Georgia man stands ground, result 72 yr old vet with Alzheimer's dead

Crime is down by over 5 %, too. Isn't that the whole premise of "stand your ground"? You don't have to retreat. -
If your body isn't a match for an organ, it doesn't matter how much money you have. Fixed it for you.

I would think 99.99999999% of the people reading this are the same way. They have been in fear for their life but have not killed, or shot, anyone. And likely would not have shot anyone anyway. -
That's true. However, if you apply for group health or life insurance, they cannot use your genetic status against you. Much like the new health insurance not being able to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. But currently it only applies to GROUP PLANS AND NOT INDIVIDUAL PLANS. See, that's the funny thing about most genetic conditions. Just knowing you have the gene for something is no guarantee that you'll develop the disease. In fact, knowing that you have the gene could prevent you from developing it by being proactive.

Louis Herskowitz on Mulkey Road next to Cobb Hospital. Great guy. Knows his stuff. And dermatology is considered primary care now so it does not need a referral.

I totally agree. Well, that and to use the second FB account.

Check with the SSA about whether or not they have processed the change. If you have proof that you worked, like paystubs, check with the DOL about what to do. Not reporting it might get them a slap on the wrist fine and a higher unemployment insurance rate but that's about it. Illegal? Questionably. I knew an employer who had everyone working for them classified as subcontractors. They withheld no taxes, paid no taxes. Fired an "employee" who knew what was going on. She went and immediately filed for unemployment. Employer from that point forward, for about two years, had a

firearm safety rule: don't put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to shoot. Idiot. The gun "went off" because he pulled the freakin' trigger! -
I have a cousin who was born with a heart defect. By some miracle, the grace of God and the doctors at Egleston, she managed to grow up relatively healthy except for the heart and her liver which had been poisoned by all the drugs she took as a child so she could live. About 15 years ago she received a heart transplant. Within days, she had to receive another one because the first one wasn't the right size. Now, she is doing well, off the liver transplant list, employed and a total blessing to the family. She was 40 this past May. It wasn't expected when she was born that she would see 4

Sounds like they didn't report it. Could be the name change but information should have been based on your Social Security number, not the name. When the DOL-4 is completed, it asks for SS#, last name, first initial and wages during the quarter. I'd check with the DOL to ask if it could be the name change. If you haven't changed your Social Security account yet, you'll need to do that ASAP since tax returns will need to be done soon AND all names should match. Just be aware that fourth quarter 2013 hasn't been filed yet and third quarter 2013 may not have been processed yet.

When did you start the job? When were you let go? The base period may be July 2012 to June 2013. Georgia would say you made nothing during that time because nothing was reported by the employer. So, who paid you? And how did they pay you?

It seems that what the FDA wants to regulate against is the freedom of the individual to know their genetic make up for a reasonable cost. The current target of the FDA is a company called 23andme which offers a $99 DNA test. I had a DNA test for hemochromatosis in 2005. I received this one free, as I was a test subject. The company doing the test had just started offering them and needed evaluations done as to the entire customer experience. In exchange for feedback, they provided the test and the results for free (at that time it cost around $500 to have the test done) . I had ano

1 in 17 Floridians had concealed carry permits prior to July 2012. At that time, the state reduced the cost of getting the permit. It's now $112. Plus the cost of the safety course, which ranges from free to near $200, depending on where you take the course. Florida's crime rate has dropped dramatically for the first nine months of 2013. Coincidence? BTW, according to statistics 499 people have been killed by permit holders between May 2007 and November 2012, including 14 law enforcement officers, 23 people killed during mass shootings and 35 incidents of murder-suicide. htt -
The thing the average citizen doesn't realize about most, if not all, genetic "defects" is just because you have the genes, does not mean you will have the condition. It means you're a higher risk than someone who does not have the genes for the condition. Organ transplants should be based first on match. If the organ isn't a match for the recipient, it doesn't matter what the need is. Overall CURRENT health should be next on the list. Outcome needs to be considered. Will the organ be useful to the person and are they compliant with follow up. IOW, if someone is on the liver transpla

You made the right call. Had she just been sick, it would have been different. Considering she failed the field sobriety test, you did exactly as someone should. I've called in suspected drunk drivers before. You feel bad about it, but you never know by what you saved a life, or four, by doing so. -

I know you have to be in the drivers seat. And the car has to be running. But if she was passed out, and had been sick, it might be difficult to prove DUI. Just sayin'. But good thing she didn't leave. I wish I could remember what the cop told us. I remember he said you had to be in the drivers seat and the car had to be running. It's been a long, long time. Our friend actually could have been charged with DUI had his car been running. And he hadn't even been the one driving! That was the funny thing. I guess that was one time having an argument with your wife and her leaving you -

That's what I was thinking. DUI requires (or at least it used to require) the vehicle be running and the person intoxicated behind the wheel. At least that is how it was explained to me and my hubby. By a cop. -

Principal Bans Mother From Daughter's School

I have a friend on FB whose profile picture is her with a very large revolver. Can't tell but I'd say a .357 just based on what she has said they (she and her husband) own. I double dog dare anyone to say she has mental problems. Raising two grandkids, got a college degree so she could wrangle with the legal system in regard to her granddaughter, retired school bus driver. Nope. Not mental. One of the sanest people I've ever met (and I still like her). I posted pictures of my Sig P250 when I got it. OK,, bad example. And you better believe, when I get my permit, I'll post picture -
