  1. I'm off Davis Mill, and it was pretty rough when I traveled home coming from Bill Carruth onto Hiram-Sudie. One thing I'd suggest for most folks is get you a set of winter wiper blades for your vehicle. I'd never heard of such a thing till I lived up north. What they are is rubber covered blades across the metal part of the wiper, so the ice and snow can't stick to it and turn your wipers into a giant block of ice. They are real common up north, but down here I have to order them (actually get mine from Amazon).
  2. Emory University has a museum that I think is about $5, with lots of egyptian artifacts and a few mummies. Its pretty cool to go see if you like that sorta thing. Also check out the Booth Western Museum in Cartersville, lots of artwork, real stagecoachs, etc.
  3. Think I'm coming down with this mess. Been pretty tired and with some stuffy nose/head/ears. Sore throat today and feel slightly feverish. Just got to make it through to the weekend then I'm off on vacation/holidays till Jan 4th.
  4. Yep! Actually seen her in concert twice in Atlanta.
  5. I have a wide range of likes as well, anything from Sarah Brightman, Alyson Krauss, to Slayer & Dio. Just depends on the mood I'm in. I will echo the fellow above about SRV. That PBS special where he plays that killer version of Texas Flood still sends chills down my spine.
  6. Same thing here as well. I usually park down from the pink house when I've gone squirrel hunting there.
  7. Lived up there for a bit over a year, love the hot dogs and deep dish pizzas. I do miss the snow sometimes, but not the constant blowing/shoveling of it.
  8. I live here and have no idea what you are talking about either. Could you PM me what happened ? The scanner was pretty active yesterday though.
  9. Scanner just had a call on a red truck at a residence that a neighbor was watching while the owners are out of town. I didn't catch the name of the s/d it was at. Neighbor said that nobody should be there.
  10. Yeah, believe so. They went to your house first, then neighbor between us. Didn't come here as I was glaring at them through the window watching them, then went next door to me, then across the street and down.
  11. The alarm folks are casing the neighborhood. Blue van with "Securewatch" on it trying to sell ADT monitoring is going door to door with two women.
  12. Did see the SO swing through our road before lunch. I've been busy hooking up the alarm system I bought but never installed fully so if others passed through I might not have seen them. Will tell you programming those alarms will drive you nutty.

  15. Yep, was nice to see him come through. Did notice a few of the neighbors are now armed as well.
  16. Did they hit the same house or another one next door ?
  17. My wife is pretty spooked by all this, we wondered what the police were doing out there Friday evening. TBH that's the only time I've seen police in the neighborhood is when they get called out for something, never just driving through on patrol.
  18. Sure won't stop external antennas like I have on my ham radio on my Jeep.
  19. Maybe they will decide to open one of my honeybee hives in the backyard and get a rude awakening. I've got two inside dogs that don't like outsiders as well as being happy to greet them with the end of my .40 Sig.
  20. Have to say I've been eating squirrel for years. I've always cooked it in the crock pot to let the meat fall off the bones, then you use it like you would chicken. It's great in a casserole, just takes about 10-12 squirrels to make a good meal. They have a long hunting season, and on the WMA's you won't run into alot of folks going after them. Paulding Forest is covered up with them.
  21. Wow, he did two ear surgeries (tympanoplasty) to patch small holes in my eardrum.
  22. I think Robotron 2024 and Centipede are still my favorites. You can get MAME (Multi Arcade Machine Emulator) free off the internet, and then either download or buy a set of the old video game ROMs on DVD, and it will play the game just like the arcade. Hook it up to a set of arcade control or put the whole setup in an arcade cabinet, and you have your own home arcade.
  23. Go check out localharvest.org and investigate CSA's (community supported agriculture). This year we went with Turtle Bend Farm, and for about $22/week we got a bag of fresh fruits/veggies from their garden. You do get a mix of things and it will force you to try some new things you may have never had, but it was well worth it. There is also the online Dallas Farmer's Market that has their pickups over at Elrod's. I'm sure you could contact Elrod's for a contact person for it. We've been mostly buying beef and pork from an organic farm that brings it there out of Cartersville. You pay a little
  24. Days are getting shorter as well as my hens are laying less. I closed up my beehives to where they have a smaller entrance/exit, and where I was seeing a good bit of them flying around gathering everything they could for the winter (mostly goldenrod), I've only seen just a few peeking their heads out.
  25. I'm next door to the fellow who just moved in who had the party, I have the blue boat in my driveway (that needs a bath). I was wondering what went on with the sheriff being out there while back - I was working on my wife's jeep and saw all the commotion. We weren't sure if it was the neighbor next to us on the right or the one next to you. Don't feel bad about the TP, I'm terrible about trimming my hedges. Still need to get out and clean up some of the debris where I did it about 2 weeks ago, and promptly threw my back out doing it. Did manage to put two apple trees in the ground this yea
