  1. If it's like child support or divorce, they do want money up front.
  2. You might even ask how much all of it would be if you paid out of pocket, cash at the time of service and didn't file insurance. I'm doing that with knee injections and they are cheaper for me than if I filed my insurance. With insurance, it's just a few dollars shy of $900 for the medication and then whatever I have to pay toward the office visit ($60 is the co-pay and I might have to pay more than that). I'm not saving a tremendous amount, less than $200 but every little bit saved helps.
  3. Lawyers cost money. Maybe she didn't have it to spend. I'm not defending her. I, too, believe she is trying to get money.
  4. Unless I'm mistaken they don't do them in the ER. Only place I know of that does them is an outpatient facility. In the old days, they were done in the OR. Hubby had his at the outpatient surgery center on the East West Connector. I think that is where my cousin had hers done, too. Or most of them. Aren't deductibles confusing?? Another thought, does your deductible carry over to next year? I know in years past, if you had not met your deductible by fourth quarter, any charges in the fourth quarter would go toward the next year's deductible. When I had a hysterectomy, I met my
  5. I don't think I know your ex-BIL to be. I have known a few guys who could charm a snake. Then again, it would have been professional courtesy to be nice to another snake. Yep, mental abuse CAN be as bad as physical abuse. I have a friend who was mentally abused for years yet to my knowledge her ex never laid a hand on her. A real charmer when he wanted to be, too. No, it's not always that the woman doesn't want to have anything to do with the kids. Sometimes they are not allowed to if the father has the kids.
  6. It might not be what you would think either. Could have been any reason--she might be physically, emotionally or financially unable to care for the child or children and the father be in a much better position to do it. She might have TRIED to get custody and been denied. She may have been prevented from seeing her child or children by either the child's father or stepmother. It really irritates me when people ASSUME that a mother is useless because she hasn't seen her children or doesn't have custody. She may have wanted to have them and may have wanted to see them. Somehow when fa
  7. My hand is bad about doing that, too. Even a bump on it can cause what you've got, on me. JTH gave excellent advice.
  8. Are you sure increasing the funding and adding more caseworkers is the job of the governor? Can't he just *suggest* all of that? Or ask for it? FYI, Sonny Perdue was a huge supporter of children's issues. And another FYI, in 2002 Perdue had a landslide victory over incumbent Roy Barnes. Since Perdue was elected in 2002 and was the first Republican governor since Reconstruction and it's been 12 years that the state has had a Republican governor, I'm guessing this is already 2014.
  9. Contact CASA. I'm sure they could use the help. They advocate for children.
  10. Metro Garage Doors. They are in Winston.
  11. That my daughter, son in law and two granddaughters move closer to us. I'd like right around the corner, literally, but I'll take an hour and a half away as opposed to the current five and a half hours away.
  12. If you're looking for something to help the pain short term, I highly recommend meloxicam. I was given it for my knee, shoulder and hand/wrist pain. Within HOURS the pain had gone from about an 8 to a 3 or 4. Not gone away by any means but taken down to a very tolerable level. It is a prescription, BTW. But cheap.
  13. Yeah, you will know about the disk after the MRI. Likely it is the source of the pain.
  14. Well yes and no. The MRI is to see if something is going on but it can't always locate the source of the pain. For instance, the MRI showed my husband has spinal stenosis along with several other conditions. But it didn't show where the pain actually came from. His pain comes from inside the spinal canal, not the facet joints and not the disks. That's why he got no benefit from the injections and the test procedure to burn the nerves did nothing. His is not nerve pain. Sciatica IS nerve pain. But I agree with Tuscany Trailer. Try chiropractic. I have piriformis syndrome, which
  15. One thing doctors often fail to tell their patients is that these shots only work on certain conditions. They work well for some conditions, some for others and none for others. Often the source of the pain is not located prior to the pain. WHERE the pain is felt is but where it is coming from may not be. My husband got no pain relief from any of the three types of injections he had. But none of the three treat pain coming from where his is coming from. The injections actually helped isolate the source.
  16. I never had a problem with Medrol but never took it but once or twice. Hubby only took it that one time and couldn't believe he put the ice cream in the kitchen cabinet. He really thought it was the fridge. And no, he wasn't drinking and hadn't taken any pain pills. It was the strangest thing. Try ice packs. My mom swore by them. She had spinal stenosis and the ice was the only thing that would give her relief. I use ice on my knee from time to time and it does help. A massage might help you, too. Doc won't be able to call in anything really strong, pain pill wise but a mu
  17. Hubby had that done. He was a bit sore afterwards but the shot itself wasn't bad. He's had several different things--epidural, medial branch block and something else the name of which I forget. None of them really bothered him at the time he got them, just some soreness afterwards like you would have from a flu shot or something similar. Medrol makes you mean? It makes my husband forgetful. Like putting the ice cream in the cabinet forgetful. Hope you get feeling better! Back pain is awful.
  18. can't you pay a little extra at VP and get cards without logos? I know you can the business cards.
  19. Hey, how about that? That's the same thing I use mine for!
  20. My husband will, and can, fix anything. It's that he likes to fish.
  21. I LOVED them. When I started my business I had little money to spend and they fit my budget. I was able to get most things to coordinate, too. My pens, key chains, brochures and t-shirts matched, while my business cards and sign matched. I think I got everything in days and for under $30!! I had everything ready to do a reorder when we decided we weren't going to give up on moving. Should I decide to start a business again, I'll order from them again IN A HEARTBEAT. Hubby wanted a special type of business card and VistaPrint didn't do that type of card, so he went to a print s
  22. So happy for you!!!! Leave it to people like us to have normal abnormalities.
