  1. Never figured out why he went to the doctor because apparently he KNEW the arm was broken. He didn't seem to be in a lot of pain, though. Yeah, last year hubby had to go to the ER. I went home and took a shower because there were just too many people in there sneezing and sniffling. Oddly enough I didn't see any stab wounds, gunshot wounds or cuts that were bleeding badly. Just people coughing, sneezing and sniffling.
  2. Good idea. Best friend and I used to drive by the Smyrna PD pretty often on our "round". We would always say "look innocent" and then crack up.
  3. I guess the Pres_ent has kept his promise that uninsured Americans will be insured. I kinda thought I might be one of them but apparently I don't meet the criteria of having a wagging tail and four legs. Oh, and I didn't vote for BHO. stradial, are you staying out of trouble or just doing a good job of looking innocent?
  4. NOBODY would stop me from attending anything for my grandchildren. I have attended a number of school functions with my wife-in-law (husband's ex). The first one was awkward but after that, we agreed that the kids came first. And we did talk a good bit by the time she passed away. She realized that I wasn't in the picture until after their divorce and that I was trying to be a good mom to her kids.
  5. NOW I remember why I liked it when they moved my office to the very back of the office suite! I got so tired of "The Farmer Says". Once it's cute, for 8 hours a day, it isn't. MrsDavidJ, you will appreciate this. A couple of weeks ago I was in the orthopaedist office for an injection in my knee. A young man walks in WITH AN EMERGENCY! He had broken his arm. And he went to the doctor's office, without an appointment, instead of the hospital a mile away. No way he could have known in advance if they even had a doctor in the office at the time (several different specialties shar
  6. Your ex-husband's girlfriend should have no bearing on your relationship with your daughter. But like Captain Rhett said, she could somehow turn your daughter against you OR make your daughter feel like she has to choose between the two of you. If she took your husband from you, just feel like you got the better end of the deal and move on. If she did take him, figure that's the best revenge there is. She now has to put up with him. Yes, learn to tolerate her. You don't hurt HER when you don't make nice with her. You hurt you. It's time to let go of the past and move on.
  7. Why would anyone with half a brain think racism is over? It's been around since Biblical times, it's in all cultures and countries, and all races (yes, there are more than two) "practice" it. It's not going away anytime soon. To believe it is "over" is as informed and intelligent as believing the healthcare.gov website is a rip-roaring success.
  8. I broke one of the knobs on mine a couple of months ago. Happiest day of my life.
  9. Deduction for certain expenses of elementary and secondary school teachers. The $250 tax deduction for teachers and other school professionals for expenses paid or incurred for educator materials. This was extended through 2014 FYI, the educator credit is on the draft version of the 2013 1040.
  10. You say that like there is NEVER any propaganda from the left.
  11. Who won't darken the doors of a retail establishment unless it is a grocery store between now and New Years Day? I might be the only one.
  12. We have some beautiful reds and golds. The maples and sweet gums are beautiful though most of the leaves are gone now. The cypress are changing colors and are a rust color. The cotton was beautiful a couple of weeks ago with the fields looking like a snowy plain. The attached picture was taken on November 20th.
  13. I would think even the Austell PD would do better than shoot each other.
  14. Our temperatures here are a lot like there except if it's cold here, it's only for a day or two and then it warms up nicely. Our record high isn't as high as Powder Springs record high, nor is our low anything near the record low there. All in all, it's very similar to there. It rained all summer, just like up there. Usually whatever happens up there happens here about 6-12 hours later. If it rains there, we get it later. If the temperatures drop, we get it later. Only thing is if tropical storms or hurricanes come up through the Gulf, we get them FIRST. Y'all are welcome!
  15. There is a delete button but you have to be quick. I think you may have a minute to delete a post. What I was asking was knowing how SWAT teams are trained, how officers who make the kind of busts that we're talking about are trained, would it make sense that they would end up shooting each other?
  16. So does it make sense that trained, seasoned officers would have shot each other?
  17. Well, tomorrow I'll have out the flannel shirt. But at least I'm not expecting to EVER need a parka.
  18. I know this is stating the obvious and I don't mean this to be rude but you need a better class of employer. If you were working at this place through a temp agency, there might be a reason they use a temp agency. Like they can't keep an employee! Hope you get something soon. But if you look on the bright side, while money might be a bit tight for a while, it might be the best thing for you not to work right now. Hang in there. Keep plugging along and something RIGHT will come along.
  19. Tess, come down here if that cold is too much for you. We will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s all week. We have pretty cool nights (tomorrow night it is supposed to get down to 31 but the rest of the time, upper 30s and mid to upper 40s for lows). Great days, though. When we went out yesterday, I wore jeans and a tank top. It was warm and muggy.
  20. Don't let potential employers know about your current health.
  21. Oh gosh, yeah. Me too. I went out on Black Friday one year. Swore I'd never do it again. So far, I've kept that promise to myself all these 37 years.
