My dd got it at a birthday party in 1st grade. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! It took an entire day to go through her hair, strand by strand picking the little nits out. Her hair is EXTREMELY thick. I was so paranoid after that, I checked her hair everyday for years. Honest to god when I found out I was having a boy the second time around, one of my thoughts was that if he ever gets lice, all i'll have to do is shave his head! such a relief.

Sensitive indeed. I don't recall telling you or even insiuating your opinion was less worthy. You gave your opinion, I responded with mine. In fact, I specifically said "for me" twice, meaning my opinion. I certainly wasn't trying to ruffle your feathers. It's called a discussion and this site if full of them, and varying opinions.

I don't consider it a privilege to stay home with my child. I am his mother it's my job to raise him. As far as staying home being easier? Not for me. I've done both. Every situation is different but for me it was definitely easier to go to work. I understand what the lady on tv was trying to say. I don't take any offense. I know my job is hard as hell. Try staying home all day with a non verbal toddler, Yo'll pull some hairs out, no doubt.

It's PLENTY harsh for me. I find the plot to be very disturbing and have definately had nightmares since reading it. I find it extremely tense yet completely captivating. The author is very talented, I had never heard of her before.

I would definitely recommend reading the book before seeing the movie. jmo

I think you are wrong. IMO this has nothing to do with race. for some it does, for me it dosen't. Do I understand why black people are sensitive to this issue? hell yea I do. but thats not the point. Put yourself in the shoes of the parents of the dead teenager. Would you have been ok with your unarmed child being shot by a neighborhood watchman who "thought" your son was up to no good? would you have been ok with no investigation and no charges? not me.
