She knows her grandfather died early from cancer, he was in his 50's. His brothers died in their 30's & 40's, from cancer. she never knew them and i'm pretty sure she dosen't know how or when they died. This is all on her dads side, and because were aren't together, i'm not sure what he's told her. Basically and honestly, her family history scares me and I want her to make healthy choices, forever!

not to be a debbie downer, but i'm curious what others think. If your child has a strong history of people in their family that have died at a young age or suffered from cancer or any genetic disease, at what age do you think is appropriate to tell them? I wouldn't want to scare my kid, but I would want them to be aware so that they can be armed with the knowledge and possibly make better health/life choices. Thoughts? and when I say "kid" I mean teenager, I wouldn't tell my young child he/she has a family history of cancer.

I agree with all of the highlighted statements. Never in a million years would I allow anyone to hit my kids. I don't hit my kids. I was hit, didn't help me one bit.

Diets don't work. period. I've been working out 20 (sometimes more or less) minutes a day since october. I drink a homemade protein smoothie filed with frozen fruit, lowfat yougrt & low cal/sugar oj every morning. My lunch consists of a wheat wrap loaded with veggies, turkey & hot sauce, filling and yummy! I also consume less beer than I used to, it really puffs me up. I eat whatever I want for dinner and sweets maybe once a week. The less sweets you eat, the less you crave. And absolutely NO sodas! I've lost 20 lbs so far. My DD & I both got our black belts at Pil Sung Do Off of Marietta/Dallas Hwy, Next to badcock furniture. I can tell you that it feels awesome knowing that my daughter knows how to defend herself, and for me personally, it feels awesome that I know how to kick a$$. It's not cheap, but well worth it. Mr. Key is awesome.

Oh please, you are reading a little much into that statement. I get what she means, My parents were born & raised in upstate NY, they moved here in the 80's and I know they know eaxctly what the OP means. Heck, starting school in Powder springs in the 80's, I was the ONLY YANKEE in my grade and I definately felt like an alien. I can imagine living in ANY part of the country for 60 years & then moving to a completely different part of the country would leave anyone feeling a little out of the loop. It's an adjustment that has nothing to do with stereotypes.

My husband and I have had this discussion before, more than once. He definately complains about pain more then I do, defintely. I usually don't speak of my pain unless it's really bad.
