  1. Not to mention all the top dog coke heads.....that many people view as "successful". Including lawmakers, CEO's, doctors, etc. I think its wrong to compare careers to addictions.
  2. I dont see it as being a non-conformist. How do laws get changed? Because people educate themselves, and change the laws. If people didnt question things, nothing would ever change. Its your right as a citizen to question your government and fight for what you believe in. Its still "We the People", right?
  3. I believe in being honest with my children because I have seen first hand from my group of friends in high school that the children that were sheltered, and not educated did much worse when they were finally "freed" at age 18. I see no problem discussing the pros and cons of alcohol and marijauna, and comparing the two. I dont want my children to drink soda, but will explain that I think diet or "zero" is the lesser of 2 evils. If I was forced to choose a vice for my children, it would be marijauna, hands down. I do think it is much safer than alcohol, Rx drugs, or anything else. I fully su
  4. Someone who drinks and drives for the very first time, and ends up killing someone...showed a lapse in judgement too. It doesnt mean they should not pay for their crime. Its even worse that she was fully sober and aware, and still made bad decisions, IMO.
  5. Thanks. I'm sorry for you loss as well. It is very difficult. I'm definatley not holding my breath on the justice system. Nothing can bring him back. I can see how a family would want the book thrown at someone who is so cold and heartless though.
  6. Thank you. This is pretty much the page that I'm on. I think life terms should be reserved for people who are violent offenders, and at risk to kill others. I would think that Ms. Michael doesnt fall under that category. You're right though. She should have time to think about the value of human life, and the fact that she had no regard for it.
  7. Thank you. I have been mulling this subject over for 2 weeks now. I know I could very well have been a driver that killed someone in my lifetime. Its not so much that she was the driver, anyone in that car could have been the driver. I'm trying to control my anger towards her, and know that God will deal with her lack of remorse. There is no court system that will bring him back, and no court system that will convict her for being so heartless after the fact. That part will be answered to God. So, in the Aimee Michael case, she will answer one day too. Its the lack of carin
  8. I know people dont INTEND to go out and kill people in car accidents. But, if their actions caused death, there needs to be consequences. With our recent loss, the lack of remorse is far worse than her original actions that caused the death of our beloved son. I have had friends on both sides of car accidents. The driver, and the victim. To me, the actions after the tragedy speak volumes.
  9. I completely understand, but I havnt killed anyone. If I was to be the cause of an accident that took lives, it would have been the end of my life as I know it. I would show remorse. I would take the punishment for my actions. There are consequences for actions, and as sad as it is, I dont care if she was signed up for college, or if her parents were the Presidents of the United States. Doesnt matter to me who she is, or what her goals were. Her actions took lives, she showed no remorse, and still doesnt.
  10. Filed an application FOUR DAYS AFTER the crash??If I had just killed someone, no less multiple people, I would NOT be applying for school. Its okay though, GOD knows her lack of remorse, which is worse than the "accident" itself.
  11. Unfortunately, we dont have laws against lack of remorse. My step son was killed 2 weeks ago today in a car wreck, and still no apology from the driver. In fact, she has done the opposite. Online comments such as "make all the comments you want, nobody is going to bring me down, accidents happen". It was NOT an accident for her to be driving 80mph in a 40mph zone. I dont care what anyone says, if you are driving the way you are supposed to, and paying attention...accidents DONT HAPPEN!!! If she is going to be a drain on the system anyway, lock her up and let her at least be a
  12. I have been paid late, numerous times. I have had my benefits discontinued. I have not had a raise, or asked for one in over 3 years. It makes it easier to swallow when you know the owner is sweating blood trying to figure it out. Sometimes it takes times like these to see costs that are not necessary, or to implement a better collection strategy (if possible). If I walked out on my job because of late payment, I would be among the unemployed, earning FAR LESS than I do now. and what guarantee do I have that my next job wont crumble? None. I would rather be part of the s
  13. Has anyone ever been to this or sent their children? I spoke to a lady yesterday that sent her son, and highly recommends it. If they go to Georgetown, they stay in the dorms for a month, and get taught by college professors about US Government, and leadership. They will go to the White House, and meet politicians. My children are a few years off, but I'm thinking about saving for it. JSA website
  14. Oh! I want to take the kids! We missed it last year, and I really kicked myself for it.
  15. Very good point! And dont get me started on bras!! Whose idea was that, anyway??? The laundry does severe damamge to bras. We do a load every day. Its my 12 year old sons job, and he does quite well.
  16. So, you sell sex toys too?
  17. I just bought my first iron...and I'm 32. Seriously. A long time ago, my boyfriend and I were really broke. We had $20 left until payday. He was riding to the mall with his friend while I was at work. I told him, please dont spend the money, thats all we have. So, when I get home, he was all excited. He said he spent all the money, but got me a surprise. It was a freaking IRON!! I was 19 years old...and SO MAD!!! I said I dont need an iron, blah, blah, blah!! He won it at the arcade. I ended up giving it to my Mom. I only had to wear business clothes when I traveled, or when customer
  18. I am passionate about my job. My worst days are when it is very slow and uneventful. I like to be busy, and feel as though I have accomplished something at the end of the day. My mom says I thrive on chaos, but I just like to get things done. I used to let my job consume my entire life, and have toned it down quite a lot. It still consumes a lot of my mind, but my family isnt as impacted by it as they used to be. If I have the right person, I could talk about it forever.
  19. I think the OP was talking about the posts being the oldest ones first. Not the topics, or threads. For instance, you open a topic, post to it, then the new post appears at the bottom. I can see how it would be aggravating in the Grab Bags topic, but in the regular topics, it should remain in this order. I normally read from top to bottom, not from bottom to top. I dont want to open a topic, and see the last post, I want to start from the beginning and find out how and why it got to where it is!
  20. Congrats!! On the quitting smoking...and all the fun in Savannah! Same here. I've been trying to keep my distance from people....and computers.
  21. Some days I don't even think that would be enough in my house and I only have 2 kids!
  22. I wash everything after wearing it. Except for jackets/coats, I wash as needed. I shower twice a day too. Maybe OCD? Maybe when I dont smoke this will change?!?!?!?
  23. LOL! No preggo here.....I dont think! Although, last time I quit when I was pregnant...I was so sick!!! If someone smoked outside, then walked in my house, I would gag. Its really funny because my nerves arent really bothering me like it has in the past when I've tried to quit. I will get a little antsy, do some cleaning, then need a nap. And repeat..all weekend! Thanks for your support! I remember being so tired when I was pregnant, too. I think it got better, further along. You get that nesting thing going on, and will clean, and organize like a crazy lady!!!
