I agree with feelip -- Shore, cut, jack and splice Decide if you want to use steel poles or 6x6 pressure treated posts and then use a car jack to bring the joists back up a little above level and custom cut the length for each pole you want to install next to the jack position. Last week, publix seven hills had a certain expensive light bulb that rang up almost $5 more than the shelf tag. I went to customer service and the manager gave it to me free (store policy). I checked again yesterday, and it was still priced wrong --- i got 2 free this time. I will check again in a few days and maybe go for 3.
