The customer's copy was probably run when the order was placed. The merchant's copy was run when the bill was paid. That would be the actual amount of the charge. And a lot of the time, the wrong copy will be kept by the customer. I can't tell you how many times I got home and saw I had the one that said "merchant copy". IMO, if the customer produced a credit card statement showing the charge, what the server said wouldn't hold water. -
I seem to recall someone posting a couple of weeks ago about a server in New Jersey claiming she got a hateful note on a receipt and no tip, alledgedly because she is gay. Well, here is the rest of the story. http://news.yahoo.co...-144714897.html When Dayna Morales, a restaurant server in New Jersey and former U.S. Marine, claimed a family wrote her a hateful note on a receipt, outrage ensued. "I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life," read the note. Morales, who is gay, posted a photo of the receipt on Facebook. Mor

Been a while since I told of patients in our office

As a matter of fact, many people with insurance do use the ER as their personal doctor. Last year when my hubby went to the ER, I sat there and watched the people pull out their insurance cards to have ready when they were called back to do their paperwork. I guessed that most were Medicaid patients but that was just a guess on my part. And they obviously didn't vote Democrat because they were happy to produce a photo ID. Often the ER co-pay is less than an office co-pay. Mine is, not for primary care but for specialist. I have family members who use the ER as their primary care. N -

We had one who would actually drop by to see if we wanted anything--donuts, Big Macs, Dairy Queen shakes, whatever we wanted. He was so appreciative of the care we gave him that anytime he was in the area he would come by. Sometimes he would bring donuts without asking first. One time he came by to see if we wanted anything and since we were not busy, they sent me with him to get what we wanted. We all adored that man and not just for the food he brought. He was a compliant patient, too. That's more important than anything you can buy for the staff. -
Y'all want to hear something funny? I walked into Winn Dixie, here in the Florida panhandle today, and there were so many people in there I could have sworn someone uttered the words "possible snow". And some of the shelves were empty and a lot of them were low. Bread was low and some types of bread were gone. Milk was in low supply. And where the heck did the mushrooms go? I looked everywhere for them and there wasn't a single package, not even portabellos. They ALWAYS have portabellos.

The weather forecast is for snow as far south as Hattiesburg, MS. We are supposed to have rain and a low of 37. Rethinking this Florida panhandle move. Maybe it's not far enough south. I wanted to NEVER again see snow except on a Christmas card or calendar.

Who would pay $100 for an emmissions inspection and why?
Mama Carol replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My husband was told by someone who does emission inspections that the best way to pass it was to make the tank of gas before the test high test gas and then drive for about a half hour immediately prior to the test. Must have worked. Our 1990 Nissan truck never failed inspection. We did that high test gas and drive every year. -
No, because the victims don't look like his son should he have one. I still say that a few of the victims pull out their legally concealed 9 mms or 357s and fight back, this game would be over. These cowards doing this don't want a victim to fight back. Once they get one, they probably would decide to stop.

I agree with the thinking he was saving money by going straight to the ortho. That didn't dawn on me at first. But the idea that someone went to the doctor's office with an emergency, not knowing if there was a doctor there, and when they very likely had to pass the hospital to get there was just a little bold. The doctor's office and hospital are on the same street, same side of the road even, about 3/4 of a mile apart. See, if more people thought about going to one particular doctor would save them money over going to the ER and then to a doctor and then perhaps being sent to anothe -

I was trying to be nice to Pubby. But yeah, it is a natural assumption. -

In the days before Paulding had to have the inspections done but Cobb did, we had all our vehicles registered at our place of business. Well, they were there more than they were at home. -

Office managers have my utmost respect. They catch crap from everyone. I've worked with some pretty good ones, too. I worked in orthopaedics, family practice and then a short stint in a testing facility for various doctors. Thank goodness we didn't have head lice come through the door. -

Can't speak for the offices now, but we loved for people to do that! -

Some of the things people who work in doctors office could tell you would curl your hair without the benefit of a hairdresser. -
I'm really glad you went!! My philosophy is tell me the truth because the lies don't help me none. I try to put myself in other people's place when I give them advice, too. And Lord knows I've had plenty of experience dealing with idiots, many of whom share my last name.

The frozen shells are the kind I use when I make pecan pies, about the only kind I bake now. I take them out of the freezer when I get ready to fill them. No thawing at all. Just fill and pop in the oven. I do generally cover the edges with little strips of aluminum foil to prevent them from burning.

Ah, to be back in the medical office again. Not sure there is enough money in the entire world. -

The PARENTS of the bratty kids were worse for me. One almost got me fired. -
That's the key. Everyone needs to act like the adults they are and not like kindergarten kids on a playground. And heaven forbid you act like guests on Jerry Springer who fight over a POS that is lucky to have anyone. Hey, been there, done that. Large family with complicated relationships. Some very tangled relationships. Real tangled relationship: mom's ex married her sister in law who had been a lifelong friend. They remained friends as long as my aunt lived. My mom never said a bad word about her ex or about my aunt. They were adults and conducted themselves as such. Bu

I used to make my own pie crusts and did a pretty good job of it. Then one day I saw Pillsbury frozen deep dish pie crusts and thought to mysouelf "self, Pillsbury does this. Why should you?" Haven't made my own pie crust since.

Oh, Laurie, so do I!! When I first started working in the medical field, it was common to see ash trays in all the waiting rooms and even exam rooms! I worked for three doctors, two of whom were heavy smokers and the other one was a moderate smoker. Virtually all of my co-workers were smokers. At one time I was the only non-smoker in the office. And cigarette smoke is one of the three things that cause me extreme problems (the others being pine pollen and dust). I lived with my mom, who was a heavy smoker so I never got away from cigarette smoke. I purposely sought out non-smokers for b -

I went to the ortho office with a broken foot and never went to the ER. I knew the foot was broken, knew the doctor and had an appointment. This guy didn't have an appointment. He just walked in. ER literally is a mile or so away. Wait time at the ER is probably less than he had at the doctor's office. Might have been because of the co-pay but I doubt it. He was a young guy. Doubt he had insurance. He looked to be college age and came by himself. Doctor kept apologizing to me the whole time he was giving my injection. He seemed a little stumped about why the guy came there, too. -
Granted I don't bake like I used to, but I read that to be you blend the dry ingredients, then blend and add the wet ingredients except for the butter and vanilla and THEN you add the butter and vanilla. At least that is how I would have done it, except I would have blended the butter and vanilla before adding them in. And yes, I would have melted the butter before adding it. I almost always melt butter when baking unless the recipe calls for it to be blended with a dry ingredient such as flour or sugar until it has the consistency of having little balls of dough.
