. But answer me this. How redneck and white trash can you be and still afford to be a Tide fan that attends games? I lost my season tickets back when I divorced my husband, but we paid $800 annual donation just for the privileged of purchasing home game tickets which we had to buy at face value.
  12. My first one started sleeping through the night around 4 months. We had to do a couple days of progressive CIO, let her cry for 3 minutes, 5, 8, never got past the 10 minute mark, and after two days she was good to go and still very rarely ever wakes up at night. She's down by 7:30 and up by 5:30. My second one didn't sleep through the night until she was about 18 months old. From the time she was about 5 months old she would regularly wake at least once sometimes twice a night. Before 5 months she slept through the night. From 5 months to 18 months I just gave her a bottle when she went d
  13. I don't doubt he's a stand up guy, I just didn't know what the laws were in regards to who could or could not own guns based on their immigration status. I didn't realize you could vote without being a citizen.
  14. Is your husband a legal citizen? And is it legal for someone who is not a citizen to own a gun? I'm not insinuating that your husband is not or that you're doing something illegal. I'm just curious what the laws are regarding that.
  15. I graduated from High School in a Cincinnati suburb in 1997, and I think I got a good foundation in History and Government classes. I didn't take AP, just the basic classes that were offered. We covered everything up to I would say the late 60's. In college I minored in History with an emphasis on pre-civil war southern history. I think I got a very in depth education in college. I am horrible about remembering exact dates, and I think it's a silly thing to put emphasis on. I prefer getting understanding of a time line of events and how they had an effect on other events.
  16. Academy is a chain like Dicks or Sports Authority. Should be one closer to you somewhere.
  17. I haven't read all the responses, is this the vacant lot across from the new hospital? Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.
  18. My daughters will NEVER have these dolls. I guess this is a perk of living out in the middle of nowhere. We don't have as much pressure to keep up with people dropping that kind of cash on dolls. Down here the real money on little girls is spent on pageants.
  19. I always wondered if it was really harder for the elderly to hold their gas, or if they had just gotten to the age where they didn't care.
  20. I'm only 34, but the most noted thing is loss of flexibility and joint pain and stiffness. I tried the other day, I can still do the splits, but it's not without a lot of stretching and effort beforehand. I used to just be able to do it no problem. Made me want to start daily stretching exercises.
  21. What gets me is that I was watching CBS morning show this morning and they are now saying that other inflamatory comments have come to light and showed a clip of Phil encouraging men to marry women when they are teens. They said he was advocating marrying young girls. This isn't new, it's a quote he says in his book. He says if you marry a woman in her 20's she'll pick your pocket, but if you marry when they're about 15 they'll pick your ducks. Somehow this is now being turned into a child bride issue.
  22. I think that power lines tend to do things to peoples minds and make them think they are experiencing things.
  23. Not sure if it will work, but in the past when I've had to message someone who is not my friend it will tell me the message will go to their "other" folder. If I want it to go to their main inbox then I need to pay like $1 or something. I've paid the $1 and it's gone through and allowed me to get in touch with the person.
  24. Considering I do at least one load a day I would say washing machine
