Georgia man stands ground, result 72 yr old vet with Alzheimer's dead

But how many vehicles crank themselves, put themselves in drive and then press the accelerator? Before that vehicle went out of control, someone was driving. And Pubby, in that video you posted, the cop should be charged with negligent homicide. If that was the actual closet where he had the guns, he did not properly secure them. Shame on him. He should have known better than that. And someone in the home should have known better than to store snacks in the closet with unsecured firearms. Shame on both him and his wife. And was I the only one who felt like the wife couldn't stand -

Something has to activate the trigger. A revolver can go off if it's dropped as the action can active the trigger. But a gun will not fire all by it's lonesome. Someone has to be there to do SOMETHING that activates the trigger. Maybe because mine is new it doesn't now how to fire by itself. -

Let's think about the drivers who drive the wrong way on interstates and then hit someone head on. Let's think about the drunk drivers who run over bicyclists. Let's think about the drivers who just aren't experienced enough to handle a fast car and who slam into telephone poles. Let's blame the vehicles for these accidents. Now, let's think about accidental deaths, suicides and shootings. And blame the gun for these. You know, I have sat my pistol on the table and repeatedly told it to shoot a hole in the wall and it just simply has not done that. Somehow I don't think it's going -

Let's not forget the dear woman who gave her husbands antifreeze. -
Thanksgiving 2007. I already had cooked a lot of Thanksgiving dinner the night before and had retired to the computer. Phone rings. It's our youngest saying she is waiting for her husband to get home to take her to the ER because she is bleeding. She was about 3 months pregnant and began bleeding, not spotting. Naturally my husband realized I would want to go to the hospital so he changed clothes and got the car ready while I grabbed a few things to take with me. We got there and she was not at the women's center. I asked if she was there in triage and they said no. We waited and waite

You and me both!! I had an aunt who lived to be 105. Until she was in her 90s I wouldn't have wanted to tangle with her. Not only that, she knew how to use a gun AND a baseball bat. -

Yeah, that's why the law reads that way. If you fear for your life and act to protect it, you have acted in a legal manner. You have not with malice forethought killed someone. I think "stand your ground" used to be self defense until the PC (not Pcom and not Paulding County) crowd decided to rebrand it to something more intimidating. North Georgia mountains neighbors could easily live in the next community over. Killing innocent people by mistake has happened for years. I have distant family who killed her husband by accident, thinking he was breaking in the house. He -
I bought a van for my daughter. I got a Carfax on it. Didn't show anything major being wrong with it but it did show lapses in registration that shouldn't have happened. Son in law went to test drive it. It ran fine, looked decent so I sent them the money to buy it. They got it, cleaned it up, he took it to get the emission done which it passed with flying colors. They decided to come to our house, driving from Smyrna to Powder Springs. They got IN the Covered Bridge and it broke down. Van never ran right after that. Never. But it did run part of the time. A few months later, my s

Thanks for posting this Pubby. I sent it to my daughter and son in law who work in a retail store in Austell.

I thought they did this at Walmart. And probably any eyeglass place does it.

If I had an income of $27,000,000,000 this year that would be enough. I'd never need any more. I'm not greedy. Come to think of it, $27,000,000 would be enough in one year to last me the rest of my life.

You're right TP. We get hit from both sides--the ones who take and the ones who allow them to take.

Sight unseen, I'll trade your sister and the rest of your family for my mother in law and sister in law. I have always been the black sheep in the family, as has my husband, so I understand completely. And you poor dear, being the only Republican reasonable one in the family.

I'm probably going to get blasted for this but I really don't care. I have an opinion and y'all know me. I've never backed down from stating my opinion. Morally and ethically, yes, she should give up the food stamps. For now. Legally, I'm not sure they can take her assistance away from her. I think it really depends on how she has the "asset" in question. If it's money in the bank, it can be traced and they could take her food stamps or reduce them. If it's cash lying around the house, not a thing they can do. If she buys a car, well, apparently that is a gray area with food stamps

Guess what they wanted you to have a permit for?

That makes about as much sense--the blondes having to have a "prescription" to buy a window weight--as it does that dancing is not allowed in the city limits of Powder Springs. -
Been a while since I told of patients in our office

Might have been DGITW. I forget. I've slept since I read it. I used to hate that! Call up with "emergency" only to find out they have been having the problem for months. And tomorrow being a holiday........well, it became an emergency. -

You said: Really? You are going to tell me, you couldn't tell she was gay? I don't judge people's sexual orientation by their looks. Do you? Just shows PT Barnum was right. Operative words "would be given". Not that they have been. -

Ahhhh, I hate to tell you this but looks aren't everything when it comes to being able to tell someone is gay. Male OR female, it's difficult to tell with everyone. My niece looks "gay" but let me assure you she isn't. Not if that handsome fellow she has kept company with for the past 20 years is any indication. He needs to pose for a calendar of some kind. He's drop dead gorgeous. She, OTOH, wears really short hair, plays golf, wears slacks and is a 50 year old tomboy. But gay, she isn't. Besides, who cares what sexual orientation someone is? I don't judge sexual orientation by -

The mother of the patient who almost got me fired called the day before Thanksgiving, after our last patient for the day had been called back. Her son got hurt and she wanted to bring him to us instead of the ER. I told her we already had the last patient of the day in the exam room and couldn't see him and to take him to the ER. She got belligerent with me so I told her I would ask the one doctor who was still in the office if we could see her son but if he said yes, she would have to bring him immediately. I put her on hold, asked the doctor and he said "if she can have him here in less -

I expect she thought she would garner attention, maybe file a lawsuit and have her 15 minutes of shame. I agree totally with InLa, in that the server did this because of greed. As to why the family didn't come forward sooner, maybe they didn't realize it was them to start with. And perhaps they waited until they had proof in the form of a credit card statement. Until they had that, it would have been their word against hers. Having been the victim of credit card fraud, sometimes it is difficult to tell where the card was compromised. I can see how they might not have known it was -

I think it was Blondie who said an ER copay would be much cheaper than two doctor co-pays. I know my ER copay is cheaper than specialist copay. $60 specialist, $50 ER. -

Seems like these stories of servers having hateful things written on their receipts in place of a tip have been proven false. I liked the family's statement about it. -

A credit card statement is a pretty powerful proof in my view. And if the customer had a copy of their receipt, and the total on it matched the credit card statement, it would seem that the server was wrong. A doctored credit card statement would be pretty easy to determine, too. Much like my oldest daughter's doctored birth certificate so she could get married without her dad's consent. It was OBVIOUS that it had been done. -

A time or two we got the bill and then wanted something else. They either ran another bill or gave it to us on the house. We were in a restaurant in Grenada, Mississippi and had that happen. They were near closing time so they went ahead and brought the bill. Hubby decided he wanted another beer. They ran another ticket. Maybe the customers weren't cleared in 30 minutes. A lot of the time people sit and talk after paying the bill. We do if there isn't a big crowd. Where we go for our favorite lunch, it's usually busy, so we eat and then pay and leave. But we have paid and c
