  1. I agree with feelip -- Shore, cut, jack and splice Decide if you want to use steel poles or 6x6 pressure treated posts and then use a car jack to bring the joists back up a little above level and custom cut the length for each pole you want to install next to the jack position. The floor will settle back down to level after putting furniture weight, etc back in the room above
  2. when i need parts for a newer vehicle, i usually find it at either : Salvage Hunter in Powder Springs -- near East/West connector Richards Auto Salvage in Powder Springs --- near Thornton Road & Brownsville Rd Austin's Salvage Yard in Douglasville --- bankhead and Hwy5
  3. Individuals that cheat and deceive were the exception in society, back 20+ years ago. In this day, the average person will cheat on the minor stuff as long as they can get away with it. Whether it is teacher scandals, or air force personnel working in missile silos, simple online searches can find examples of deception even in those in positions of trust. Beyond individuals, even corporations that were supposedly "ethical" have gotten in the game of cheating and deception in order to inflate the bottom line. Originally, a person had to be on their toes around a used car dealer. Now, it i
  4. I posted an issue i had with their front desk admin about 2 years ago and it was promptly shut down by the moderators. So, good luck getting an opinion that is not rosy. However, i never got to see the doctor, so i cannot give you an opinion as far as the medical care. As far as i am concerned the issue was not resolved, and there was no reply to the certified letter. I ended up going to Phys Immediate Med up 278 from there (Dr Catherine Martin)
  5. I remember reading something about how a superior court judge can sign off on your passport application if you lack the needed documents. Of course, once you get a valid passport, then you can then easily get a georgia driver license.
  6. I have personally seen a couple of guys lose their jobs and then suddenly come back to work under similar circumstances. One is a state employee at the local college and the other is still at lockheed. In both cases, there was not a policy in place to prohibit what they look at on company computers. Now, employees at most all companies must sign a computer "acceptable use" agreement acknowledging they could be terminated for using the computer for non business purposes. With that mentality, a person could do whatever they want at work as long as it's not illegal or specifically prohi
  7. Why update? Unless you have a tablet with a touch screen, XP is stable and even the newest software will still run on it.
  8. Where do they apply? Their website has a cashier job in Hiram, but that is all for the local jobs. There is not even a listing for a Douglasville store on their hiring website.
  9. dairy queen in douglasville -- sign in window dunkin doughnuts in douglasville -- sign inside on counter kroger on hwy5 douglasville -- sign at front door
  10. The last time i took the kids to a wellstar pediatrics office, they had a similar survey for the parents. It was some statistical analysis that was from the psychology dept at georgia state university in reference to a government grant, etc. They were open about it and answered my questions. I also found out that there were only a couple of the questions that important to the study out of the 20 or so, the rest of them were just fluff. Some pre-k programs are doing similar surveys. Chattahoochee Tech (when they had their pre-k program)did alot of those surveys and were following up with
  11. No, the county line has not moved. It has always been there. I have been telling people this for years ---- all 4 sides of that stop sign (now a traffic light) are in douglas county. Paulding deputies have written tickets for that stop sign since the 1980s and drivers always plead guilty and automatically paid the fines..... If you use google map of paulding county, and then zoom in to that area, you will see the county line cuts through the goat farmers property and goes up near the cemetary and then crosses sweetwater church road past the church building
  12. Last week, publix seven hills had a certain expensive light bulb that rang up almost $5 more than the shelf tag. I went to customer service and the manager gave it to me free (store policy). I checked again yesterday, and it was still priced wrong --- i got 2 free this time. I will check again in a few days and maybe go for 3. If two different managers were made aware of the problem and still do nothing to correct it.....
  13. Since law enforcement will not release the number of arrests and citations issue from these "safety checks", how do you know it is such a good thing? If you were walking at the park on say, the 4th of july amongst the crowd, and you were randomly stopped and asked to show your license and asked if they could search you, would you feel different about it then?
  14. Ingles almost always has egg boxes / crates near the front door. At publix, you have to ask.
  15. I save some $$ and get all my filters online at rockauto and order about a years worth of air filters, cabin air filters, & oil filters for the 3 family vehicles, so the discount prices offset the $8 shipping. They are still not charging sales tax either (as of last week)
  16. in case it has not been mentioned yet....... paulding schools will be out 2 hours early today
  17. yes, any person that does not already have a BOE badge, & wants to go past the check point at the front office will have to check-in and get a visitor badge created on the system on the earlier link: http://www.keepntrack.com/ it states exactly, "criminal background checks" Yes, the paulding county BOE pdf flyer says "this is not a criminal background check" ------ but the company web site says exactly the opposite, "criminal background checks" so, which do you believe? http://www.keepntrack.com/ Of course, if you were to have a bench warrant for not paying a

  19. Been going on for years, but the hush hush side of this --- law enforcement have been solving many crimes by geotags on pics these past few years http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/facebook-and-twitter-to-catch-crims/story-e6frg143-1226213004696 http://consumerist.com/2010/08/07/iphones-help-cops-solve-crimes-by-capturing-everything-you-type-do/ http://gcn.com/blogs/pulse/2012/12/fugitive-mcafee-exposed-by-basic-geotagging.aspx

  21. if it has to be south dakota, then make it rapid city, it is close enough to the tri-state area (wyoming & montana) but, i think you both would like the west side of wyoming and southern montana better -- maybe bozeman or even over into idaho falls, they are quiet, small cities, but can be easily rural and still have enough regular stuff to do that is not to far away, like a mall, a decent theater, and the winters are not as bad (ok, maybe they have a week less winter) it really depends on if you are more into the plains and flat-lands of the eastern side of the dakotas or closer t
  22. Unfortunately, most companies want a 30 day minimum for a rental contract. If you want one a for a few days, there are those unscrupulous folks that would buy one with a credit card and then return it later....
  23. so, you are saying that a used OEM factory windshield is not as good as a new cheap chinese knock off ? (which are the majority (if not all) that you install?
  24. if you don't like me correcting you all the time, then quit making incorrect statements such as "it is illegal to drive with a cracked windshield" the fact is you can drive with a cracked windshield, unless it meets the other exceptions to the law, such as in the driver's view (which the O.P. says is not the case). I agree, but i guess what i was trying to get across was --- you could have a single crack line 3 feet long and it is still legal as long as it does not obstruct the driver's view. The windshield law addresses spider webbing and star bursts, not a single-line cra
